Summary: YES for brunch, top 5 on my mke brunch places, mostly due to their fabulous PIE! Loved sitting outside, parking on the street, service takes a bit longer don’t come here if you’re in a rush. Came here around noon with two of my other girlfriends, got seated outside right away. If we were a bigger party than 4 it would’ve taken awhile, they were busy! Found parking right in front on the street so no problems there. Service took a bit didn’t get food until 30 min later and only ordered 2 dishes. Portions are HUGE so share share share. –pulled pork fries: loved the textures crispy bacon, potatoes, with creamy sauce and Sunnyside up egg. Wasn’t expecting the sauce to be sweet BBQ but it was a nice surprise! –burrito: not bad, chorizo wasn’t that spicy, good to have wouldn’t have it again though, nothing special for me — mocha pie: YUMMY! Great ratio of mocha to crème, great homemade crust as well. Excellent flavors, not too sweet like most pies tend to be. Selling point to me is the pies I’d come back just to try more of their pie flavors!

So great!!! I had the Spanish Omelette with a side of hash browns. The Rosemary & garlic infused Bloody Mary was amazing!

Wonderful, relaxed breakfast in the back garden. I had the traditional Benedict with hash brown covered with smoked pulled pork. Very good attentive service especially on a busy Sunday brunch time. Wish I lived here so I could return often.

I dined for brunch. Everything was delightful. Staff was polite. They were able to customize the breakfast casserole due to my phobia of non– scrambled eggs. I got pie to go and it was fabulous. My fiancé immediately gobbled all of my leftovers when I got home. Anytime I I have to travel my mind wonders about the possibility of making a detour. The neighborhood seemed really fun too!

Really enjoyed the food here and the service was spot on. I realized I only had a small window to get to a meeting and thought about getting my food to go but they got me fed and out the door in less than 25 minutes. Food tasted fresh and would definitely recommend this great café.

Honeypie is a cute café in Bayview. My mom and I stopped in for some snacks before an event. We split a Caesar salad and cheese plate. The Caesar salad was good and I loved the kale chips(first time having them). The cheese platter came with sourdough bread and they gave us an extra warm bread. We asked that they leave off the blue cheese but the cheddar and Brie were amazing — way better than grocery store cheese. My mom had the Black Bottom Banana pie and I had Milwaukee Mud. Both were amazing as always! We loved the freshly made whip cream. Service was good but the place was bustling :)

«First Pancake Effect» — Well what can I say, Honeypie is located in the center of the happenings in Bayview. By virtue of its location, diners cover a broad spectrum of people type. Young families with children, older folks, and plenty of middle aged couples and groups — falling under both categories, of the hipster locals as well as those from maybe a few miles to far away. Like most people here, the menu is diverse and has a lot to offer. My family walked in on a Saturday afternoon a few minutes before 3, and eager to try the main menu(weekend brunch available until 3PM), the hostess and waitress patiently granted our request to see the menu a few minutes early and place our drink orders right away. The feature Bloody Mary was jalapeño flavored — complete with usual fixins as well as a piece of meat and cheese. Interesting soda flavors and a large selection of bottled beers rounded out their drink menu. Overall the people were pleasant and the food was tasty. The Lambwich was very flavorful and was served on a grilled but soft rosemary focaccia bread. The only issue was that the meat was a bit on the dry side. The Wisconsin beef sandwich that my dad ordered had plenty of horseradish sauce, but again was a bit dry. Grandma’s pasty(which featured a menagerie of veggies and spices that day), my brother’s bacon mac ‘n cheese, and my sister’s chicken biscuit pie all hit the spot — the pastry and bakery aspect of Honeypie was really able to shine through with these dishes. My mom enjoyed her banh mi sandwich, but after our experience, a few of us came to the conclusion that we had experienced what we deemed the«first pancake effect.» So often that first pancake on the griddle doesn’t come out perfect… it usually takes a round or two for things to heat up to perfection, and we thought that this might have been the case here. The less-than-juicy meat and not piping hot delivery were not perfect but could perhaps have been better had we not rushed right in for 3PM. Ordering a little later may have saved that last star for this review. But the thick and well-done fries, great company, and funny waitress made our time at Honeypie pretty great.

Wonderful food great service, but the clientele this restaurant draws is the exact opposite! We went in as a group of five, one of the five being a toddler. The tables next to us continued to make rude comments through our entire meal! It was awful I have never brought my son some where and been so disrespected. This seems like a great restaurant to bring kids but please think again! As I said though great food the scallops and Eggs Benedict was awesome. The scallops were just right. The ‘Sconie Mimosa was great even though they ran out of the cranberry wine, the cranberry juice substitute worked great. I would definitely go back again when we have a sitter, the close mindedness of the neighboring tables kind of ruin my experience as a diner.

Yet another Bayview comfort food gem! Honey Pie is a really great spot, I love showing it to my out of town guests because it’s always a hit! I’ve tried several things on their menu and I’m never disappointed. A few of my stand out options are their soft pretzels, curry chicken salad, and the Cuban. All the pies are fantastic, but my absolute favorite was a salted caramel pie with a toffee and pretzel crust Keep in mind the the portions are HUGE and you’ll want to make it to desserts so I’d recommend splitting an entrée.

Cozy restaurant with some delicious comfort foods. Not a place I think of often enough, but always pleased with the decision to stop when I do. Definitely try the cupcakes if you have any sort of sweet tooth. Last time I visited, my boyfriend and I ordered two cupcakes to go. Since it was close to closing time, our waitress threw in an extra cupcake, which we definitely enjoyed. It was a nice treat to cap off an already indulgent meal. I should also mention that the Mac and cheese and pork fries are both AWESOME. If you come in, Check any sort of ideas of a diet at the door for the night and enjoy.

Boy oh boy oh boy. Ultimate comfort food. Order the pork fries. Don’t expect to do anything productive for the rest of the day. They’re like a mix of poutine and nachos, and one order could feed a family of four. I haven’t ever ordered pie here(how did I manage this???), but I have gotten the chicken biscuit pie. If that is any indication of Honeypie’s baking skillz, I should go and order a full apple pie right now. The best deal here is the pasty. $ 9 and it comes with sides. Delicious, and it reminds me of up nort’. I wasn’t a huge fan of the bloodies. Sometimes the service can be hit or miss. Account for a potential wait for a table.

Awesome! We met our niece here for a late breakfast on a Thursday morning, we did not wait at all. Everything looked amazing, but I knew I wanted those«pork fries». Holy god were those fantastic. I also tried the corn muffin which was a little dense, but it was still delicious. My niece was so full from her chili that she ended up taking her sandwich home. I’d definitely eat here again when I’m back in Milwaukee.

PORRRRKKKFRIESSSSSS!!! This place seriously rocks. I really haven’t had anything like it. I’ve visited Honeypie four times now, and every time, it impresses. The location could be better. Parking is limited, but is available on the street in front of the restaurant, and on the side streets. Right when you walk in the warm atmosphere is as inviting as grandma’s house on Christmas Eve. Drink list is superb for a Café. I would consider Honeypie to be Midwestern cuisine. Simple, yet amazing, and perfect for guilty pleasures in life. Pork Fries– Holy Hey Zeus, the pork fries hit the spot. Every time. Couple warning tips. #1. It is quite hot. Jalepeños and scallions top the fries. Underneath lies cheese and awesomely seasoned potato fries. #2. Don’t be tricked into getting this as an appetizer for oneself. It is a meal in its entirety. But at $ 11, you can’t go wrong. Just make sure you have some water. The Burger– This thing is massive. Never had anything like it. They even put an egg on it. With bacon. With caramalized onions. Just don’t make the mistake of ordering it with the pork fries for yourself. You won’t finish both. Chicken Biscuit Pie — Solid, but I wouldn’t get it again. Heats up well in the microwave. I would probably consider this to be one of the more boring choices of the menu, but hey, it taste good! Dessert Pie– Banana cream pie and cherry pie are excellent. If you are in the area and don’t really feel like ice cream or gelato from Cream City Swirl next door, walk to the back of Honeypie and order a pie to go. You won’t be disappointed. Price is around 4 – 7 bucks for a slice. Not bad. Overall, this place rocks. One of my new favorite places to eat in the Milwaukee area.

I really like the pork on the starters menu. It was my favorite dish of the night. I ordered duck sandwich and it was good, not wow. The reason I gave 4 stars because the waiter forgot my drink and brought me a wrong one. I ordered a beer which was from California. I saw it in the draft section, but when I got it was a bottle. I found out that there were in a bottle section and draft section, but they ate different types. Not sure whose fault, but she forgot my drink when everyone on my table got drinks.

We came here for dinner from a recommendation by some locals, but were a little disappointed. We ordered the pretzels with cheese as an appetizer. They were pretty good, but nothing to write home about. I was excited for my Mac and cheese but it tasted like whipped mashed potatoes with a ton of cream and not enough cheese. Not very flavorful. I hope you do not get Adam as a server because he told us we had too much alcohol and he couldn’t serve us, even though we were in no way drunk or acting rambunctious. He claimed his establishment was«a restaurant and not a bar»… Ok. All in all, this place may have been just an OK place out in the burbs, but after refusing to serve customers based on some mistaken assumption that they are too intoxicated, it put a bit of a damper on the night. I understand a waiter’s refusal to serve customers if they are out of control, but a date night of my boyfriend and I was in no way some wild party he was making it out to be. Won’t be going back, and Adam needs to loosen up a lot.

Ok, so if you’ve read a few of my reviews, you may notice a theme of me NOT liking places that have animal heads on the walls. I don’t think they add anything to the dining experience, and I find them creepy as hell. For some reason my mom took me to a dentist as a small child that had enormous animal heads on the walls. Seriously. Like giant water buffalo heads. I was terrified. But, as is my wont, I digress. I do have a point in this ramble. I avoided going to Honeypie, despite the rave reviews, because they had… you guessed it… animal heads. Just… no. Fast forward a couple of years, we drove around looking for dinner after a hot, tiring day, I was just like fine, whatever, it’s close by, I’ll deal with it. I steeled myself for the dead, steely eyes staring into mine any time I raised my gaze from my plate… but lo and behold, the heads were gone!!! What followed was a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. It was a bit warm inside on a hot evening, but fairly comfortable. The beer was not super cold, but by comparison with the warm room, it was perfect. Honeypie has a relaxed, Bayview-hipster vibe; the walls are old-school paneling, which seems to be prevalent in homes and businesses alike in Bayview. We sat at the bar(the bar stools have backs!), which appears to be made from old shuffleboard game wood coated in thick, high gloss resin. Very nice decorative touches throughout. There’s a pretty nice bottled/canned beer selection; the six taps are mostly Ale Asylum. The food was slow to arrive, but we were enjoying the ambiance and conversation so it wasn’t a huge issue. When the plates arrived they were quite hot, as though maybe they’d been sitting under the lights for awhile. They were moderately busy. Omg!!! Duck Cubano. DUCK. CUBANO. Don’t question it, just get it. You can thank me later. OMG. It’s the best one I’ve ever had anywhere, and I get this sandwich a lot. Even the sweet ‘n sour cucumber slices with skin on, the house made pickles, were incredibly delicious. Of course we had pie. I had the pecan, and it was fine. The pecans on top are whole and huge, which made it hard to take a balanced bite of pie. It was either all nut, or all not. We could barely move after leaving. I can’t wait to go back. No heads, I win!

Finally made it to this place just to try the pork fries. We ordered pork fries, pork biscuit and the casserole. I am so happy I ordered the pork biscuit for my son which I wouldn’t have ordered if not for him. That was super delish. Pork fries was quite a big portion but pretty good. My friend said the casserole was pretty good too.

There’s plenty of side street parking, don’t let the main road scare you away. In nice weather the patio in back is open which allows for more seating and no wait time. They open at 9 on Saturday for brunch! The food was great, only bad thing I have to say about it is the flavor. I’m not saying I didn’t like the flavor in general, I’m just saying with some more spice it would give the food that extra kick it’s lacking. Up the spice game and this place would be out of this world good :) Freshness 10:10. Portion 10:10 Unique food options 7:10 Bloody Mary 10:10 Service 7:10(Not super friendly, but she didn’t mess up any orders in our party of 6) I got the smores cupcake, it was dry and maybe a few days old. The frosting was just alright, I think I would go with a pie option next time. My parents got the mocha pie and said it was good . They offer lots of vegan options as well !

Honeypie does get a touch crowded at prime brunch time, especially if you have a larger group with you, but we had no trouble sidling up to the bar and sitting right down. The service, at least at the bar, was very quick, so brunchin’ at the bar might be the smartest decision you’ll make all day. Plus you’ll have easy access to a bloody mary which comes with a wee little Rhinelander shortie. The food was definitely delicious and plentiful. I went with the breakfast pork fries which are almost too ridiculous to be real, but real they are and they were quite delicious. My companion went with a special veg. hash that looked pretty good and he joined the clean plate club, so I’ll assume it was. We didn’t try any of the pies, but I am intrigued by the ability to send them to friends via piegram. Hell, maybe I’ll piegram myself from a secret admirer and impress my coworkers. PS — they also had Hopslam for $ 5 on draft!
