They have great food. It’s a must try for out-of-towners. It’s a nice little place that is always packed when it’s open. They recently limited their hours and now close around 2pm though. Go early and get some good food for a good price. Waffles and pork roll is my go-to meal there. It is soooo good. They make the best waffles around. They are so big, light, and fluffy that I can’t even eat the whole thing and I have to take some to go. The breakfast wrap is so stuffed that it is hard to eat. It is packed with flavor. There are eggs, your choice of meat, and a bunch more in there that it falls right out of the wrap. They know how to make great wraps. The French Dip with fries and a pickle is good too, if you were looking for a more lunch/dinner type meal. The service is great here too. The employees get to know you, and they are really nice. I highly recommend this small diner in the heart of Milltown for anyone. Skip Dunkin’ across the street and especially skip Heavenly across the bridge. Make a beeline to Milltown Diner and you won’t be disappointed.

This time, I ordered the chipotle bacon burger. I had to get a burger my 3rd time being at a diner. It came with cheddar, bacon, and chipotle mayo. The burger also came with a side of soup and fries. I opted for the chicken noodle soup. The chicken noodle soup was great. The chicken was tender and the noodles were fabulous along with the broth. There were plenty of tasty vegetables too. The burger was alright except for the temperature. I ordered medium, but it was more on the medium well side. There was plenty of cheese, bacon and chipotle mayo. The mayo was spicy while the burger was of good size. My only complaint was the way my burger was cooked. The fries were better this time around for some reason and I am unsure why.

When Cray Café was closed earlier this week, I went searching for another place for breakfast in the Milltown vicinity. Unilocal pointed out the Milltown Diner just around the corner on Main Street. One door is locked, another one has a Welcome sign hanging from it. So it goes. This is a small joint, with about ten booths and tables, and a counter with an equal number of spinners. I sat there to get an overview, although as the only customer, I had my choice of seating. Discovering they had no muffins available, I ordered their French Toast and Coffee. The java arrived first in a mug with a stainless pitcher of milk on the side. Gratitude for the leche which I prefer over half and half. It was strong, but flavorful and did the trick. The FT were three thick slices, grilled to a golden brown with a pitcher of syrup and frozen butter patty on the side. It was decent, although lacking the vanilla and sugar added to the egg mix that brings out the flavor and caramelization I desire on my grilled breads. The owner was present and provided a history of his 6.5 years here, and the 80 years that came before his arrival. Seems like a nice little place. Limited parking in front or around the corner.

Just wanted to give an update. Haven’t been here in a while and as soon as we walked in, noticed they painted! Looks great! Also, the service is great as always. Read some other reviews and don’t understand how anyone can say the waitress isn’t helpful or friendly. Our service is always pleasant and our food is always delicious. The last thing this place is, is overpriced !! Ludicrous!

This place is awesome. You will get an insane amount of food for a great price and everything I’ve ever had is top notch. The pancakes, sandwiches, omelettes, you name it. Extremely consistent. The place is always clean and service is prompt. This is definitely more a luncheonette than a diner though. They close before dinner time which can be a bummer sometimes. I know this is a little short but doesn’t a 5 star really speak for itself? You will not be hungry or disappointed.

Food was just okay to put it mildly and over priced. The waitress was cold as the orange juice, just wasn’t pleasant at all. Didn’t even check on us not once! Watched the her making toast with bare and more than likely dirty hands. I’m all for small town diners but some things are a given. The cook and bus guy was pleasant. Will not be returning.

This place isn’t bad for a quick breakfast or lunch. There was definitely a weird smell as soon as we walked in, but it was’t unbearable. My friend and I got seated right away followed by immediate drink orders while we looked over the menu. It was a Sunday morning around 11, so we opted for lunch instead of bfast. We both set on french dip sandwiches, but when we went to put the order in the waitress informed us they were all sold out of roast beef. Major bummer, but she told us she’d give us a few more minutes so I decided on the country chicken panini and my friend got a patty melt. Both stated they came with FF, cole slaw, pickle, and a cup of soup. When we asked what soup came with it, the waitress stated they don’t serve soup on the weekends. So I asked if they substitute something else for it then, like a house salad, and she said no because its like a complimentary thing usually and they don’t have to give it to you the owner just has it on there and they have to change it on the menu. It was the weirdest response and her tone was kind of rude as if I was asking her to give us extra food for free, instead of trying to figure out what they’re advertising on the menu to come with the meal. They do give you a lot of food, however the«chipotle mayo» that was on my sandwich was just franks red hot and mayo mixed together, not chipotle at all, which was disappointing because that was the real seller for me on ordering it. The coleslaw was more creamy and sweet than I prefer, but it was a nice crunch mixed with my sandwich. I have to say, the fries definitely were perfectly crispy and salted. They seemed like they were double fried to get them to that perfect crispness. My friend did enjoy his sandwich, however we had to ask the waitress to refill our drinks a couple times even though we were only one of 3 tables taken in the place. I’d like to say we might’ve walked out of there with a better experience if we went during the week when they actually serve soup and have the roast beef available, but I’m not sure that will change the service.

Good food, large portions and GREAT service! Louise keeps everything moving and doesn’t miss a beat. She gets you what you want fast and if she really likes you, you get it with a side of good humored attitude! I go every week for breakfast and her tell it like it is humor is the cherry on top of this great little local place.

Great local diner. Large portions, good food, friendly atmosphere. it has become the place to go for us when we have breakfast. Have also had lunch and dinner there and the portions are just as large and just as good. It’s great to support a local business.

Definitely a luncheonette, not a diner. We went for breakfast and everything was very good. The egg were made exactly the way we asked and the food came out fast. All in all a cute little place. The only negative and its a big one: when we walked in we were hit with the smell of a backed-up or not maintained grease trap. We were starving so we decided to deal. This was our first time here so I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say it probably doesn’t smell everyday… we hope.

This place should be renamed«The Mirage Diner» because it doesn’t exist. It taunts you via Unilocal when you are famished, then disappears, leaving you grumpy and hungry.

I love this place! I went here for breakfast and had a great experience. The portions are so big and really tasty. It’s also not expensive, so you’re definitely getting your money’s worth. It is a fairly small place, but it suits the town it is in and is really cute. The employees were really nice and provided great service. I definitely recommend this diner to anyone in the area!

Oh god… This place is a disaster. My friend and I wanted to try something new, so we checked out reviews and decided to give this diner a try. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I stepped back in time. The whole place just had a weird vibe to it. Also, they had no music playing, but chose to blare the TV instead. I tried to ignore the run down look of the place, but the woman who waited us was TERRIBLE! My friend asked her how the French toast was and she responded, «well, no one ever complains» in a nasty voice. WHAT? I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes, only they were out of chocolate chips. I decided id order some lunch instead than, but they were OUTOFCHEESESTEAKS? According to her, they’re «always out.» My friend I were so stunned we got up and left. Terrible environment, nasty attitude and out of food? No thanks…

Just dropped off our daughter at Rutgers and we were looking for breakfast and found this fabulous diner. The food was excellent. I had a feta spinach omlette with homefries that was so delicious. My daughter had the blueberry pancakes that were amazing! We will definitely be back.

Ehhh, this is a run of the mill dinner in a small town. When I pulled up I was surprised the place was so small. From the outside it looks like it’s a bookstore or something. Once inside there are approx. 4 booths and maybe 5 tables. The staff consisted of a cook, barkeep and one waitress. The limited staff isn’t really an issue unless one of them decides to chat it up with other customers and ignore you. I’m a breakfast person, so I was excited to try this place. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed. I’m not saying the food was terrible, but it wasn’t worth writing a review about. One pro is that they give you a loyalty card and after your 7th meal you’ll get $ 7 off. I’m never going to be able to reap the benefits of the 2 cards I have because I most likely won’t be back(but if you need a card let me know and you’ll be one step closer to $ 7 off)!

Nice home town diner, great prices for an ample amount of food. Nothing overly special in regards to the menu, décor or service. Rather quaint and endearingly provincial. Kinda like Mayberry.
