Pleasant, professional and prompt service. Good food. My first visit to this chain and I will stop by next time I am in the neighborhood. I’m a bit surprised at the negative reviews… I’m assuming that the type of patron changes when it gets late.

The wait time for food was ridiculous — and shakes came out well after the food was already delivered to the table. This place is understaffed, and it shows.

It’s just ok. Not at all worth the hype. Go to Sonic. Their French fries look like match sticks. Find another burger joint.

My wife and I went there recently and didn’t have any of the horrible problems other people described. There was no wait for a table and service was courteous and friendly. The food was pretty good and a good value. I’d definitely come back if I was in the area and wanted a burger.

I’ve been to Steak n Shake on three different occasions– once on opening day, another time to sit down and eat in the actual restaurant a month after opening, and through the drive thru two weeks ago. On opening day, I thought drive thru would be faster at 11pm, but I was very wrong. I say in line for three hours before I even got to place an order, then another hour to actually get my food. The food quality was extremely poor and disappointing– only decent thing was the milkshake. Fries were soggy and thin, burger was extremely thin, lacking real sustenance, and was overall the worst I had ever eaten. The second time I went, I was there on a late afternoon one Sunday. I waited two hours to be seated, and another hour and a half to actually receive my food. Once again, food was disgusting. The final time I was there, I decided to give this place one more chance to redeem itself, but of course, it further plummeted into the depths of food hell. I was at the drive thru on a Sunday evening for an hour for a sub par milkshake. Needless to say, I will never return to this restaurant again. I’d rather drive across the street for McDonald’s, which is, in my book, grades higher than this sad establishment.

Not a good first experience. Waited at the drive thru for 7 minutes. One car in front. Four behind. No one was taking any orders. I literally called from my car and they acted surprised. Then the back door opened three times with employees looking out then walking back inside. I never got my food.

I was warned about this place, but I didn’t listen. I went here on a Sunday(Dec 20) morning looking for a quick bite to eat so I ordered a breakfast sandwich(which took over 10 minutes to prepare) and what I received was a disaster. The biscuit was hard, the sausage was burnt black, and the egg was fried brown(hmm, sounds like the perfect man). In order to give a complete picture of my experience, here are some other observations: 1) I first attempted to go through the drive through line. After five plus minutes of waiting, I parked and went inside. 2) The restaurant was relatively empty for a Sunday morning(9:20AM). There were only three, maybe four booths that were occupied. As a matter of fact, there were more workers in the place(11) than customers. 3) With the slow pace of business, I was puzzled why it was taking so long to make one sandwich. 4) While I was waiting for my sandwich, a customer came in and returned HIS order and had some pretty choice words for the manager/owner about the rudeness of his drive — through staff. 5) When it was my turn, the manager, exasperated at this point, offered me the choice of another sandwich or a refund. I declined the sandwich and asked for my money back, to which he obliged. 6) And in the case of places lacking in customer service, the restroom was in dire need of attention. In closing, I goes without saying that I will not be returning to this, or any other Steak N Shake.

1 star for poor drive thru service… I just ask that you say hello, make an eye contact attempt. say something other than the total that I owe you. I didn’t order any food for myself so this is strictly a review of the late night drive thru service that was extremely poor for it to be so slow.

I was excited to eat here as I have only been to the ones in Florida. The first time we came, the food was good but the service was a little slow especially since it wasn’t that busy. But I really think something was going on and our waitress was just overwhelmed. We also ordered milkshakes to go and they were delicious. The second visit was much better our food was quite tasty service was good and friendly. We also ordered the butter cookie milkshake and fruit and yogurt parfait and they were delicious as well. I’m not sure what all the bad reviews, it’s good food for a cheap price, with many meals under $ 4. I definitely will be making trips to steak and shake every time I’m in the area.

This place opened up earlier in the year and it was hopping mad. We live close by and the cars were lined up along Veterans Highway 25 to 30 deep for the drive/thru most of the Summer… Seemed to be 24 hours a day. ! Finally had the chance to dine in and it was OK. Burgers were good, shakes were great but fries were mediocre at best. Atmosphere and presentation is average but the table service is a treat. Overall it didn’t knock our socks off and we were wondering what all the hype was about Regardless. it sure beats the other boring and unhealthy local fast food joints. Give it a try but watch the calories !

We waited over 15 minutes for a server and we had to ask for one. This place has the worst service ever. I was hoping after the long wait that our food would be awesome. What a disappointment. This place is horrible. My burger was no bigger then the kids meal one. What a waste of an hour and a half and my money! I’d give zero stars if I could. Oh and the place was horribly dirty!!!

I’m here at Steak n Shakes for the second time first time I got a carry-out and now I’m eating in. When I was living in Georgia I use to go to this place all the time and it was always good. I know they are new here in Maryland but they need to work in a few thinks. Keep the homeless people out they are bothering customers. Next the hostess needs to be nice and smile when she greets people. She was the same way when I came the first time. They also need to have staff to meet the demand. The staff is ok but slow and they seem to have a habit of mixing up orders. If you are in a hurry don’t come here you will a waiting for awhile. But the food is good and remind me of home. Wow just over heard a customer say they are never come again. As for me three strikes you are out. Strike one!!!

Wow, I really don’t get the hate this place is getting. No wait, I can, it’s pretty much in Glen Burnie and up the street from a trailer park. Every time I come here, there’s some trashy person being completely crappy to their server about one thing or another. I’m also not shocked that a lot of the bad reviews are from impatient people that are pissy for the long food wait or drive-thru line. This is the only Steak n’ Shake in the state, OFCOURSE it’s going to be busy! It’s going to be busy until there is another one at the least! I have been here many times, and I have never been dissatisfied with my food. It’s always exactly as I order it and hot. The first time I came here, yes, it took a long time to come out, but I wasn’t shocked in the least because of how crazy-busy they were. Since then, it’s much faster and very reasonable for a fast-casual restaurant. I’ve been through the drive-thru once, and I can honestly say it wasn’t the best experience; the girl taking orders was pretty rude, and went silent for at least 5 minutes all the while our window was down in the pouring rain waiting for her to respond. That being said, the line did go pretty quickly and the food was right. In my most recent trip, we were sat and the server hadn’t realized we weren’t being helped, so it took a few minutes for her to take our drink order, but it was smooth sailing after that. There are obviously some kinks to work out, but try being a decent and rational person and realize how busy they are ALLTHETIME.

Food was gross. Service VERYSLOW. Temp inside was VERY cold. Manager was over the top rude. I was going to write a few page review here but I see that so many others have said pretty much all of the same stuff that I was going to say.

Got a Double Steak Cheese Burger W/Fries. It was descent for the price. All meals are under $ 4.00. All shakes and drinks are ½ price from 2pm-5am weekdays only. Marvin(employee) was a nice, good customer service.

Do NOT waste your time or give this establishment your money. Filthy dirty, Horrible service, cold food, wrong orders — if you get an order at all– and the owner is not apologetic at all about NOTSUPPORTINGVETERANS. This restaurant should not even be open.

First of all I’d like to open his opinion by saying upfront that I was a previous stockholder in the company and have been a fan of the company for years so you can say that I’m a fanboy to some degree and I want the best for this company howeverwhat I received when I visited this location was absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had at steak and shake. After waiting which seems to be a maternity for a local and I mean local steak and shake was like heaven on earth I could not wait for this place to open I will go by displace every two days waiting for the day we decide to go out with Libby opening it when the day finally came the places lined up and I could not get it and I had to wait at least another month before I got in, was the weight worth it I was say lots. As far as I’m concerned this place is not ready for prime time yet when I entered the store it was doing one of the solar heat waves however when I answered into the store if a like a freezer my God it was like 32° in there it felt like someone had forgotten to turn the air conditioner off or to make reasonable adjustments to the temperature because it was freezing in there secondly will be ordered our food it took a little time but I couldn’t wait however when I got my food my chili was ice cold is still head cold chunks of ice still in it and I was like what’s up with this my server who was very nice quickly removed it and said she’ll come back with another bowl this bowl was Luke warm at best I sent it back again The waitress apologize again it was very visibly upset about the chili and she said she will talk to the manager about it finally caught piping bowl of chili finally came out from the back I was like thank God they got it right finally other than that the meal what off without any more glitches but after that experience it kind of turned me off completely. I feel that this this place need some more practice to be perfect and most steak is Angel perfect this one is not so I’m kind of deciding when I will come back probably in six months after they’ve really worked out the kinks in this restaurant because either wait for this to happen like this was Healy wrong

Against my first tastes and second nature, I decided to try out the new local Steak ‘n Shake mainly due to the constantly busy parking lot but also because it’s the new spot in town. Upon entering however, I quickly realized that the parking lot was so full and the drive thru so long because the service was so bad. There was no customer turnover. It was almost as if the customers who had first entered upon opening that day had never left. There were so many customers and no one was being served. How does that happen?! It’s the old«I had so much to do that I didn’t get anything done.»(I’m starting to wonder if these were the same poor people whose cars I saw 2 days ago that were still waiting for their food.) When my milkshake did finally arrive at the carry-out counter, I couldn’t understand a single word the gentleman said. Please repeat but in English this time. The burger(Yes, one single burger. Not burgers for an entire girls softball team) arrived maybe 15 – 20 minutes after the milkshake. The food was then brought home to be closely scrutinized, photographed and tasted. The milkshake was blah, the French fries cold and over-seasoned and the burger thrown together in a sloppy mess. The fact that my stomach is revolting right now tells me that I never will be returning to Steak ‘n Shake and I’d deter any explorative soul from entering if you truly value your time and health.

Why give four stars to a fast food restaurant? Because it’s steak and shake that’s why! If you have previously lived in some city or state that has steak and shake and you’ve eaten there before you’ll probably be one of the ones that are just simply excited to have them in the greater Maryland area. This is the first one. You can tell they’re working very hard to handle the massive flood of eager customers. So. How was it? Food came out slightly slow, but I’ve had that happen at many Steak n Shakes in Florida. The shoestring fries were GREAT, the Frisco Melt GREAT, the Chili– good(same as any other SnS). If I were to nitpick, I’d say the shake was a tad thinner than I’d had before. I took several pics of the interior. It’s not the set-on-a-45-degree angle layout of the older SnS’s. This is bigger, brighter, nicer, with new pleasing architectural detail inside and out. Yet it’s still a big box. It’s just a nicer one. If the corporate guys are reading this, kudos to the architect, the wait staff, and the manager. It’s nice to have you all in Maryland!
