North Shore Library

I was RIGHT THERE! but couldn’t find the North Shore Library. First time visit to pick up books ordered online. I Googled it and everything… and was so sure it would be no problem. I drove right past it a few times (now that I see the photo of the building on Unilocal) – thought it was a bank building. I either need my glasses checked or the North Shore Library could use some better SIGNAGE. I’ll try again tomorrow. Can’t wait to have the return date put on with a cute little rubber stamp!

This is my local library. We like to check out books often. The branch is rather small, but it’s not usually busy, which is nice. Their selection is just OK. They don’t have self check out, which is somewhat inconvenient.
I’ve had good experiences with the librarian. However, the rest of the staff is another story. It seems like they hire a lot of students, some of which don’t show much interest in their jobs. Whenever I ask for help, it seems I’m countered with a ‘we don’t do that’ type of attitude.
I’ve paid fines and they weren’t removed from my account. So I had to haggle with them about it. The latest… we returned a CD and they never checked it in.
I definitely prefer the WFB or Shorewood branches, but unfortunately they are closed on Sundays (the day we usually go).

This is the most conveniently located library branch for me so I visit often. It’s a decent size with easy, plentiful parking. The staff are always nice and ready to help. I also love that they still use stamps to remind me when my book is due — my librarian friends tell me this is not the case at most places!
I do most of my reserving through the library website and don’t often browse, so I can’t speak to the selection at this library. It never matters for me though because I can reserve anything in the federated system and have it ready and waiting at this branch! Our Milwaukee library system is AMAZING and we’re really lucky to have it.

This is a fine library. One of the quieter locationsin the system, always good for relaxing and spending a couple hours.
