My family went here for dinner for my mom’s birthday. The place was empty. No other patrons and all tables weren’t set up. No one greeted us at the door. I had to say,“hello?,” out loud to get attention. Food came out in a timely manner. Our server was attentive and checked up on us multiple times. I liked the fried rice, Chinese brocolli with oyster sauce and bbq chicken the most. The on going joke for the night was that we rented the whole place just for my mom’s dinner.

I came here for a small wedding banquet. Our area was the non private but quiet secluded in the front of the restaurant and we could see what’s going on in the main room from our area. The banquet was a 9 courses meal started with seaweed, calamary, shrimp, cucumber salad with sweet and sour dressing. The portion was humungous and quiet a show stopper! The salad was very crunchy, fresh and refreshing. Most of the caucasian friends enjoy this dish but for me it was a bit over-dressed, too much dressing for my liking. 2nd course was egg drop soup with some crab meat. Delicious and a great dish to clear the throat. Very delicate and lightly salted, yummy. 3rd course was deep fried quails… all of the caucasians at my table had never had it before but they were all(but one who was a pescaterian) immediately digged in with their bare hand to eat the quail. It was actually very falvorful and not greasy. I think this was one of the best dish that they served that night. 4th course was cashew prawns which is their twist of the regular honey walnut prawns at chinese restaurant. The prawns were big, deep fried and glaced in mayo-sweet-sauce and tossed with some cashews. 5th course was fried rice with some chopped bbq pork. The taste was a bit garlicky and nothing to rave about, certainly had better tasting fried rice elsewhere. 6th course was boneless but not skinless roasted chicken in some kind of plum/hoisin sauce. I didn’t care for this dish as I didn’t like the taste of the sauce, a bit too salty and has a hint of that hoisin thing that I don’t care for. 7th course was black pepper beef with lots of onions and green bellpepper. The beef was tender but again, I’ve certainly had better versions elsewhere as theirs is not as fragrance(there is a certain smokey aroma in chinese/asian cooking that is usually achieve when you fry something with a high heat/fire, they failed this technique here). 8th course was a whole deep fried catfish(complete with head and tail!) with sweet and sour sauce. I love fish and I’ve had this type of dish many times before! Their version was a bit odd… they had black olives and fresh grape tomatoes poured on the fish… olives are not asian! ahahahah The taste was ok, again, not that great, just so so. This was also quiet a show stopper as most of the people never really had fish with the head and tail still in tact! 9th course was fresh honeydew and cantaloupe. Very juicy and sweet :) The party in the main room used the stage for singing various karaōke and we could hear them. very very very loud so that was a bit distracting and took away from the event that we were at. So if you plan to have an event at this place… unless you book the whole restaurant, be prepared to be forced to «participate» in others’ festivity as it’s not private at all. What was important that night though was to celebrate our friends marriage and it was accomplished.

They have lots of traditional dishes that most Vietnamese restaurants don’t have. The food isn’t spectacular but is very enjoyable. The ingredients are fresh and they don’t overdo condiments but instead uses fresh ingredients. For example, they use real fruits, vegetables and herbs to make their sauces sweet, sour or aromatic rather than using sugar and vinegar. I don’t understand the other reviews but the price is very competitive and the service was excellent. The waiters and waitress all speak Vietnamese except one but she was very nice. They even made specials not on the menu for us. The place was nicely decorated with art and very clean which is a must for my wife.

I love coming in to TA restaurant for my lunch special. They have a very good price, lot of options for lunch time. My favorite dish is Hu Tiu Sai Gon kho^(SaiGon noodle with soup on the side). But overall, everything is good here. I will start to try everything on the menu each week. I love the atmosphere not like other places, it’s nice to be away from your desk for 1 hours to eat lunch peacefully. The place is clean, the staffs are extremely friendly and providing you with outstanding, excellent customer service. It’s a must to come here and bring your friends, co-workers to lunch/dinner. You will be glad that you did.

If your looking for dinner and dancing then this is the place to be. This place offers Vietnamese food and has a stage and a dance floor too. I hosted my dad’s 60th birthday dinner here and bought a banquet dinner for his family and friends to enjoy together. So after dinner on the weekends you have to pay a $ 10 entrance fee to be seated on the dance floor. They play Vietnamese music for dancing so if you’re good at ballroom dancing and want to hit the floor with some dance moves then this is the place to be on the weekend. I would have to say the food was a-ok and they charged us for more the fun atmosphere then the quality but nonetheless it was still good. There is a bar that you can order drinks from or they offer a corkage fee. Oh, another cool thing to take note of is that if you like to participate in love singing then you can do this too only if you know the lyrics off by heart since there is no television to read off from.

Quiet elegant and top quality Vietnamese food. Not your usual noodle shop but rather a arts deco with half circle booths. Somewhat of a best kept secret. U can ask for the lunch menu during dinner if u prefer.

My family and I decided to try Ta Restaurant in Milpitas. Unfortunately, I was not very pleased with the food and service. My mom, dad, and brother ordered the a few of the cold noodle bowls with grilled pork, shrimp, and fried egg rolls. I decided to order the sesame encrusted salmon with garlic noodles and vegetables. The cold noodle bowl with pork was very good. The meat was flavorful and extremely lean. I would have to say that it was probably the best grilled pork I’ve had in a while. I also liked how they put a lot of mint leaves, dicon, carrots, and cilantro in the bowl. The egg roll was a total miss and lacked flavor and was chewy. It seemed like they forgot to add seasoning completely. My salmon was great but the garlic noodles were terrible and tasted like under seasoned soggy top ramen noodles. Yuck. The dish also came with lots of pineapple which was not mentioned. I’m not a fan of pineapple and they should put that on the entrée description instead of putting just vegetables. Pineapple is not a vegetable! The service was absolutely terrible. First of all, they gave my brother the wrong dish. Second, the food took a while to come out and all dishes were not given at the same time. For example, our fried rice took very long and was given towards the end of the meal. Even my lychee ice tea took forever. Why was the service was so bad? I have no idea because the restaurant was practically empty. Anyways, I would only come back for the cold noodle bowl. I’m not sure if it’s even worth it with the bad service though. These guys need to make some serious improvements to their service and food.

This Vietnamese Restaurant is spacious, food is good and the price is decent. However, for some strange reasons, the customers are few. Maybe, it position itself as a Event Place where people can hold party. It is great for these events such as Birthday, Xmas party, etc when the space is really good and price is decent and everyone will have a good PRIVATE time together and not bother by walk-in customers. The stage is perfect as well.

If you’re looking for a nice Vietnamese restaurant, Ta Restaurant would probably fit the bill. Although it’s in a strange location, the food is pretty good, and the restaurant is tad more upscale/appealing than your typical Vietnamese joint. Of course, with a nicer restaurant comes higher prices, so be ready to spend a little more than usual. The Goi Ta was pretty good. I liked that it was a little different/special with the crispy aloe pieces. The shaking beef was tender and flavorful(which I would expect it to be because it’s hard to mess this one up). The duck that came with the banh phong was tasty and different, but the duck was a little tough. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough duck to go with the banh phong. The clay pot sea bass was really good, and surprisingly, much better than the caramelized sea bass which didn’t retain the usual sea bass sweetness like the clay pot did. While everything was decent at the very least, I think the Thai hot pot was much sweeter than it should have been. For the price, the food could be better, but that’s not to say that it wasn’t enjoyable.

This restaurant is shockingly empty during a saturday lunch hour. The food is competent though– Competent but not great. 1. Catfish clay pot: Probably their best dish on this day. The only criticism is that it is a tad on the sweet side. Incidentally Huong Lan Sandwich in the adjacent strip mall does a great rendition of this dish for a lot less money. 2. Charbroiled chicken: fairly well made and the portion is generous. Granted, this is a vietnamese restaurant staple(usually found on rice plates), so you would expect nothing less. 3. Grilled eggplants: fairly well made, but the taste is rather subdued. Especially when compared to the thai version which has a very sharp taste. 4. Kaffir lime prawn noodles: The prawns are alright, but the sauce on the noodle is only so-so. Truong Thanh in the Ulfert Mall does a much better and sharper version of this dish. 5. Cube steak: It is fairly soft and tasty, but once again Truong Thanh does a superior, sharper tasting version of this. In summary, all of the dishes were fairly decent, but each of them could be found better done in other local places. The taste is just a tad muddled on all the dishes. The prices are on the expensive side. The ambiance is fairly good, but in all, not a particularly compelling restaurant.

TA is a very quiet, elegant place to dine. This place is clean and staffs are nice. I come here quite often with friends for lunch. I recommend the Fusion Rolls, Kaffir Lime Prawns Noodles, Cube Steak, Spicy Basil Chicken, Shrimp Cake Tofu Tomato Noodles. I always add a fried egg with everything I eat here(goes good with the meal)… try it :)

It’s restaurants like these that always remind me that just because a restaurant isn’t crowded at lunchtime doesn’t necessarily mean the quality of their food is severely lacking. Oh, au contraire! It’s been while since I had Hainan chicken with chicken rice(simply referred to as «com ga Hainan», $ 7.95). And to be frank, it was probably one of the best I’ve had in a long time(excluding my own mother’s version). It’s simply steamed chicken with ginger-infused rice with a side of fish sauce(nuoc mam) with ginger bits in it, but the two key components are the sauce and the rice, which this dish nailed perfectly. I’ve always had the rice a little more dry than usual, which this dish didn’t accomplish, but it worked out surprisingly well! And the sauce was very flavorful and even, not too overwhelming nor bland. I’m glad I ordered this one. The appetizer, which were spring rolls(~$ 4 per dish) kind of disappointed in one aspect: there was an orange-colored dip, which is completely foreign to me although it’s Vietnamese cuisine, that tasted really bland. It was strange, I don’t know what they were trying to accomplish there. Oh, and in terms of the venue itself, it’s probably one of the more nicer Vietnamese restaurants, with a dancefloor and a full bar. They probably hold some rumba/cha cha events for the older Vietnamese crowd or something… Anyway, I’d love to be back sometime when I can!

I really enjoyed my food. I came with a good friend and had: Ta Salad — lovely and fresh Grilled prawns with Egg rolls — again, delicious and fresh Fried banana with coconut ice-cream — loved the slight layer of chocolate inside the banana For lunch it wasn’t busy, so we were seated and food came out really good.

I had my wedding reception here but I’m not sure if I would recommend it to anyone. Pricing per table is reasonable but the owners are pretty shady, they wanted to charge us for everything. I had to negotiate with them for them to remove the cake cutting fee and water/soda fee… who the heck charges for water/soda??? If you have more than 200 guests, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Even though they say their capacity is 300 guests, that would be wayyy tooo crowded. In addition, they only have 180 chairs so if you have more than that many guests, they will have folding chairs… so your chairs will not match for the whole party. I had to rent my own chairs and brought it in. I will say that the food is good. It is not typical Chinese or Vietnamese food that you find at most Asian wedding. However, my husband sister’s table did not get the Sea bass dish. They complained to 3 different servers and at the end, the servers just said that it was misplaced or something so that table never got the Sea bass dish, which was the most expensive dish on the menu. I didn’t hear about it until after the wedding otherwise I would’ve complained to the owners because that is unacceptable. All in all, if you want to have your wedding reception here, here are my tips to make it a nice reception: –Around 200 guests or less(more would be crowded and uncomfortable for your guests) –Bring in your own chair and have a good decorator –Negotiate with the owners –Make sure every table get all the food promised

I think this is a great restaurant in a wrong location. We’ve been here 3 times already, the price is reasonable, the food is tasty, the atmosphere is relaxing and the service is extremely nice. The restaurant is located in the corner of a not so nice shopping center, if it’s in the new auto mall shopping center with 5 guys burgers or Chef Chang, it will do great business. It was Thursday evening at there were two families in the restaurant including us. The kids love the Lemongrass pork chops and sesame chicken wings, we like the basil beef and Ta salad combo. We noticed the portions before were little, now the portions are better in sizes. The food still tastes great, since the kids like the food, we’ll be here more often.

More like a 2.5 stars, but I rounded upward. I came here with a bunch of friends and my husband for a charity dinner party the week before Christmas. I don’t remember all of our courses — read: the food wasn’t that memorable. The food was very mild, bland, or otherwise too sweet. Here’s what we had: — Basil tofu and eggplant(super bland everything, and the tofu was not crispy or at least light and flavorful) — Crispy egg noodles with vegetables and either seafood or beef(I don’t remember). It was bland, and I hate it when any restaurant serves the noodles in a nest shape, because it’s impossible to remain classy while breaking up the egg noodle nest with your hands to actually eat some noodles. — Fake shark fin soup, which was terrible not for the lack of actual shark fin, which I don’t want to eat anyway, but for the lack of flavor — Shrimp/grilled pork salad with tender greens was okay but was too sweet and overdressed. — Fried rice was lame and too typical. — Roasted quail: Best dish of the night, because it was very juicy and tender, but it could have used some extra pizzazz with some extra flavor. I grew up in Milpitas, and I went to this restaurant back when it was Bleu Ginger(hate fusion food) and way back when it was just a dim sum restaurant named Fung Jen Palace. For some reason, the restaurant seems to have shrunk in size very unnaturally. I’m pretty sure it was because the restaurant put up wall dividers, but it was very awkward. Further, this restaurant is so freaking dark. However, some attributes of this restaurant are that the staff was very sweet and quick on their feet, the flatware/silverware were very clean and modern, and the restaurant itself is very clean. from what i could tell in the darkness. I don’t know if we’ll be returning for any other reason than events, weddings, or other occasions where we’ve been invited here by others.

Worse restaurant by far. I see all these stupid commercials on the Vietnamese channel about this restaurant making it look all fancy.(Trust me it’s just the lighting and all the money the put into advertising) Even worse, the waiter and waitress didn’t freaking speak Vietnamese!!! I went to my cousin’s wedding Thanksgiving weekend, and the meal was just horrible. My stomach ached after the third dish. My mother’s stomach was aching and we had to stop at a gas station after the wedding to use the restroom. The food was stupid. Spring rolls for a starter that was bland? trust me the food tasted bland or either really salty or overly sweet. Just flat out BAD!!! The portions were ridiculously small. Everyone literally complained about the food and how terrible it tasted and how there wasn’t even a lazy susy to spin the food around for a table of 10. See because of this horrible experience, another cousin that was getting married and picked this same restaurant for his wedding in beginning of December Changed the venue last minute to another restaurant. SUPERB choice because NHAHANGTA(TARESTAURANT) is a piece of crap. Oh btw if you book it for over 20 tables or so(we had like 35) the other 15 will be cramped in the back area where it seems like another sectioned off area where you aren’t even a part of the wedding. If you want to plan a wedding here, go else where. Don’t waste your money and time because your relatives will be talking about how bad your wedding was for years and years to come. If I could, I’d give them ZERO stars!

Went here yesterday for lunch with my aunt and uncle(they’ve been there before once). It was my first time here and my first impressions were not very good impressions: –low staffed. –the resturant was no filled up and no one was in the front(it was a place where you have to wait to be seated… we waited for awhile), the waitresses probably wouldn’t even noticed us(except for the fact my aunt and uncle weren’t waiting in the front at all). –don’t take older people here… THELIGHTISSODIM. bad for poor eyesight, can’t read a thing. I know all about dim lighting and setting the mood. anyways. –the waitresses can’t even speak in Vietnamese. what kind of restaurant is this? which is a downside. for language barriers. the food itself was decent. I think my aunt and uncle got something better than I did. I got the KAFFIRLIMESPRAWNSNOODLE(Mì Khô t Bit). I was disappointed with my dish. I really wouldn’t go here again unless I had to and definetly order something else.(I do have to give them a thumbs up for trying and it was something different. but it wasn’t that special as the dish name presents itself) very sad contemporary take on traditional cuisine. Non-Vietnamese people might not even know the damn difference. PROS: CLEAN decent pricing(my aunt and uncle prefer this over eating phở all the time) CONS: low staffed, unnecessary wait at times, non-fluent(viet) waitresses, harsh dim lighting(for the few), don’t come here for traditional vietnamese food.
