Super disappointing. I was excited to try this place out and ordered takeout to bring to a friend’s house who just had a baby. I called at 11:05am to place the order. I wanted to pick up the food at 11:30 which would normally would be plenty of time, but they informed me they ran out of oil to fry the samosas so I’d have to wait til 12pm. How does a restaurant run out of oil? If it weren’t for the new mom’s request, I would have changed the order. So I arrive at 12pm expecting the food to be ready, and they tell me they’ve run out of eggplant for the eggplant curry dish. Why they didn’t tell me this when I ordered? Mindboggling. I order the vegetable curry instead and I was finally out the door 15min later, even tho they said it would be 5. Note: the restauarant was completely empty at this time. They did give me a discount for the mishap after I asked, but these days my time is worth more than money since I have 9mo of my own who was waiting in the car with my hubs. Onto the food itself: Garlic noodle with pork — where’s the garlic flavor? And the pork? House fried rice with beef — mediocre with not much flavor Vegetable curry — more oil than curry Salt and pepper chicken — over fried and no flavor Samosas — not bad but I’ve had better Overall disappointing. Burmese food is a rare find in the area and I was hoping for a unique and delicious local spot. I had been bugging my husband to try it and he proved me wrong for being excited about it.

I’ve been to this place several times. They always take a long time to bring out your order. One time I stood there for more than 10 minutes waiting to be seated. Yesterday 5÷25÷16 I went in and order the usual that I love there. They brought out the dish with steamed rice that smelled sour. I recently had food poisoning in Texas so of course I don’t want to put my stomach through that again. So I sent the rice back. They offered to cook a new batch of rice in which they said it will take 10 minutes. Then they came back 10 minutes later and said it’s gonna take 15 – 20 min. So I just ate the fried fish and paid for my bill and left. I will never go here again.

Came here with my friend not too long ago b/c we didn’t feel like driving all the way to Palo Alto for some good Burmese food. It was around 8:30 at night when we arrived… the restaurant is pretty small, but I’m glad it was just us and a couple of other diners in there cuz I wasn’t in the mood for dining with a loud crowd anyway… Service was kind of slow, but it was pretty late at night already anyway… they were very nice though. For appetizers, we ordered the roti with some flavorful dipping sauce that had chicken in it… this was probably the best dish out of the whole meal… we also ordered the samosas… I liked these too b/c they weren’t overwhelmingly spicy… they tasted good just the way they are I also ordered Burmese tea. The server suggested to try it hot b/c it tastes better when it’s hot… I’ve tried it both hot and cold, and I like it either way… My friend had the garlic chicken noodle and wasn’t too impressed with it. I had a bite of it and I wasn’t into it either… felt like the noodles didn’t capture that garlic flavor… it was more like… garlic sprinkled on top of the noodles… I forgot what exactly my order was called, but I just remember it was some type of fried fish with a whole bunch of toppings in it… it was like a mix of dried chilis and garlic i think? I honestly liked it better when I had it the second day for lunch… this dish was just ok… not great… We also ordered a plate of biriyani… good, but so much for two people to share… too much cashew and raisin in there for my liking. Overall, food was decent, but nothing all too memorable for me.

Unbelievable that there isn’t a line out of the door but this place has BEST Burmeese food in town. Everything was made fresh and food was incredibly delicious. My husband and I have so many favorite dishes here. We’ve ordered for take out a couple times during the week. Tofu with tomato sauce, tea leaf beef, coconut noodle are a few of the best dishes. Best Mango salad ever!

We decided to try this place as it was closer to home. Location 1⁄5 star Ambience 1⁄5 star Its as bad as any local taqueria Food and service 1⁄5 star Can you imagine your curries with sugar instead of spices? Both our burmese fried rice and egg-okra curry were sweet. The tea leaf salad had all the textures but lacked flavor. The server did not explain the salad or mix it in front of us unlike other burmese restaurants do. Instead she asked us if we wanted it mixed or separate. We requested it to be separate to know what all goes in. The entrée and the salad were served together. Not to mention, water was served in a ceramic mug !!! Price 1⁄5 The dishes were priced just like other restaurants where food tastes better, has great ambience and salad mixed in front of you. Going to Palo Alto, Burlingame or SF for good burmese food will be worth the drive.

Super lunch. Very nice people and delicious food. We ordered the regular tea leaf salad — vegetarian, the mixed Vege curry, the okra and egg curry, and Faluda(drink/dessert). Everything was really good. Good portions too.

***3.5 stars*** Burma House is a solid Burmese restaurant in Milpitas. It’s been awhile since my last time at Burma House but I was happy to be back after having disappointing Burmese food over the weekend in Daly City. My friends and I were originally going to have Mexican food a couple of doors down since the Unilocal hours the night before said Burma House was closed on Mondays. Luckily, when we arrived, we saw their«open» sign and door open. I was told they finally updated their hours on Unilocal but not on their website yet. Anyways, we were happy they were open since we originally wanted to come here in the first place. We arrived around 6pm and the restaurant was empty. We didn’t mind since we had young kids with us. Most of their tables are set for parties of 2 or 4 and there was one larger round table. There is a door bell next to each table where you can press it when you need service. Not sure if that was there the last time I came or not. Anyways, the four of us shared the following items for dinner: — Tea leaf salad(could be made with the traditional cabbage or lettuce) — Samosas(comes with 4) — Curry pork with potatoes — Chicken pumpkin stew — Garlic noodles with pork My favorites were the tea leaf salad and samosas. I thought the garlic noodles were a little soggy this time but I did enjoy the garlicky flavor. The meat in the curry was a bit over cooked too. On the plus side, service was great and parking was easy here.

3.5 Stars. I had the tea salad(cabbage) and curry w/boiled egg & okra. They don’t offer brown rice and don’t mix cabbage w/the iceberg lettuce. Food overall was ok, but the dishes were both $ 11/each and for that price it was a little small. The place was empty on a Weds night and service was ok, friendly but not very attentive. They have bells for you to ring if you need to call the waitress over. Free wifi from the laundromat next door. I’d try another Burmese place before I come back here.

I came here on a Friday night with a friend, and it was basically empty the whole time. I got a mohingar and it was okay. The noodles were really soft, and some were clumpy. It was basically a fish soup, but there weren’t whole pieces of fish in it. Flavor was good, and I added chili oil into it. Good thing I wasn’t too hungry, otherwise I wouldn’t have been full; it’s basically soup. I’ve definitely had better, although it tasted pretty authentic. $ 10 pre-tax pre-tip is pretty hefty for the amount and quality, especially because it wasn’t very filling. My friend got a lamb curry-like dish, and the flavor was quite good as well. Maybe the mohingar just isn’t their dish? Anyway, wouldn’t highly recommend it, but maybe I just got the wrong dish.

I don’t know if I’m missing something since this place was rated pretty well… I came on a Saturday night with a friend and it was pretty empty with only one other table in the restaurant. Tea leaf salad: one of the better one’s that I’ve had since it wasn’t too salty. Fish curry: nothing impressive, the mahi mahi was overcooked. I think the reason I didn’t particularly like this place was the service. There was only one waiter with a few tables and it seemed impossible for him to remember our dishes/requests without writing it down. He had to go back inside the kitchen area to get his paper and pen multiple times when we ordered things even though it was one request. It also took forever to get the check once we were finished, to the point where we just stood up and waited for it because it was taking too long. TLDR: Food is okay, service is poor. Probably won’t be back!

Burma house was alright. Burmese is definitely much more up n coming in the area and unfortunately they didn’t wow me enough to come back all the way to Milpitas for. We came on a Sunday evening for dinner and there was just one server. It took forever for the water to come out, and my mom’s tea came when our last entrée. I also didn’t like how they came out w the tea leaf beef entrée first but our side order of white rice didn’t come till later and I had to ask for it again. another loss for me is that their coconut rice is $ 6. I live close to Burma Bistro in Santa Clara which only charges about $ 2 I believe. The tea leaf beef sounded interesting but there wasn’t enough of the tea leaf flavor and beef was sort of dry. The coconut noodles were also kind of bland, I mixed the pork curry sauce into it for more flavor. However I did enjoy the pork curry. Portions are a little small here since prices are higher than average. Basically I wouldn’t recommend this place for a Burmese restaurant. It’s not that bad, but not that good either.

We got three dishes here. One was the house special tofu, the coconut and chicken noodle, and the tea leaf salad. While I can say I liked the texture of the tea leaf salad, the taste was way too salty for my taste. I think it comes from the tea leaves. But when I tried it at Rangoon Ruby for the first time, I was in love with it. So this does not even come close to that. The coconut chicken noodles were okay… a little bland and not super hot. I had to add a loooot of red chili pepper flakes to it. I wished that it was served a little hotter too. I was however a fan of the house tofu! I usually just expect golden fried tofu but here they stuffed thing in little pockets of the tofu triangles. It was delicious! You should definitely order this as one of your appetizers!

This place sucks. I was there with some coworkers and we were there by 11:30am on a weekday and the service was slow. There was only one other table with two people in the restaurant. Tried the tea salad, not sure why people dig it, it’s not special. The portions for appetizers were small so we had to order multiple orders so that there was enough food to share, the bill was waaaay more expensive than expected. There are much better choices than this place. Will never go back.

We came here on Valentine’s Day for lunch and it was not crowded at all. For us, it was a normal day. We don’t celebrate the Hallmark holiday, but we did go out for lunch after church. I discovered this spot via Unilocal! My husband was craving Asian food and I saw this place. We are a fan of Burmese food so we decided to give it a go. We ordered the tea leaf salad with the traditional ingredients(cabbage). This was tasty! I would definitely order this again. It was flavorful and refreshing. It’s light and on the healthier side of the spectrum. This was a winner for me. We also ordered the pumpkin curry chicken, pompano, and coconut rice. All of these were tasty, but compared to our other favorite restaurants these don’t match up. However, it does hit the spot. Everything was tasty, and our tummies were happy and content afterwards. The coconut rice was super yummy! We ordered 2 bowls! The coconut rice and the tea leaf salad were good. I’ll have to try something else next time, other than the pumpkin curry and the pompano. We took the leftovers home to my father in law. He likes the pumpkin curry and he doesn’t even like curry. I think he likes it because it wasn’t like your traditional curry. It was more like chicken covered in pumpkin purée. It was thick, and unlike other soupy curries we are used to. The pompano is an entire fish, including the head. My father in law didn’t think they cleaned the fish in its entirety. My husband and I don’t eat the fish head so we didn’t notice?

We recently had lunch here, and enjoyed it very much. We are vegetarians, and the restaurant had quite a few vegetarian selections. Being more used to the level of spiciness at Thai restaurants, we were a bit surprised that the food was not as spicy — so, in case, you are looking for extra-spicy food, be sure to specify it beforehand. Overall, we had a good time, and I’d certainly recommend this place if you’re looking for Burmese food.

Unilocalers– you failed me again! Food is straightforward nothing fancy, if that’s your taste buds. More like villagers food from my perspective. Customer service is excellent.

Wasn’t really happy with the visit here. We were a party of only 2 people and when we arrived at the restaurant for a Sunday lunch, the restaurant was empty except for a party of about 10. So we were seated right away. I can clearly see why they have the service bell buttons here at the tables. There is only 1 waitress working here and this other guy popping out of the kitchen here and there. The waitress took our order and didn’t seem all to friendly or approachable. It felt like as if we waited over an hour to get our food. Yes, its understandable that there would be a wait since there was a big party, but still over an hour is quite long. The restaurant needs to work on efficiency and should have been working on ours while working on the big party. They should have been serving the big party some of the dishes they ordered, then cooked ours and then went back to cooking the rest of there entrees. The food wasn’t that good either, we ordered Burma House Pork Curry and Chicken Curry. Both had very similar tastes, just a tad bit different but still, similar. We’ve tasted and had better Burmese style food near us in Fremont. Dissapointed with this place, not sure how they have a 4 star rating. I’m not sure we will be back.

I liked the taste of this place. Only gripe is the portions are a lil small for the price ur payin. Not very many burmese options in the area so id give this place a try if ur bout expanding ur horizons on asian food a lil. Got the Salmon curry($ 12) and these fish cake thingies($ 10). Also got a lil dessert it was 6 bux. Being that I dont think the food ingredients is expensive, i have no idea why the food itself is so expensive but meh… its not every day so might as well. Overall, I would come back again. I like moh kitchen a lil better but this place is a close 2nd.
