I had been to this place last evening and ordered Chilli paneer dosa and a combo. Its Ausumn and delicious. Nice hospitality, Good environment, caring staff. Sambhar is little spicy as per my taste but I like eating at this place because of the variety of food offered everyday. Enjoyed the food a lot.

The Mango Lassi here is sooo good! Not too sweet and quite refreshing! Came at 945 pm to get a snack, ended up with a Mysore Masala Dosa to go and it was tasting super good when I got home and as a toasted leftover the day after! Service here is really worth 5 stars– Very comprehensive explanation of all the sabzis behind the counter and samples of everything were offered(maybe because I am visibly not Indian) — these guys stand behind their food without being cocky it’s great. Coming again soon :)

There are flies all over the place. They are in chutney containers kept outside for self serving. They are coming onto the tables while eating. It’s really bad. I asked the folks who are taking orders. They said would take care. But they didn’t. I think someone would eaten the chutney already by now. This place degenerated over the years. It’s new heights of uncleanliness. I just hope no one gets sick by eating here… This place doesn’t deserve any rating at all.

A litle inconsistent, but quite some positives. + easy no fuss ordering and you can get your favorite item in 5 oz and 8 oz boxes too + some of the food is very authentic andhra food + the kababs and bajji’s were excellent. — inconsistent taste, not evey item is great — Obviously some of the items are not as fresh as u want it, because it is served panda style

Service was REALLY good. Food flavor was just ok for me. I’d go back for a quick bite but would find a better place to sit down.

I saw this place a few months back and made a mental note to come try it. When I first walked in the guy behind the counter was super nice. He helped me pick from their many options. I got an eggplant option near the rice, it was so good. I also got butter chicken which was equally amazing! My experience here was phenomenal and I would definitely recommend them. One thing I will say though is you’d probably have to love spicy food to eat here lol

Definitely a good place to start trying indian food! Or to quickly get your indian fix cured! Currently my favorite place for indian express! I’ve brought many friends here and they have all liked it so far! In the summer, the place gets pretty hot as they don’t have AC, but… that’s rather typical of most casual Indian places. The selection is semi-limited in terms of the meat offerings, typically they offer butter chicken, tikka masala, chicken 65, lamb curry, and another spicy chicken one similar to the chicken 65. I have liked everything that I’ve tried so far! Which is pretty rare! There’s also a few veggie options and dessert options though I have yet to try those… The last few times I’ve visited, I noticed they have expanded their menu to the more lesser known Indian options, but to me they appear to be snacks as well as other food items, not on the warming table. I believe those are made to order. They look to be very decently priced, and I will try those next time. The last time I went in, one of the workers was preparing something in… perhaps a little cracker thats bowl shaped and he put all sorts of different sauces and items in there, and when I asked, they gladly gave me samples and OMG it was heaven extracted! The thing I like about lotus is they are rather lenient on the samples so don’t be afraid to try something new here! Definitely a plus for building my loyalty! As for the décor, it’s a very spacious feel when you’re inside, it’s pretty bright and inviting so it’s a very welcoming environment also. One thing that was slightly dissapointing was they stopped offering five stars… but oh well, I never remembered to ask for points anyways :/

This place is authentic Indian. If it’s too authentic and I get sick, I will update my review. Pros: tasty, very cheap, very generous proportions, very polite staff Cons: not the cleanest place(read: authentic), some dishes aren’t super fresh

I was waiting for my biryani at this place for10 mins there is no response from the waiters and their is a lot of base in his voice the people here have no manners. I’d like to rate the food experience as 3⁄5 but the ambiance and the culture of this place make it worse finally I say this is not a good place to chill out with friends. I like the carrot halwa sweet and the pakodi, the chicken curry was overcooked the food was okay but the culture isn’t. The water glasses smelled bad the vessels are not neat. Overall I give 3⁄5 for food and 1⁄5 for ambience and the rest of the things

Haven’t been back since at least a couple years, as there are many many Indian restos around. This time we only got naan and pakoras to go, since we made some food at home. The pakora was really crunchy and delicious, not soggy nor greasy. They did tell me they will make it fresh hence it will take a little longer wait.(It was worth it). I’m glad we didn’t eat there, the issue I had was that décor is starting to look tired. The chairs are stained and looking dingy(original color is fresh bright green, now imagine that dingy). 2 of the tall center tables are cracked and it really is an eye sore since the tables are bright white. However, it seems that they make the effort to keep the table tops and floors clean. The look of the dining room takes away from the dining experience. If I come back for the food, it would be «to-go» only.

1. this used to be my all time safe bet and ‘recommended to others’ place… not worth the initial charm anymore. 2. ambience is getting pretty unclean n bad day by day. 3. last couple of visits turned unsatisfactory with oil floating entrees and mediocre to bland tastes. not good to see the quality dwindling down where the peanut chutney is replaced by cheap dry coconut chutney and the yogurt raita turning down to more diluted portions. 4. and they have started to decline requests which they u used to honor before. out of munchurian?? better choose from others or leave is their new attitude. 5. turning out to be an average joe like place.

I went for lunch today and got a 1 entrée combo. I got the chicken biryani, roti and chilli gobi. The chicken biryani was way too bland and the chilli gobi was battered and fried which I thought was a mistake. Not everything has to be fried to taste good. I wish they had more vegetable options. The roti was ok but, it could have been cooked longer.

Me and my wife went to this restaurant today 09/19/2015 afternoon and it was a very bad experience. By looking at the food we can tell that it is not fresh. Food doesn’t taste good at all. Later this evening me and my wife felt sick and had a very bad stomach. Veg biryani has bits of cinnamon and star anise. All curries palak paneer, cholay peanut chutney tastes very mild. Everyone please be careful.

Pros: –very cute interior, clean and green! –very organized(vegetarian and non-vegetarian on-trays in different sections) –menu kind of like Panda Express(one side, select on-tray, select drink) –relatively healthy –reasonably priced –very fast service Cons: –quality of food(on-tray) is okay(like 3 star) (I’m Indian and the palak paneer/saag was like w runny green soup with a couple pieces of paneer. Tip: definitely get the naan as a side, it is really good. I would like to try this place again and get other on-trays. :)

This place is pretty legit! I went here once with a coworker and got 3 item combo to try a little bit of everything. It’s been a while since I came, but I remember the food being pretty good and the servers were all super friendly. They took the time to explain what unknown dishes to me were during lunch rush. They also have a five star so if you buy a certain amount, they’ll give you a free one! I will definitely come back here for a more accurate review and try different things.

My husband and I started frequenting this place due to the Groupon deal. And we are so glad we got to try it — the butter chicken is absolutely delicious! We also love their mango lassi — it has a smoother texture compared to other restaurants(ie chutney restaurant in sf and fremont). I enjoy eating the plain dosa here, just a bit bummed that they don’t have the spicy cilantro or tamarind chutney that I love. We aren’t a fan of their curry because it is not creamy nor as spicy as we expected. The pani puri also isn’t super great compared to this place in Berkeley. The customer service is consistently awesome! We have been here over 5 times and they are always kind and helpful.

I wanted to eat here a couple times before I gave them a review. The best way to describe this place is «It’s Panda Express however it has Indian food» The quality of the food is decent depending on what your getting. The majority of the patrons are almost always Indian(during the times I went) which to me means that the food is authentic. The reason why I am giving them 2 stars is customer service and not being able to communicate with the employees. I have food allergies so when I do ask a question they are unable to answer it(you would think they would find an employee who speaks English that can communicate with patrons) Each time I have ordered any curry based dish, they would give me the soup/curry and maybe a three pieces of chicken(knowingly they do this, they will scoop out curry rather than chicken and put only a few pieces of chicken) every single time I have asked them for more chicken. Not ok at all, I’m sorry but as paying customer I feel this is unethical. The salad is normally fresh and crisp, however the pieces of carrots /tomatoes are super huge. You are given plastic utensils so you can’t really cut the salad. The last time I went they ran out of salad and I was told the kitchen was closed. I got a very small portion of salad but I was charged for it. They did offer me rice and naan but I didn’t want either because of food allergies. I did have a really bad food allergy reaction last time I ate here. I did try to ask the employee what the ingredients where but because of the language barrier they couldn’t understand what I was asking. The prices are reasonable, the food is decent, and the service is quick(since everything is pre made) Not sure if I will return here again.
