I went to Taco De Bajo today and to my surprise they were having $ 1 tacos! Apparently every Tuesday is $ 1 taco day and my 2 friends and I were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. I ordered one chicken and one pork taco and both were delicious. The flavors were a little unexpected for Mexican cuisine, but I found it a refreshing change. The chips and salsa were an interesting twist as well, a bit sweeter than usual. I’m sad to say that I didn’t partake in the margaritas, but I’ll definitely be back for more $ 1 Taco Tuesdays! I’d highly recommend trying the place out on a Tuesday.

I didn’t even want to give this one star. I happened to see their sidewalk sign while driving by and decided to give it a shot. For what you will pay and what you will eat… NOTWORTHIT. I ordered 2 tacos to go(comes with rice & beans) and was absolutely turned off by the taste. The rice was NOT authentic at all and seriously lacking in flavor. The beef taco, chilly and flavorless. Their pork taco was okay(the best part of the whole meal). Their guacamole had a dull dark green tint(sitting out too long most likely). The black beans… I felt that I shouldn’t take my chances with it, very runny. If I wasn’t so hungry and didn’t have to work, I would have went back and asked for a refund. I’ve never asked for a refund on food before, and I’m not picky but for $ 10 I could have went somewhere else. Margarita Paradise is better by leaps and bounds and it’s only a few blocks away. I wouldn’t even give it a second try(from the cost alone). AVOIDAVOIDAVOID!

Nothing too special… but better than the nearby Margarita Paradise… Which brings me to – Margarita Paradise and this place, Taco De Bajo – NEITHER actually offers REAL margaritas. I have to hand it to Margarita Paradise, they’ve been up front about it since their opening in The Public Market… But Taco De Bajo POSTS on their sidewalk sign that they have«Margaritas»…get inside and you find that they’re nothing more than fruit juice… LAME. Don’t advertise margaritas and get me to slither down to your basement location and disappoint me! Otherwise you’re liable to get a whiny review! Like this! The food was actually pretty good. I was surprised. Better and fresher tasting than Margarita Paradise. NOWHERE near as good as any of the southside Mexican places though… so don’t go out of your way for this place… but if you’re in the Third Ward area give it a try… you could do a lot worse.
