I was able to tag along with some co-workers going to lunch and they often go to El Alazan Grill & Taqueria in Milpitas. Place wasn’t that busy yet when we went. Order at the register and they bring the food out to your table. I got the vegetarian burrito $ 6.49 — rice, beans, cheese. It was a small burrito, but after eating it all with lots of salsa and sauce Plus a medium horchata $ 2.75 I was super full. I paid total $ 8.14 cash, not sure if they take credit cards. FREE Chips plus Salsa Bar! One co-worker likes the carne asada burrito. Other got carne asada lunch plate. They liked their food and they go often. I would go back.

This is a hidden gem! If you like tacos with a lot of meat and lots of flavor, this is the place. The self service unlimited chips and salsa is awesome. It was nice that they bring the food to your table after ordering from the counter, so I tipped a few dollars. I’ll be back now that I know there is a taqueria in this part of Milpitas.

Excellent chicken fajita taco salad! Crispy red and green bell pepper, onion and fresh jalapeño. Perfectly seasoned chicken, rice and pinto beans. Fresh avocado and tomato, plus sour cream and salsa from the salsa bar make this a delicious choice. With such an extensive menu, I look forward to my return.

Nice hidden gem in Milpitas, better than average. They offer a wide variety and pricing is decent. Salsa bar with unlimited chips is a plus in my book! The salsa’s all taste fresh and have different flavors to them. Plus if you’re ordering to go they have bagged chips and to go containers for you take with. I’ve had the tacos here which are a little on the greasy side, but they definitely pack the amount of meat on their tacos. My boyfriend likes getting their quesadillas here and I agree that they’re good. The horchata here is sweet and not too overpowering with cinnamon, get a large! I got a regular and regret it immediately. I ordered the enchiladas the most recent time I was here, but they weren’t wrapped very well so everything was falling apart. Still good, but I would pass next time and stick with the tacos. Not a place I would crave, but definitely a place I would return to.

I am really picky when it comes to Mexican food as I am Mexican, therefore I have really high standards. But this place was just awesome! I got the carne asada plate and the portions were big! 4 slices of carne asada, a side of rice and beans, side of salad, and potato wedges! What more can you ask for? Pros: — good taste — rice was homemade and not out of a can or store bought — big portions — decent price — nice employees — free chips and salsa Cons: –re-fried beans(not a big fan of them) Can’t wait to go back to try their other dishes! A must try if you are in the area!

My parents really like this place. I think it’s okay. They once got a carne asada plate with a certain sauce, I don’t know which it was but, I really didn’t like it. The plain Carne Asada plate without the enchilada sauce, I believe is what it was, tasted and smelled a whole lot better. The Horchata is pretty good here too. My friend loved the Carne Asada Tacos. The staff seem friendly and the place is pretty laid back, they have a couple of T.V.s usually showing soccer.

My friend and I have a rule if that we come upon an establishment during lunch time and it’s not crackin’ then the food is probably not all that. But, we were short on time and my friend was on the mood for tacos and this was the closest one. We got there at around 12:30 and it was empty. My friend and I looked at each other and felt that knot in our stomachs but I reasoned that, what the hell, you can’t really mess up tacos! And boy, were we enlightened! Their food was something to be proud of. Our tacos were packed with meat and oh the tortillas were soft and fresh not dry and undercooked like other places. And my favorite part of any Mexican food place is the salsa bar if they have one. And the salsa bar here offers a variety of salsa, pico de gallo and even spicy pickled onions(delish!) the prices are reasonable specially since they don’t skimp on the ingredients. I got a taco plate for $ 5.25 and it came with 2 tacos and a bountiful of rice and beans! I would definitely come back here and try other items from their vast menu choices.

OFCOURSEMYFIRST UnilocalREVIEWEVERWOULDBEFORTACOS! Tacos all day everyday, how will I work towards that beach body. I used to walk here during my lunch breaks, and I am so glad I found this little gem. I’ve had tacos from the south to the north, and I do have to admit that this is one of my favorite places. 1. Legit, fresh salsa bar with unlimited types of sauces 2. You get as many free bag of chips as you want 3. If you’re an horchata fan, their horchata is on pointttt 4. They give you a bunch of meat per taco! When I eat at taco trucks or other taco places, I usually don’t get full until my 4th or 5th taco. With this place, I swear I get full off of 2. 5. Their long stem of grilled onion on each taco smells absolutely amazing and adds so much flavor to the meal The only reason I knocked it off one star is because they increased their taco prices recently, so I do think it is bit on the pricier end compared to other taco places. HOWEVER, if you think about it, they give you WAY more meat, unlimited chips, and I can never forget that salsa bar. Converted my coworkers to tacos — they’ve never had any and this changed their mind.

I had the Al Pastor Taco Plate and is was pretty bland including the beans and rice. Service was good though, I’d definitely be willing to try other meats on their menu. Also, they had a chips and salsa bar which was awesome.

This place is the best place to get Mexican food in Milpitas. Mexican food is hard to come by in Milpitas. Coming here I know I’m going to get a good Taco, burrito or enchilada. The burritos are my personal favorite here. And squeeze a little lime juice from the fresh salsa bar on your tacos accompanied by a bite if jalapeño on the side makes the tacos delicious. Much better than casa azteca which, to be fair, is not a taqueria but a sit-down restaurant. But still I don’t know how it has more stars than this place.

*****BREAKDOWN***** — friendly staff — hidden gem; hole in the wall — water dispenser doesn’t taste purified(opt for a beverage instead) — cleanliness is questionable — extensive ass menu — huge portions — inexpensive — there’s a kid’s menu(nuggets, burgers, etc.) — there are lunch specials — breakfast served all day I came here w/my little one last Friday. This has been on my bookmarks ever since Megan C. wrote a review about it. For some reason, I have been obsessed w/taco salads. One thing I do love that I rarely order is: chilaquiles. Often times I prefer my breakfast to be American so coming here last was a way to satisfy both interests. At first I did not see salads but that is because the menu is on the right wall, where the lunch specials and kid’s meals are. The main wall displays breakfast and their main entrees. I ordered the Chicken Taco Salad($ 7.25), Chilaquiles($ 7.99), and a side of rice($ 2) for my little one. Yes, I ordered 2 dishes for myself. The food did not come out as fast as I thought it would be but I can see and taste that each dish was made to order, nothing pre made whatsover. The taco salad was delicious. The lettuce was fresh, the beans were tender, and the chicken was juicy… the chilaquiles(he asked if I wanted eggs and of course that was a «yes») was awesome. I was expecting it to be spicy since I chose that option when ordering and sure enough, the chile verde was packed w/heat that will get you at a subtle pace. The eggs were on the griddle for a bit too long but the refried beans, the generous amount of sour cream, the rice, and the chilaquiles itself was simply to die for. We had the place to ourselves. The guy was watching over us so it was nice to know that he is observant. When my little guy dropped his spoon, the guy went over and brought over a new one. Tip: finish the entire chilaquiles as leftovers tasted a little blah. My menu for next week: — chilaquiles for breakfast served on a tiny plate for dietary reasons — Thai chicken basil for lunch, no rice — bulgogi tofu papaya salad for dinner #thisiswhyimfat

Had a super burrito and a taco. Both very good. Loaded with meat, very tasty. I liked their burritos better than Los Cunados also here in Milpitas. Staff was very friendly, place was nice and clean.

Stumbled upon this place last night on my break from doing volunteer work at goodwill across the street. It’s a pretty small place between a phở restaurant and what seems to have been a Mexican night club. Since this place was a ma and pop joint I was surprised that they took credit, which is a major plus! I really dislike places that are cash only. They have free FILTERED water which is another plus because most places just give you water straight from the tap. They had all kinds of salsas for your choosing and complimentary chips, another plus! I ordered the taco plate, which came with two tacos, beans and rice… all for only five bucks and some change. It came with a grilled pepper and two grilled green onion stocks… didn’t really like that garnish. As for the taste, it was alright. Nothing to write home about. It was kind of plain. The beans needed something else because it just tasted like it was out of the can and the rice could have had more flavor as well. The tacos looked like they were going to be packed with flavor, but again it was very bland. I wanted to like this place not only because I was hungry but also because this place looked like it could have been one of those good hole in the wall type of establishments. They had really good lunch deals, maybe next time I will try that out…

Average taqueria but i give 4 stars for their taco salad!!! My first time trying a taco salad and it was heaven”!!! I’m usually a meat eater but my colleagues got veggie taco salads, I wasn’t that hungry anyway so I opted for the same. Awesome choice I made because its filling, I have lunch for tomorrow as well, and I saved a buck by going vegan! The veggie taco salad has avocados, tomatoes, beans, rice, sour cream, lettuce, and it’s all in that delicious crunchy flaky delicious tortilla shell. It’s perfection to the mection. I used to not be a fan of Mexican food but I have found my Mexican item! Free salsa and chips, they’re even nice enough to have some in a bag so if you’re in a rush you can grab one and go. This taqueria quite the hole in the wall, random ass menu on top of the OUTSIDE door, the hell is up with that. Outdated strip mall, my boss said they used to have really Mexican yellow colored walls lol. I guess they’re a lesser Mexican yellow now? I was kind of baffled hearing the microwave going on and off so many times. Not sure why they have to use a microwave so much but my taco salad tastes good so microwave whatever you want lol. They have the best Mexican lunch specials I’ve seen in milpitas, about 5 different items with potato wedges(random but ok), priced at about 7 – 8 bucks and comes with a soda.

I don’t write many reviews these days but I’ve been meaning to write one for El Alazan for months and have only just gotten a chance to do so. I LOVETHISPLACE. Not only is there food super affordable — I work in the non-profit business park a block away — but the food is very authentic and delicious. They also have this amazing salsa bar with free chips! They usually have a taco plate special that’ll run you about $ 5 or get an giant burrito with all the trimming for about $ 7. They staff is extremely nice and make you feel like you’re at home. I hope the owner sees this and gives them all a raise! BTW they also are not jerks about credit card charges, like many other establishments in the area that require a $ 15 – 20 minimum. I use AMEX and don’t like to carry cash with me but they’ll still charge me for meals under $ 10. This place is a hidden gem and ought to be recognized. Take care!
