My go to place for pandan waffles! Their pastries are always good. I don’t understand why this place is so dead but I’m glad I wouldn’t want this place packed and I’m glad it is lightweight not known to a lot of people.

Hands down, best croissants in town! Crisp, flaky, soft center, buttery deliciousness are their croissants. They have almond, one of my favorites, followed by ham and cheese, chocolate and plain. Roy’s Coffee shop in Japan Town even contracts with them to provide their daily batch of freshly baked croissants and goodness. Often, Roy’s is sold out of then every weekend. In addition, Golden bakery has really good vietnamese sandwiches, cakes and other pastries.

So I have mixed feelings about Golden Bakery and their Fresh bread. I think I just have too high expectations of the place. The pastry was crispy and the custard was perfectly done, tender not too runny and yet not too bouncy like gelatin texture either. Eat the tart when it comes out of the oven, it’s the perfect temperature and makes you feel comfort they were decent, not spectacular but pretty good.

I walked in expecting an bakery selling buns and dim sum for some reason. It’s an Asian bakery that sells western pastries, and bahn mi and drinks. I came in in the afternoon so the selection was pretty limited. Something really appealed to me so I just grabbed a bag of sliced baguette with butter and sugar for snack. The oil tasted like larb and it was so oily. The rating is biased based on one small product, so maybe I should come and try the bahn mi next time.

I’m not a regular or anything, but I’ve come here a lot. I like the pastries, the pandan waffles are really good, and I absolutely LOVE the mango banana smoothies(with pearls) here. Also, the bread is really popular here and I see people coming in to buy it all the time. Pricing: Really cheap in my opinion! I’ve heard people say that 85 Degrees Bakery is cheap, but the pastries at 85 go for around $ 1.75 to $ 3, whereas those at Golden Bakery are around $ 1.35 to $ 2. Food/drinks: In my opinion the pastries and such are good but not surprisingly amazing. It’s definitely good enough for me though! I haven’t really tried a pastry that I did not like so far except for one of the buns with ground meat on the inside; someone else got it for me and those really aren’t my thing. As I said above, I really like the mango banana smoothies and so does my family. My sister and I always make a point of getting them when she’s in town, and when we get them our father will complain if we don’t get him one. They use ripe bananas and mango purée/syrup and ice from the fridge from what I can tell, but I don’t care if they don’t necessarily have fresh mango because they’re good! The pearls are pretty good from what I can tell; they’re consistently soft and chewy and I don’t remember them ever being tough or hard. Sometimes they run out of pearls if you come late in the day though. I don’t think they’ve ever been out before 3 or 4 when I’ve gone. The drink doesn’t have much of a banana flavor that I can taste, btw. The only other drink I’ve gotten at Golden Bakery is the thai tea. They put a lot of ice in the cup, like almost to the top; if I order thai tea here again I’ll probably ask if I can get half ice or something. As for the price/worth, I thought it was reasonable and a good price as far as thai tea goes. It tasted much like what I remember of the thai tea from other places, from Joy Cups to Quicklys to Sweet Corner(I’m no thai tea connoisseur so I can’t say much on it’s quality). I’ve gotten lots of various pastries here and I don’t remember what the were called specifically, but they were overall bordering decent and good. I think I’ve gotten the cheese/garlic bread thing, custard bun, and sweet-crunchytop bun the most. I’ve gotten the Chinese donuts by the register before once; I thought they were good but I have only had Chinese donuts a couple of times before so I don’t have anything to compare them to.

If I wanted a fresh baked baguette I go here for a $ 1.50. You cant beat fresh bread when you make your sandwiches or toasts with pomegranate cream cheese(me and my daughter’s creation). We tried other baguettes, but it’s incomparable to the lightness of the bread and crispiness of the crust from this bakery. The other pastries was so-so. Not liking their sandwiches either. But I never leave without a baguette on hand. *** 3 stars!

I had their berry crème brûlée, which was a really nice blend of creamy and tart. My mom also liked it because it wasn’t overly sweet. A neat thing about it is that it comes in a glass cup.(I am into glassware of all different sizes and shapes, and I love when things are reuseable.) Their tiramisu also comes in a glass cup too!

Their sandwiches are the best! I always get the #2 with no peanuts! Their smoothies are big cups with plenty of boba! I come here about 3x a month for a sandwich and smoothie and i must admit, all that for $ 6.25 is a great deal. Too bad they dont take debit or credit, they really need to hop on that. Oh yeah they also have green waffles for $ 1.50 and its a big fluffy green waffle too. And they even have macaroons, mousse cakes, and other deserts. Theres like 5 tables and that’s it but everytime i go in here its empty. Overall, their food is good and employees are nice.

I just ate a pastry from here, but I’m not sure what it was called though. It was a mini tart sized pie crust and had a round ball of shredded coconut, it was good :)

My family really likes the jello cake here. We always order it for birthday parties or just to eat. I would definitely say it tastes fresher than other ones I’ve had. Sometimes they even run out, so be sure to get it sooner than later!

Unfortunately I have to rescind my earlier positive reviews about them. Yes, the baguette bread is still freshly baked. However, the content of the Viet sandwich has gone through radical changes. In fact, changes of distressful«epic proportions». 50% less meat & less veggies. I can’t say I will come back any longer, with so many other Viet sandwich places in the South Bay.

Oh, how the smells of freshly-baked bread makes me so utterly happy! And yes, though their bread is light, fluffy and even crispy on the ends, the sandwiches couldn’t meet the banh mi expectations that fatty Houston restaurants have set. For me, the meat to bread ratio was off-kilter… LOTS of(light and delicious) bread to not-so-much meat. I’m used to a tablespoon of lard, so this sandwich to me lacked a little bit of flavor. However, the bf loves this place(last time we went there he ate two sandwiches in one sitting), so I’ll still be able to get my wonderful bread craving fulfilled every once in a while. I have yet to buy a baguette on its own. I feel like the bread is so wonderful, the expectations of making something out of it that’s delicious is incredibly high. Maybe that’s why my disappointment in the sandwiches is that much greater. Well, I’d definitely recommend trying it out, Perhaps you’ll like the sandwiches more than me :) The bread is worth the trip alone! PS. Like many Asian establishments, this place is CASHONLY! Dum dum dum~~

I dropped by here right before it was about to close but the buns were still very fresh! I bought: –coconut sweet bun –taro bun –red bean bun –custard bun –coconut tarts –fresh handmade soy milk All the buns were super soft and tasty! Loved the fresh handmade soy milk! It’s unsweetened just the way I like it… and very generous portions too for $ 1.50! The service is excellent… quick and friendly. They also sell sandwiches, other pastries, and cakes. Prices are comparable if not cheaper than other bakeries. Will definitely come back for more!

Pretty cool place. Alright prices. Didn’t care for the green waffle I got, but it was cool that they made it fresh for me. I also got the single-serving chocolate cake. It was just alright. I want to try the sponge cake soon. Only 85 cents!
