I’ve frequented this place many times during the good ol’ drinking days. They’re open late, service is fast, and the food is hearty enough to tame an alcohol-filled belly. This is one of the few places in South Bay where they have baked pork chop over rice. Not as good as the ones from the Hong Kong cafes in LA, but it’ll do! Be careful on the weekends because as with any late night place filled with drunk people, I’ve heard that it can get a little rowdy depending on the crowd!

Good place for a simple HK-style meal. Open late, takeout is very fast, and prices are great. A little bit grimy inside, but haven’t gotten sick yet…

I’ve been on a mission to find good Portuguese baked chicken. This place was okay; not amazing but not bad. There was a lot of sauce for the amount of chicken and there were gloops in the sauce; I’m not sure why. There were onions and bell peppers too, and the sauce was quite yellow. The flavor was pretty good, I just wish there were more pieces of chicken and more vegetables too! I did like that the rice came separately though. Service was alright; not too great. We had to ask for water and for the check, and they made us wait a while for water too. Quality of food is okay, quantity is a bit lacking for the price; the dish was $ 8.95 pre-tax, which I guess is acceptable. I don’t think I’ll be coming back here though; I’ll probably stick to Wok Star’s baked portuguese chicken!

Five stars for service. I especially like the lady who work evening shift. She’s very accommodating and I observed she remembers what regular patrons like. I agreed with other Unilocalers that the place look dirty, but recent visit last week I notice the restaurant has new paint and touched up on their counter. Food are mediocre, typical Cantonese quick café menu. A definite place to visit for quick bites and late night patrons.

Ok this place is smaller and less busy than China palace. It does not look very clean but it was not busy at all so we decided to go here. The place is pretty average, the service was pretty fast maybe because there are only a few tables. Like the servers did not go out of the way to give the best service but was pretty much average. The price was pretty cheap and the portioning was good for the price. I ordered the salt and pepper pork chops but there was a lot of onions and peppers than meat though. It was pretty good but I felt they used a lot of fatty pieces though. In all I would not mind coming here again to try something else on the menu.

Ah first time here, a couple of my friends swear by this place on the asian side of McCarthy ranch. Service — The service was just as it should be, questions and repetitively coming back to check if we were okay. So here’s what I had tried through the course of the meal. Won Ton Noodle Soup(–1) — The wonton’s were as generic as the noodles, and they give you a ton of noodles. The only thing that kept me eating it was the decent broth. Calamari Rings — Nothing to rave about, anybody can fry up some calamari rings from costco and add some slivered onions Half/Half rice(–2) — Abomination, rice was dry. The shrimp used was packaged small shrimp, not fresh, with a wanna be alfredo sauce that just exudes jar-ism. The red side was tomato paste mixed with a little spices and water, topped off with sliced chicken; it’s like the sauce in Spaghetteos. Side Soup — Chicken broth mixed with tomato paste. Fried rice — Ah the winner of the night, fresh rice with slices of cabbage and some meat. Perfect savoriness. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Overall — It’s the perfect spot for after Dave n Busters because it’s open till 3am. If I do come back, I’m trying the fried porks, with the fried rice. Unilocal!

Got excited to finally find and try something open late in the milpitas area but was definitely disappointed… The waitress was really nice but it didn’t make up for what was in store for us… We were first served these soups prior to our entrée but they weren’t even hot …it tasted bland and a little off like canned soup. My friend, who was looking through Unilocal pictures, showed us a picture of someone that found a dead fly in their soup… so all of us immediately passed on the soup(and kind of lost our appetite). I ordered the beef chow fun. The beef was bland and really chewy… definitely not melt in your mouth texture. The texture of the noodles weren’t too soft, which I liked, but it was definitely too oily. There was way too much bean sprout thrown in(ended up pretty much at the bottom of my plate) and I would’ve preferred onions added in to give some sweetness. There is usually a nice heat coming from the black pepper and stir fry for a good chow fun but this plate was definitely lacking in all aspects. To top it off, my friend had ordered a a chicken fried rice and threw it up an hour later. I think coming back here is #10000000 on my bucket list right now.

It’s good, but would it really hurt to keep the place clean? It’s filthy, I get the heebie jeebies just looking underneath the tables and the wall and everything. And it’s not like wiping down the tables with disinfectant is enough, it’s like the old and worn out kind of filthy. The water cups don’t look clean, and quite frankly the only reason I may have not gotten food poisoning from this place is because they cook their meals extremely hot. The plates and utensils are all scratched up, probably really old, washed and scrubbed down so much that its ruin the protective veneer on all of the equipment. I really like this place, but it’s a shame how unpleasant it feels and looks inside.

This place is decent with its selection of HK style food. I thoroughly enjoy their beef stew noodle soup which I usually get when I come here. Compared to the selection of restaurants in the plaza, this place stands out.

Dude. I love Top Café. Their jok(porridge) is about $ 5-$ 6, real good portion and authentically cantonese. Yum. I’d say choose the fried tofu over the fried calamari. Calamari is a bit chewy but tofu is always perfect. Rice plates are good, so are the baked dishes. My favorite is always baked dish with white sauce. I could eat that all day and happily forget it’s carb loading.

If you had a long day, find some joy in absolutely knowing that when you order some good ol’ HK style café food, you will feel better. Late night eats? This place hits the spot in your tummy. The food isn’t meant to be luxuriously delicious; it’s perfect as late night food. I had the beef and egg over chow fun noodles. Silky egg sauce, YUM. That being said, I enjoyed the experience I had just being here, not necessarily just because of the food. I enjoyed this place because it made me feel like I wasn’t in America. The workers talked in the rough sounding canto, throwing around«dieus» and canto slang. Love it. Old time Canto music was playing in the background and the waitress would sing along. I also love that the waitress didn’t assume I couldn’t speak canto and talked to me in canto instead. The place is a bit run down but I think it adds character. If you sit facing the register, you can look through the small opening and see into the kitchen where the chefs are laboring behind woks, steam coming off freshly cooked dishes. Overall, this place could be just the right remedy after an exhaustive day and you’re looking for a simple, comforting, hot meal.

This place is open late until 2 o’clock or 3 o’clock AM The service is great even though there is only one person there but they try to accommodate you as much as possible. What is scary is that the whole place is always pretty dirty. Floor, table and chair is usually dirty and sticky. Before it wasn’t as bad … the last couple of years it started getting worse. Thought it might have an improvement since another Top Café opened in Sam Jose, but I was very wrong. The kitchen was dirty and the cooks looks very dirty but it was expected for a Chinese restaurant of this type of pricing range what you don’t expect is to find penny size bug in your soup! Normally I wouldn’t even care that much but the soup was lukewarm which tells me its been sitting there for a while if a bug was there it might have just been crawled in and still uncooked

Boyfriend and I have been meaning to try another late night restaurant open other than Phở Mai, so we decided to come here after stopping by other restaurants in the McCarthy Plaza to find out that they were closed! First off, what I like about this place is that there is a security walking around. It seems the security knows the people working here which is cool, so he gets to chill in here when he wants. We received complimentary tomato soup, which I absolutely love about HK cafes. The I ordered fish filet and tofu over rice, while the boyfriend got pork chops baked in tomato sauce over rice. I didn’t get to eat his but he said it was good. I liked my food, but I thought more flavor could’ve been added. The lady working was super generous. I felt like since my bf talked to her in Chinese, she was impressed by it lol. Along with my bf’s food, he ordered a HK milk tea. As we were eating, she saw it empty and offered to refill it for free.(We’ve gone to SO many cafes and they’ve never done this for him before: P) I didn’t finish my plate, so she put it in a to-go box for me. She also saw my bf’s drink unfinished so she poured that into a to-go cup as well. Pretty cool since I don’t know too many restaurants that can to-go your beverages. All in all, we will definitely come back some time soon. The food is good and I’m always looking forward to trying other things on the menu at these types of restaurants.

O.M.G! Talk about SOOOOGOOD! I am so glad that I found this«hole-in-the-wall» Mom and Pops Chinese, Hong Kong inspired restaurant, their Asian fusion dishes are to die for! We ordered Oxtail in red wine sauce, Creamy chicken Portuguese style, and a seafood soup with pot stickers for an appetizer. Trust me, you will NOT be sorry if you come by and try them out, stat! Thank you, Top Café!

Made a phone order for the baked pork w spaghetti and tomato sauce(I had to say tomato b/c they have different sauces). I literally had to repeat my order hella times because the guy on the phone barely spoke or understood English. I asked to speak to someone who spoke English and he said, «yes» but still remained on the line… I wanted extra cheese, and he kept repeating«chillies.» –____– I told my bf they were going to get out order wrong and what do you know, they did. Instead, they made us spaghetti over yellow sauce w potatoes. How do you get yellow sauce from tomato sauce and potatoes from pork… lol??? The worker gladly made a new one and we brought it home to eat. Almost done w our food, my bf found a little friend. Yes, a bug… Despite all that, the dish wasn’t bad and reminded me of Filipino spaghetti b/c it was sweet. Just wish they gave more pork and more cheese like I had asked for.

This place is definitely one of the better HK cafés around! The service is pretty good and the auntie is very nice and generous! I always come in a big group for a late dinner and the wait is pretty good. The place is kind of small but it has a nice HK feel to it. It does get busy pretty quickly, but it’s a nice place for your HK good cravings! I got the baked pork chop over rice and the salt and pepper tofu. It is pretty delicious and it’s one of the most popular dishes. I always get this when I come here. Their drinks are so on point. I love their HK styled milk tea and lemon iced tea. They even have Horlick, which is so rare! I definitely recommend this place. The price is decent and the portion is great. I love that they open really late, too.

This place is cheap and just down right home tasting. They are always open late. My favorite things to order here is really the fried chicken wings and the porridge. The beef and pepper fried udon is also super delicious here. The salt and pepper fish is definitely on the saltier side but delicious with porridge. =D

I ordered two soups from this place since I like to have something hot and soupy. The soups came out fast, which I appreciated. My chicken corn soup was quite bland so I ended up dumping some white pepper for some flavor. The wonton soup was on par though. It even had a lot of bok choys! This place is opened late, me and my two friends were on our way back from clubbing in San Francisco and we decided we wanted to get a quick bite before heading home. Luckily we got here at 2:50am, 10 minutes before closing but the workers here still allowed us to have a seat without a hint of that«seriously?» attitude. :) Our server was super attentive even though it was quite packed and late at night, I appreciate their effort in keeping us happy. I was not a fond of the bugs that were swarming around though. It must just be the location, since the place across from them were open just as late(but did not let us have a seat…) and theirs was crawling with these flying bugs too.

It’s a small place. Really small. I also expected it to be less gray and white. I couldn’t help but stare at the yellows walls with white rectangles where pictures must’ve been. It didn’t matter; I was there to try the HK style baked rice I used to have as a kid. I should’ve went with the pork chop. I had a tough time making a decision, but in the end I ordered the seafood baked rice. Looking back, I really wish I had ordered something tomato-based. We also ordered the fried tofu appetizer, and he had the sirloin. The baked rice was good. The cheese gratin was great, and they didn’t skimp on the seafood. Granted, it was cheap seafood, but everything there was cheap. The richness of the sauce and heaviness of the white rice is what got me – I couldn’t eat much of it. I had some of the steak, which was quite large. The only thing we finished between the two of us was the fried tofu. Not because it was that good – lacked flavor, but really crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside – but that it was a lot lighter than the rest of our meal. Everything came out to a little over $ 30, but it was a lot of food. I took most of my baked rice home and had it for lunch the next day.

3.5 stars. Would have rounded up instead of down, but the day-shift lady is rude and unfriendly. The night shift lady is super nice and remembers who we are and what we like to order every time. At 2AM, this is the place we always go to fulfill any Chinese food craving, mostly just because we like the lady who works the night shift. Food is average. Cash only.
