Clean, cordial, regulars including many Vietnamese, next to the Chinese noodle place in the Strip mall next to Safeway. Don’t know the history, but Luu is a common surname for the Chinese diaspora residing in Vietnam. I ordered Phở Tai Bo Vien, or combo rare beef and beef balls. The Tai was excellent, filet slices versus the more common and cheaper Round cut. The broth had a lot of depth of flavor, and came out nice and hot. I ordered a small, but the bowl was huge, bigger than most Mediums or even Larges in some other Phở places. I received good service, my bowl of phở came out 2 minutes after ordering it, my Mango smoothie 5 minutes. I also was asked if I wanted water or hot tea, so I got a pot of hot tea promptly. Prices are a buck higher than similar places, but the quality and quantity seems superior, too. All the condiments you could want are right on your table, including Hoy Sin, Sri Racha, Nuoc Mam, Chinese style Chili Oil and Chili Paste, Soy Sauce, and Salt-N-Peppah.(«Aww, push it, push it real good») Also chopsticks, forks, sugar, napkins, and small condiment dishes. The soup spoon comes out with your bowl. A lot of Phở choices in these here parts, and I would but this place in the upper half, not the bottom half.

My new favorite place for Phở. I ordered the rare filet mignon phở with my meat on the side, and it was absolutely delicious! The portions are huge and and you even get a pot of tea with your order. The broth was the best I’ve ever tasted, and the prices are cheap(under $ 10 a bowl). I also ordered a lychee smoothie w/bobas for dessert, and that was excellent as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone who like traditional vietnamese phở.

I have been here a couple times now. It is located right next to Tung Kee Noodle. They have the same owner, just making different noodoo. The Phở is good. I ordered the #1combo which has ox tail in it amongst a plethora of other meats and goodies. Their goi cuon is very good and made fresh to order. It feels like TK Noodle inside, but the menu is different for sure. The service is 500% better than TK and most other Phở restaurants. I will definately be back to try more dishes.

Been here twice so far. Simple joint and clean. Solid phở — broth was hot and flavorful. Good amount of meat. The vinegared onion(love this and always request when I get phở) could be better. Still got quite a pungent taste and not as thin and crisp as it could be. Service was quick and friendly. The first time we were here. My gf ordered a vermicelli bowl, no beansprouts. It came out with beansprouts. She wasn’t happy and was sorting them out, but a young man whose hair as slick as Travolta from Grease noticed and asked us what’s wrong. He apologized and brought out an empty bowl for my gf to dig out the beansprouts. Despite error, it was nice they acknowledge and did something about it. 3.5÷5 stars. We’ll be back!

The service is top-notch for a phở place, the staff(at least one of them) was super friendly and always make small talks whenever we visit. The food itself was good, I liked the oxtail and filet mignon phở, which you don’t get at a less authentic place. The place is usually clean and not too crowded, and that’s a definite plus!

From reading reviews it sounds like the staff and food prep can vary, thanks to all the reviews, I found this place. I have had two stellar experiences here. I can only attest to the filet mignon phở(no. 4). The basil and bean sprouts were very fresh, not slimy or wilted like many phở places. The cut and quality of the meat was very good for phở, and reasonable generous portion of meat. The broth was delicious kinda mellow with sweet onion flavor and the portion balance between broth, meat, noodle, onions was perfection. Everything tasted very fresh, healthy and flavorful. The broth was so good, I do sort of suspect they may add MSG to the broth. If you are allergic to MSG, I recommend mentioning that when ordering. My experience it was clean and the service quick. My favorite Phở place in the East and South bay.

This review is for the phở. I LOVE the phở here. I’d never been here until I moved to Milpitas from San Jose; now this is the only place I’ll get phở in the area. I’ve tried Phở Kim Long and honestly I like this phở so much more than theirs. It’s like the Phở Y #1 of San Jose. I love the broth here. It’s on the heavier side and slightly sweet. There’s nowhere else like it(that I know of). My mouth is watering as I type. I always get the number 6, phở with filet mignon and trimmed beef brisket. They give a great portion of meat and tons of noodles. I usually have to take probably half of it home for another meal the next day(not complaining)! It’s just simply delicious. The servers are always very friendly and nice, and the service is quick! Appreciate the added touch of the free fortune cookie too!

I love this place, the Phở with Filet and Brisket is spot on. I think their broth is the best in Milpitas by far. My kids love it too.

I was never greeted and the environment felt awkward. I also wasn’t escorted to a table or anything so I chose my own seat. Waited for about 7 minutes and yet no one gave me any service, so I grabbed some menus laying on the table near the entrance. If I wasn’t mistaken, one of the servers was just eating at the table while ignoring my presence. I wanted to leave because this type of business doesn’t deserve my money but I was too hungry. Once I ordered my rice plate, I was relieved and thought I would forgive this place, but guess what, there was two hairs on my tomato sitting on my salad that reaches about two inches. That ruined my appetite and this will be my last time getting near this place. I do not recommend eating here because of their customer service and their disgusting act of leaving hair on my food. DONOTEATHERE!

They have ox tail as one of the meat choices. For that reason alone, I like this place. The broth in the phở is slightly sweet. I like that too. It’s new, so it’s not as crowded as other phở places around. Another plus.

I was here for a late lunch/early dinner, earlier, and that was such a bad experience. No one greets me as I walk in, instead they just wait until I get to the cash register before I’m acknowledged. They had asked what I wanted, but I had no idea – I didn’t even get the chance to look at the menu, yet! So I ask for it, and the dude just points to the menu that’s taped onto the counter.(The woman next to him was nice enough to hand me a menu, before the dude told her to put it away.) so I looked at the menu in the counter and made my choice, spoke it in Vietnamese to him, and he replies, «Ha?» Like I’m speaking gibberish or whatever. So I just gave him the number of the dish, and when he asked me if that was it, I told him I wanted a Sinh To Bo. Yet, again, he responds, «Ha?» I may speak fluent English, but I can speak just as fluent in my native tongue, thank you. The dish wasn’t even that good, so I may work in the same plaza, but I am definitely NEVER coming back.

This is my first visit to Phở Luu. This place is located next door to New Tung Kee Noodle House. Both are owned by the same owner. It has the same setup as New Tung Kee with the booths. The booths feel a bit cramped to me. The place is small with about 15 booths. They probably wanted to fit as many tables as they could, which would explain why it’s a bit cramped. But the place is kept clean and utensils at the tables were also clean! Very good sign! They offer different combinations of phở, rice plates and vermicelli bowls in their menu. We opted for some hot phở and some spring rolls! The spring rolls were very good! It was fresh, a generous size, and the peanut sauce that accompanied it had a nice consistency and excellent flavor! This is starting off real good! The phở that I ordered was a small #6, which had filet mignon & trimmed brisket. It was pretty good! It arrived pipping hot with a good amount of veggies. The broth was flavorful and the meat was very tender! The noodles were cooked perfectly! They put in more noodles than I could consume. For a small bowl, it was filled generously. The service was very good! The waiter and waitress that helped were very friendly and accommodating. I think we got ourselves a winner here!!! Good food, good service & a clean establishment is a recipe for a great place to eat! If they can maintain all three then I’m confident that Phở Luu will be successful. I certainly will be coming back!

This is our new fav phở place! The best chicken noodle soup ever! Many phở places use those frozen chicken strips that taste blah, and I never eat. They use fresh chicken here! It makes a big difference! At first I wasn’t a fan of the broth, until I realized that other phở places probably pre-add sriracha sauce into the broth. I came to this conclusion, when I kept adding sriracha into the broth, and I wasn’t getting the usual spicy level I experience when adding into the soup. Normally I only add a little, but I put in a healthy amount, and that was the trick. Broth was good! I tried a stead dish here previously, and that was ok. The soup though… way yum!!!

We went here yesterday for dinner and it was fine. Everyone in the family ordered phở and said that the meat was good. I had the vermicelli with the grilled prawns. I liked how this dish came with 6 prawns compared to other Vietnamese places that give 2 prawns. There are three dishes listed on the menu for vegetarians, which had tofu and vegetables. Since this place opened a few weeks ago, everything was clean and new. If you get the Milpitas post, there is a 10% off coupon for the grand opening.

The service is good. The lighting in the restaurant is interesting and makes it feel like a flashy food court version of Tung Kee at night. The egg rolls are nothing like your typical Vietnamese egg rolls. They’re Tung Kee egg rolls so they’re humongous and two will take out most of your appetite. Fortunately, they’re delightful to finish. The nem nuong comes with orange sauce. The orange sauce doesn’t taste like much. The grilled sausage tasted fresh but the overall roll was more difficult to chew. The skin became stale very quickly so eat fast. At the end of your meal, you can grab a free fortune cookie when paying at the counter and/or purchase a whole bag of fortune cookies.

Ordered a #1. Over priced if you ask me, $ 8.25 for a small? I rather eat at Phở Cuong in San Jose! Tastes better and way cheaper, plus they have tripe. I could not believe they didn’t have tripe! The waitress said she was gonna talk to the owner to add tripe. I found this really unusual because most phở places serve tripe in their phở. Well… My #1 was missing beef balls and the filet mignon. The #1 clearly says it came with«filet mignon, brisket, oxtail, tendon, and beef balls.» Oh and on top of that they forgot our Thai Tea, the waitress excuse was«oh sorry I think we gave it to another table.» ヾ(-_-;) Definitely not the best phở place in Milpitas

Same set up as Tung Kee Noodle next door. Very clean, bare minimum décor. Menu includes phở, rice plates, rolls and drinks. Their phở noodle is different than the TK noodles, as it actually taste more like traditional phở with the seasonings and comes with a side of bean sprouts, veggie, jalapeño and lime. Prices are a little high, but they give you plenty of food, so I suppose it evens out. Their goi cuon(fresh spring rolls) are spot on which I was pleasantly surprised. I’m a bit picky when it comes to goi cuon and I give this place a thumbs up! The sauce they make fresh and it may sometimes even be a little warm when it arrives. I tried their grilled pork with vermicelli and lettuce — very light and refreshing and still filling. What’s nice is their fish sauce is not too sweet and the grilled pork is done just right. They have lots of fruit smoothies to choose from as well along with a traditional café sua da which is their espresso coffee with condensed milk and ice. Will definitely be back!

If you are a fan of the Tung Kee Noodle next door then you will be a fan of this establishment. Why you might ask? Well it is the same owner and he really knows how to run a business. You will notice the same décor and layout as the sister restaurant next door and even some of the same waiters. We were going to get a bowl of Mi next door but noticed they opened, so stopped by to take a look at the menu. One of the employees actually came to the door to beckon us inside. He guaranteed us the best bowl of phở we had ever eaten. Thats a lofty promise. Needless to say, my girls ordered the phở and they seemed to enjoy it. It was filet mignon with meatballs. You guessed it, same style meatballs from next door which we love. The bowl was $ 9.25 for a small if I remember correctly but they gave a good quantity of meat. I just ordered a bowl of grilled shrimp and vermicelli. That was just OK to me. Not the best but what do you expect when ordering something else besides phở at a phở restaurant. Good place to stop by for a quick lunch. No frill just simple good food. 3.5 stars

This new phở joint surprised me today. Surprised that it’s right next to a popular noodle house, and surprised that Water Bamboo Crepes and More is closed… a place I frequented for Mitchell’s Ice Cream. No more desserts here, but on with some Vietnamese cuisine! Their Phở Dac Biet had some nice chunks of oxtail. Broth was decent and seems like all bowls are meaty. At $ 9 for a large #1, it should be meaty! Grilled sausage spring rolls with crunch were better than average. I’m sure I’ll come back for these. Their grilled pork rice plate was bigger than average, and will leave you with lethal burps like other Com Tam restaurants. I was here for their Grand Opening… and I wonder how long that will be. Cleanliness(so far) and service were superb! Good to know that this restaurant is NOT cash only. They accept Visa/MasterCard.
