Blooming Lotus! I’m SO happy you are here. I have been grain free for nearly a year now and, while gluten-free options are available seemingly everywhere you turn, grain free is most certainly not. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a grain free option at a bakery anywhere ever, but now… an entire bakery dedicated to grain free deliciousness! Somehow I only learned of your existence today, although you’ve been open for months. The scones are amazing and the biscotti are unbelievable! Can’t wait to work my way through your entire menu without destroying my grain free diet. THANKYOU for being here!

Not only does Blooming Lotus provide a wide range of options for those with food allergies and insensitivities but they do it with products that taste amazing and are reasonably priced considering the alternative ingredients. I have had nothing but great experiences with not only the food but also the workers who are so well informed and courteous. So very excited to have this bakery in Milwaukee!

I love baked goods and have had vegan treats from all over the country, and I especially love Blooming Lotus. This is not the place to go for a super sweet, over-the-top dessert with tons of frosting piled on top. The baked goods here taste wholesome and healthy– they’re not overly sweet and they’re super filling and satisfying. The cashew bars are one of my favorite desserts, ever. I wish the bakery were open longer on Saturdays and Sundays because I worry about weekday workers finding time to come in. I want everyone to have the chance to discover this place!

What an AWESOME place! I am giving Blooming Lotus 5 stars because they keep the cost low for foods that other places would triple in price. As a Celiac, this is significant — THANKYOU. My favorite is the cashew bar — but I usually get one of 10 things(not exaggerating) each visit, and then I freeze them for when I’m ready for a treat. I also like that although the offerings are not as sweet as treats usually are, that they are less sweet to make them realistically better for you. As a runner I appreciate that and come back because of that. I would like it if the foods were less nut-heavy — or they had more options that possibly did include four(gf buckwheat or oat flour). If you enjoy this bakery and travel up eastern Wisconsin, Happy Bellies Bakery in Appleton, WI is a gf/vegan bakery that is more sweet(traditional treats) both are equally awesome for different reasons.

Best gluten free bakery in Milwaukee!!! What’s even better is that it is not just gluten free, but grain free as well as soy and dairy free also. Even our gluten eating friends love the muffins and cupcakes! We luckily discovered this little hidden gem from a family friend who ordered the mini chocolate cupcakes for us for our wedding shower in July. Due to my food sensitivities, I need to eat gluten, soy and dairy free and I had not found a place that could meet these requirements… We found one! Yippee! After our wedding shower, we went in to try the other treats and met Lars(one of the owners). He was very friendly and helped us to decide which of the many samples to try, as well as sent us home with some samples and tea. Our wedding was September 4th, so we thought we would ask Susan(one of the owners) if they by chance would make us our Wedding cake. Our only other option was to pay hundreds of dollars to have one shipped from NYC. Susan worked closely with us(long distance even, because we were living in San Diego, CA at that time) to make us a delicious chocolate cake, carrot cake and also a banana peanut butter cake. She even decorated them beautifully! Susan was wonderful to work with and our cakes turned out beautiful and delicious!!! I hope that everyone will stop in and try a few samples, you’ll be so happy you did!

Came to Blooming Lotus to see what this bakery had to offer because of the high star Unilocal rating. Before even seeing the reviews, I didn’t realize it was a vegan health nut bakery until after I bought some stuff. This would explain the high prices and mediocre taste. Since I am not vegan, lactose intolerant, gluten sensitive, or a health nut; this bakery is not for me or anyone that likes delicious baked goods. I like my bakery to have great texture, moistness, and flavor; even though this may be because of the flour, butter, and sugar(which is delicious in moderation). The Snowflake Cupcake was $ 4 a cupcake which could have been mistaken for the mini at $ 2 because of it’s size. The taste was ok, but not comparable to a standard cupcake made with sinfully delicious ingredients. The Apricot Scone was decent. Moist and almost could have fooled me into thinking it was made with flour. Overall, the the prices are high for someone looking for standard baked goods and the flavors are lacking. The ingredients must cost more, but it’s too bad that people that need these vegan or allergy friendly products need to pay higher prices to enjoy a special treat.

Awesome, fresh baked muffins — love the cashew indulgence bar for a treat, and really enjoy the mini toffee top cupcakes. The scones are ok, would like more chunks of fruit/flavor inside… something maybe putting a little jam on at home can fix. So happy to have a great GF, Dairy free bakery in the neighborhood ! Support local business and visit the nice staff at blooming lotus !!

I was surprise when the search for gluten free cake brought us to not-that hipster sammich place of yore… Nevertheless, we’d hit the mark on our mission to find said GF bday cakes. Except, we really didn’t. Call me cray-cray, but I think it is wise for bakeries to offer savory options. We weren’t feeling the selection so we just got coffees and 2 obligatory mini-cupcakes to go. They were fine… if pastries made from nuts and fruits are your thing. I think they’re doing a fine job here, maybe even better than fine. I just don’t know that the location will bear them out. I mean, they’re across the street from Whole Foods! I hope they do make it, because bakeries. Also, because I know there is a market for this, if they can let the market really know what’s up(and also, again, be more adventurous in their offerings).

I have been waiting a long time for a gluten-free, dairy free bakery. This place is better than my favorite GF bakery in Manhattan… and that’s hard to beat. The fact that they do not use crap for ingredients makes it even more impressive. I thought I may never eat a scone again, but they have them here and they are so good! The place is very clean and the staff are very friendly. There are some tables but I have always been on the go. Everything I’ve tried has been amazingly delicious. Plus, they serve Valentine coffee which is always a great compliment to any bakery. Check out the FAQ on their website and the owner’s story.

It’s great to have a bakery option for those of us who prefer to eat grain-free. I’ve tried several of the muffins and scones and all have been excellent. The chocolate coconut truffles are excellent as well. Staff are all friendly and helpful. They also brew good coffee and offer dairy– and processed sugar-free sweetener options. I’m looking forward to more visits to try the cupcakes.

Everything in the bakery is absolutely delicious. I try to eat gluten/grain/processed sugar free foods just to be healthier. The food here not just better for you, it tastes amazing. Not an acquired taste kind of thing like some gluten free foods — this stuff actually tastes better than the typical bakery full of bleached white flour, trans fats, oil, processed sugar foods. My favorites — Almond Cookies, Cashew Cookies, the new Apricot Black Fig Scones and the chocolate cupcakes with the raspberry on top. What could feel better than enjoying a delicious desert knowing it is low in carbs, high in protein, organic, contains high quality ingredients and is good for you

The bakery is lovely, the presentation is fantastic and the service was good outside of the fact that my vegan daughter asked if there was honey in the bakery and he said only some items? At the same time he said it was all vegan? The quality of the bakery is meh. Tried the Chocolate truffle, cashew cookie and cornbread blueberry muffin. The chocolate truffle had so much raw coconut that is all I could taste. The cashew cookie was just okay. The cornbread blueberry muffin was awful and I threw it out. So wanted to love this bakery and drove across town to try it. So disappointed. The vegan bakery recipes I make from the internet are far superior to anything I tried and I am not a baker.

I adore this place. As a celiac, it’s amazing to be able to walk into a bakery of all places and be able to eat anything I want! More than that, to know that it’s healthy & allergen-friendly– not just gluten-free but grain and dairy free as well. Plus, everything I’ve tried has been delicious– the fig & pistachio biscotti is my favorite, the chocolate brownie cupcakes are to die for and the cashew butter cookies are incredible. I’ll be back again and again!

My partner and I had been looking for a bakery since we moved to Milwaukee. Luckily at work I had the opportunity to meet the bakery owner, Lars, who asked if I would come and try out his offerings. Since I’m trying to live a better life and be great, I decided trying a grain free, egg free, processed sugar free, dairy free bakery elf be worth a try. My logic was, if it tasted good enough for then to decide to open a bakery, it had to be at least palatable. Glad to say it’s more than palatable. I’ve been back twice since my first visit and everything I’ve tried thus far has not only been a great«version» of a chocolate brownie but simply great in itself. You know, there are brownies and then there are good brownies… well these are def some good brownies. Everything is super moist, baked fresh and has great flavor. As you can imagine, I really like the chocolate brownie. I also like the apple streusel muffin and the cashew truffle. Oh and the honey cashew cookie and oatmeal cookies are delish. Try anything! You’ll be wowed. Oh and the staff is pleasant and the prices are totally reasonable. And a personal perk, its in my hood!

What a nice addition to the east side. We only stopped based on the gluten free options. We had an apple streusel muffin(everyones fav), a blueberry muffin, a chocolate brownie muffin and some cashew butter cookies. All were delish, very moist and flavorful. None were overly sweet. My husband is the only one who has to eat GF, but my 9 yr old and I also enjoyed everything. They also had a large freezer with goodies ready to take home. We will be back.

Very excited that a wheat-free, dairy-free, and mostly vegan bakery has opened up so close to my home! Conveniently located in Love Handle’s old location, kitty-corner to Whole Foods, Blooming Lotus offers scones, muffins, energy cookies, and even truffles for those of us out there who have dietary restrictions or are health conscious. Additionally, they serve coffee(hot/iced), tea(hot/iced), and fresh-squeezed lemonade(love). I tried one of their truffles, and it was delicious. The energy cookie I tried was good as well — although I tend to like mine sweeter. :) I took home the sweet potato and carrot muffins, so I’ll have to fill you all in on those once I’ve tried one. I’m looking forward to see how this business will grow, since it’s only been open for two weeks. But I have to say, I am really impressed with how put-together Blooming Lotus seems even though it’s a brand new operation. I’m hoping that over time BL will start offering wheat-free/grain-free savory things, like quiche(hint hint!).

This bakery is great! I tried the brownie cupcakes, muffins, cookies and«no corn» muffins, everything is delicious. This cute little place is a much-needed healthy place for gluten-free treats in Milwaukee. If you haven’t tried it yet — get there soon!
