The remodel and décor of this place is very on point, nice art, beautiful wood features and long bar. The bathrooms actually are some of the best in the city, well decorated, gorgeous sink, and I love when bathrooms have free feminine products, so thoughtful. They also have lotion and mints in the bathroom. The place is new and it is evident that they do not have everything ironed out. The sign outside said happy hour 3 – 6 so we went and sat at the bar, the bar tender got us drinks and then after we were drinking them he was like, «oh actually I just talked to the manager and we don’t have happy hour on weekends and actually we are not even open.» I was like«waaaaaaa, well can we stay or no?» He said we could but we could not order food for an hour. Not sure the food was worth the wait. We had four dishes. The steam beef buns were the best, and the pigs ears nachos were pretty good too. Being cuisines from around the world, one would think they would be packed with unique flavors, but the dishes were not. Flavors were mild and and a bit ordinary. The part I did not like is the portions. I mean I get it is small plates, but come on. For 50 bucks and 4 plates(shared) I should be at least kinda full. I made the joke after dinner that we should stop at dog haus on the way home. Also they only had one cider on the menu and it was a shitty one, so that bummed me out too. It is nice to have a trendy place like this on Brady, I just wished it stacked up to other small plate style restaurants in the city. If you do check it out go for lunch, cheaper.

I had dinner at Easy Tyger Friday night with two others. It wasn’t busy, but business was steady when we arrived. I like the design an color scheme. It gave a slightly upscale feel, but I don’t think it came across as «stuffy.» When we sat, we were warmly greeted soon after by our server Gabby. The noise level was fairly low, so we were able to talk and hear each other without elevating our voices. The food menu lists lunch on one side and dinner on the other. The theme is small plates, some might call the selections«fusion» or «continental,» and dinner items range from $ 5 to $ 15. The cocktail lists offered a handful of items ranging from $ 10 to $ 14, but wine and beer is also available. At first glance, we thought the drink list was priced a bit on the high side. One of my dining mates ate Vegan. While some items on the menu can be altered for vegetarians, vegans won’t find much to work with. The chef was able to make the Farro Bibimbap as vegan for her, pretty much by just leaving out the egg. We all had a taste and that dish was very good. The flavor was outstanding and the textures were right on. My friend and I shared the Pig Ear Nachos, Chicken Liver and Chorizo, Pork Belly and Clams, and the Octopus. The Pig Ear Nachos($ 5) are made with crispy strips of pig ear and topped with pickled chili pepper, lime crema, cilantro and cotija cheese. I enjoyed the flavors from the start. My friend didn’t like it much at first but the dish grew on her, and she said it was probably her favorite of the four we shared. I’m not a fan of liver in any form, but I was willing to try the Chicken Liver and Chorizo($ 11). Chunks of chicken liver and diced chorizo are served with potatoes and garnished with watercress, grape, and a port wine gastrique. Guess what? I still don’t like liver! However, my friend enjoyed it more than I did. I tried to focus on the other ingredients on the plate. The Octopus($ 14) is seared and prepared Mediterranean style with eggplant, tomato, capers, fennel, marcona almonds, watercress, all over a piquillo pepper purée and finished with sherry vinegar. We enjoyed the dish, but I think $ 14 is too much for what was on the plate, I would order it again at $ 10 or $ 11, at most. The Port Belly and Clams($ 13) features port belly confit, littleneck clams, chickpeas and harissa, The broth was delicious and the clams were cooked perfectly. The pork belly was crispy on the bottom layer and was good, but lacked the salty and savory flavors I expect in pork belly. Surprisingly, I thought the best tasting dish was the Farro Bibimbap. While the other dishes were good, none of them packed a «wow!» factor. However, based on this visit, I think the kitchen is capable of it. The drinks were fine, but not memorable. What was memorable was the outstanding service we received from Gabby! She was very friendly and accommodating by checking on vegan options, granting our request to take our picture, and just her overall attentiveness and positive attitude. If she didn’t know about an item, she went to get more details on it. Thank you, Gabby! Overall, I like what Easy Tyger is doing. They’e only been open a few weeks, so I expect there will be some tweaking done. Considering how new they are, I was impressed with my visit, and I certainly plan to dine there again some time.

TL;DR: At the end of this meal, my dinner date said: «Well, that was a little bit like life. Kind of disappointing.» And unfortunately, that’s probably the best way to sum up this dining experience. Kind of disappointing. The concept of this restaurant is intriguing(small international plates), but in execution it stumbles. Maybe because the restaurant theme is a tad directionless, but nothing we ordered(4 plates + dessert) stood out to us as being awesome, other than the steamed buns(the only thing I would order again). The pork tonkatsu, gravlax, piri piri chicken wings, and chocolate tarte were all just okay, but didn’t hit the level of great so many other small plate places in Milwaukee manage to. For what it was, I thought the prices were a bit high. Ambience and service can definitely elevate just-okay food, but at Easy Tyger, «just okay» was pretty much consistent across the board. The interior felt weirdly sterile in its attempts to be hip and minimalist and fresh, so that it ended up feeling directionless and impersonal, not like actual thought was put into its design to convey a mood/feeling to customers. Our servers were friendly and pleasant, but I definitely got the sense they weren’t quite sure what they were doing(couldn’t pronounce things on the menu, hesitantly brought us food they weren’t sure we’d ordered, etc.). Overall, I didn’t have a bad meal at Easy Tyger, but I didn’t have a good one either. To be a bit more generous, though, it’s still relatively new and might yet be finding its sea legs.

The food was good. The pig ear nachos were by far the highlight. The service is what wrecked it. The server was very uneducated on the menu and drink selection. Also, she forgot to order a plate and didn’t seem to care much.

Easy Tyger is a great addition to Brady St. and I really enjoyed a lot of stuff here. Our server started out by explaining their concept and going over highlights of the menu. Dan and I shared the pig ear nachos and steamed buns. They were both really good, especially the buns. I would like to eat them all day long. He also enjoyed the jerk pork dish but was expecting more heat. I tried a little of it and thought the apple slaw and rice were fantastic. Really well balanced flavors. I got the farro bibimbap and really loved that, too. All of the ingredients had great flavor — separately or together. Dan loved the Pork Tonkatsu ramen — the broth was so, so good. The only thing is that they give you one of those ramen spoons but the bowl is kind of flat — it’s basically impossible to get the rest of the broth onto the spoon. Hard to be a member of the clean plate club that way. For dessert I tried a slice of the lemon tart and it was perfect. Boldly sour and boldly sweet at the same time. I want to come back for lunch to try that Banh Mi, too.

Stopped in on a Thursday night and were seated right away. This place did a great job with the remodel, exposing the brick and they created a bar area that was very inviting and perfect for grabbing a drink and a small bite to eat with friends. Service was very attentive and recommendations were very helpful. We ordered pig ear nachos which were so tasty, could have devoured the plate myself! Then duck pastrami which had great flavor, and Jerk Pork which came with coconut rice and curry plaintains that accompanied the pork very well. Scallops were cooked perfect, the sauce was a tad spicy for me but my boyfriend highly enjoyed it. Steamed buns, by far our favorite item, melt in your mouth good with pickles and spicy mayo! Pork belly and clams, the clams and broth were outstanding but the pork belly was a tad salty to me. Finally we finished things off with the chocolate tart and salted caramel purple door ice cream, chocolate tart was oh so good, rich but not over powering, paired perfectly with the ice cream. Can’t wait to go back, we had such a great time and fantastic experience!

Great ambiance, welcoming and attentive staff. If you’re looking for a lunch menu that is creative and supports local vendors, I think you will be pleased. Comfortable and inviting décor. I recommend you try the pig ear nachos… delicious! Tad bit salty but otherwise the blend of flavors is delectable. Generous sandwich portions. Will be back to sample their dinner menu soon!

I returned and Chef Evan recognized me. He gave me a sneak-peak/taste of the happy hour menu he’s working on and it was amazing. My friend, who isn’t on Unilocal, got the burger(lunch menu only) and says it is delicious too.

My husband and I went for brunch at Easy Tyger on the first day of their doing brunch. There’s always a great deal of risk to be had in this sort of position, but we came away from the experience with extremely positive impressions. He got the Brioche French Toast and I got the Frittata. We shared a House-made Breakfast Sausage plate. Everything was very good, but what really stood out, in our opinions, was the french toast. I had to encourage him to get it because he doesn’t like pear and wasn’t sure about how the pear would go with the toast. I would’ve gotten it, but I don’t generally like french toast as a rule. In the end, we ended up practically fighting over it. The bread was perfectly done, the bourbon pear, in addition to its unique flavor, added an interesting texture to each bite. The crème fraîche was nothing short of perfect and brought the entire thing together in magnificent harmony. You don’t even need to add syrup to it, but syrup was provided. Having been so fixated on the french toast, it’s somewhat more difficult to review the other dishes. I will say that everything was well-executed and tasty, but I definitely know what I’ll be getting time and time again when we go to Easy Tyger for brunch. So, just as I’m not normally a french toast person, I’m even less of a dessert person, especially after brunch. However, having experienced the french toast, I had high hopes for their other bakery-like items, which I verified are all made in-house. My husband is a huge aficionado of all things lemon and has a very high standard for such things. He also doesn’t typically like lemon tart, but we ordered Easy Tyger’s lemon tart with relish. We were not disappointed. The lemon was tangy, not too sweet, very flavorful and reminiscent of a bowl of fresh lemons. Somehow, even with the bold flavors of the lemon filling, the crust asserted its own milk flavor. It was magnificent. Overall, Easy Tyger is an extremely welcome addition to Milwaukee. I consider myself very fortunate that it’s appeared in my immediate neighborhood. We’ll definitely be back again and again for lunches, dinners and brunches in the future.

If it weren’t for the food this would be a really great place… Beautiful atmosphere. Love the space, the brick, the whole vibe. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. The suppli were average — and served lukewarm. The piri piri chicken wings had a tasty sauce but the skin was so flabby and chewy, the chicken was not edible. We left the chicken mostly uneaten which did not go unnoticed by anyone, but not one person asked if there was an issue. I actually had to stop the server from leaving our table to ask if the dish was supposed to be served with flabby, chewy skin; she replied«yes, and you need to ask if you want them crispy,» and then she walked away. Average to subpar«by the glass» wine list and simply weird cocktails, the descriptions of which don’t make them sound appealing at all. However the beer list was really interesting and robust with many different offerings. Servers were kind for the most part but inattentive; simple things took too long. What could have been a really nice touch was the ‘hot wet towel’ service(offered because we had the chicken wings), but the towels were cold and not even the slightest bit damp, which was really quite curious. These folks tried really hard but we just did not have a good experience.

Opening night on New Year’s Eve? Easy Tyger pulled it off with style and grace. I highly recommend a visit once the full menu is in place. The limited menu, not unusual at openings, featured five«Small Plates» each from a different nation. The variety defined their goal of featuring a full menu from around the world! We tried three of the opening night features including the«Pig Ear Nachos»($ 5 Mexican). A refreshingly lightly battered, julienned and crispy fried flavorful dish with tasty hints of Pork Skins and a light«Bacon» flavor. Not fatty, served on a bed of pickled chili, lime crema, radish cilantro, and cotija cheese. Our second dish was a recommendation described by our server, Revell, was the«Pork Belly and Clams».($ 12 Mediterranean), An ample quantity of delicious littleneck clams and a decently portioned Confit pork(pork bell), served with a chickpea, and harissa(a Tunisian condiment traditionally made with chili peppers, garlic, cumin, and other seasonings, popular in the meditrainian area as well). Easy Tyger’s variation really made this dish. The tender clams paired well with the Pork Belly. A tasty and aromatic dish that was surprisingly full flavored, highly recommended. Feeling full, we opted to split just one more dish. Talking with one of the cooks who greeted us during our diner, Heather, recommended the«Steamed Buns»($ 8 China). Two generous steamed bread folded like a «taco», daikon, and filled with tender, juicy, slow roasted beef brisket, char siu(Cantonese roasted meat), oi-sobagi(cucumber kimchi), daikon(Chinese radish), and spicy mayo. Whoa! That’s a lot of flavor combinations. Which made for a perfect filling with the normally light, supple flavor and doughy steamed bun. The meat was cooked to perfection, tender with a «not too spicy» savory sauce enhanced by the«Condiments» described previously. Not a big fan of «Steamed Buns» I would enjoyed a plate with out the them. There’s a full bar, three dining areas, a bright, wide open space with a Milwaukee Crème City Brick lining the wall behind the long bar area. A wine cellar to rival any in the neighborhood. The apprentice Sommelier was knowledgeable and confidently recommended wine to accompany each dish. Although, we ended up having a few micro brews and the Manhattan of the week. If you visited the previous occupant, Mai Thai, you’ll be amazed at the changes and well planned renovation from floor to ceiling, from front to back!

We had the pleasure of dinning at Easy Tyger on their opening night. Though they were not taking reservations, Todd had a table waiting for us. Liz took care of us during dinner and was fabulous. We ordered almost everything on the dinner menu and the dessert menu. The stars of the night for our group were Suppli, Chicken Liver and Chorizo, Steamed buns and Farro Bibimbap. Their Wine list is pretty ok and we were satisfied with our 3 bottles of Vino.
