Best sushi I’ve ever had! I highly recommend the Shelly roll! Lee customized our rolls to our liking, which I loved.

Best sushi I’ve had in some time. And I’ve had quite a bit. Highly recommend this restaurant to any American style sushi lovers and the like. Best roll IMO: Shelly Owner is an extraordinary chef. Willing to substitute anything in any menu item. When an owner is this passionate about his restaurant you need to expect the food to be good.

The food was pretty good and the service was good but they lost two customers based on principle. When you have an establishment that is hungry for money, I prefer to choose the one who is willing to satisfy customers. My friend asked for help from staff because she is a new sushi eater. With their help, she ordered a dish that cost about $ 8 and didn’t like the seaweed wrap. She couldn’t stomach it. We returned it and asked for that same dish in the soy wrap. Granted the restaurant didn’t make a mistake on the dish, they weren’t willing to acknowledge that they could have told her there were two forms of wraps. A little clarification to help a new sushi eater would have gone a long way and is as simple as asking, «seaweed or soy wrap?» They said we would have to pay for the dish anyway because it costs money to make it. Let’s do some basic math, here: Dish cost 8.00 but only about 2.00 to make. If they didn’t charge us for her yucky seaweed dish, they lose 2.00. But… We were still ordering the dish, just needed soy wraps. They were still going to make 8.00 for the re-do. That’s still a 6.00 profit. If she enjoyed her dish, with the soy wrap, she would order another one. Which she ended up doing. The restaurant made 16.00 anyway on the two dishes that she did like… take away the 2.00 throw away dish and would have still made a 14.00 profit for taking the loss of 2.00. Plus, my order of food and drink was about 17.00. 30.00 tab for our table(with the 2.00 product loss) plus a great tip for working with us would have come out to about 40.00 when all was said and done, plus repeat happy customers. Instead, they charged us for 3 dishes for her(the two good ones, and the throw away). Our total tab was 44 and we deducted 10% of tip because it cost us when the staff didn’t go above and beyond to inform us of the seaweed wrap vs soy. We would have covered the loss of product in the tip solely on their willingness to satisfy us… And they would have repeat customers… We eat out fairly frequently and if we had a great experience there, in a years time they could have had a minimum of 600 just from the two of us. Instead, they lost 558 and part of a reputation all over their unwillingness to work with us on an 8.00 dish that only cost them 2.00. If I can’t see business marketing logic in an establish, then why bother trying? Kim lees in Carson is supposed to be the best. Try that instead. I hear they great with customer satisfaction.

When I moved up here I really didn’t expect to have an awesome sushi joint in town. Their all you can eat deal is a few bucks more than other places but it’s worth it. The staff is really nice and the chefs are fast and talented. Don’t let the fact that you’re in the mountains scare you. It’s awesome.

My girls and I went to try Amerikan Ni Sushi something out of our normal go to spots in Reno. We were celebrating November birthday’s. I was the first to arrive, the restaurant was cute and small. When the other 3 arrived, we mentioned we were there for AYCE sushi, apparently you can only do AYCE at the bar. What fuckin restaurant only let’s you do AYCEONLYATTHEBARTHATISFULL to the point we couldn’t sit together! So we looked at the«host and hostess» and said really we can’t sit at a table? Keep in mind every single table in the restaurant was empty. They had to go ask the manager if the 4 of us could sit at a table together and order AYCE. One of the girls had asked for a side of spicy mayo. It was brought out before any of the food arrived, which was nice especially if you like the spicy mayo with your sushi. Some of the rolls came but it was only what 1 person had ordered. Now one of the other girls asked for a side of spicy mayo, our server comes back to the table to let the first girl who asked for the spicy mayo know that’s what she brought her, we let our server know that it was someone else that asked for spicy mayo too, the server proceeded to roll her eyes and walk away and come back with another spicy mayo. When the Nigiri arrived it literally had an 1 ½ in by 2 in piece of rice and a super thin piece of salmon. If I wanted a side of rice I would of ordered it! So it’s pretty clear why they have a disclaimer on the front of their menu about eating all your rice, or they’ll charge you à la cart. All in all I think my girls had a memorable time, will we ever return to Amerikan Ni Sushi probably not.

I love that we can find good sushi right here in Gardnerville at American Ni! We stopped in at 730 Saturday night… lots of people there but still got seated right away and were served quickly with our favorites, the Godzilla and Peluza rolls, and the baked mussels. We took our time, enjoyed great service and excellent food and were still done in just over an hour. The chefs always look up and smile when you walk in, and the host and servers are just the right amount of attentive, there to check on you but they don’t interrupt your enjoyment of the meal. Nice atmosphere with light music in the background and people who seemed to be happy working there. On our list of favorites!

I haven’t been back here in a long time because the food was so bad. Today I wanted sashimi but didn’t want to go to Carson city so I decided to try this place out again. Everything was good(not great), but better than before and good enough to come back. See my photos for my thoughts on the items I got.(I ordered the miso soup, 6 mussels and 9 piece sashimi).

Take out was not what I expected. After reading the reviews on here, I thought it would be safe to order what others recommended. The ceviche was by far the best dish. All other rolls were mediocre at best! Spent $ 80+ and wouldn’t go back… bummer!

I used to enjoy the food and service. The last number of times I have gone the food was not worth the price, the sushi chef was borderline rude, and couldn’t get water refill to save your life. I don’t plan on revisiting any time soon!

Why does a small town like Gardnerville/Minden have some of the best sushi spots? I’ve lived in San Diego practically on the beach and had better sushi in the small town I grew up in surrounded by cows and tractors? Is this real life? Amerikan Sushi was such a pleasant surprise! We all did AYCE and for $ 17.99 you cannot go wrong! My favorite roll of all time is The Lily Roll and my heart swelled as I read they had this in their menu!!! Great place to come with friends or even just on a date night! I cannot wait to police back in Gardnerville so this can be our regular spot!

I’ve been to many sushi places and this is one of my favorite places by far. They have delicious rolls and a lot of them are very unique! One thing I didn’t like when I was doing the all you can eat was when I asked for another order of the muscles the chef said its only 1 per customer but it doesn’t say that on their all you can eat menu. Other then that, everything was perfect!

I’ve been there quit a few times. My boyfriend and I drop anywhere from $ 70 to $ 90 every time we have gone. we just went there for lunch. 3 all you can eat and an a la carte… I had the a la carte but ate my boyfriends Miso and we shared the Edemame. The bill came… they over charged me on my wine, and charged us for the Miso and Edemame. I complained about being charged for it. It comes free with the all you can eat… they couldn’t put it on his all you could eat because I ate part of it. Even after I complained they refused to accommodate me, someone that has spent a lot of money there. They couldn’t even take $ 6 dollors off just to keep a customer. This isn’t a town where they can continue to give horrible customer service and over charge every one. The waitress there is horrible also. I’m in the service industry and know how to make customers happy and keep them. Not this place. If you want good Sushi go to The Joint in Sparks. This sushi is not worth the bullshit customer service and prices.

My parents were in town and they are not sushi eaters but they wanted to try. David the chef was so nice to only give us rolls with cooked ingredients for my mom and they offered my little brother a teriyaki chicken meal. My husband mom and dad had all you can eat. My mom loved all of the rolls! And I love that if we et all u can eat we can share. Also my dad and husband totally enjoyed the beers they were having and the food. Awesome time. :)

Mr. Lee is the best Sushi maker artist I have experienced, his food has such powerful flavor and appearance, wow and Damn, MR. LEEGETS5STARS!!! Now for the rating is because of his co-workers and waitress, big girl with tattoos that never comes by to refill drinks without having to be flagged down and for the nasty as hell Fried Rice that is made from sushi rice which turns the fried rice sweet, greasy and very unappealing. $ 10 dish with just a couple of bites taken out and the waitress was told how nasty it was and still charged full price. So Amerikan Sushi your waitress has cost you a customer.

In a word — no. Don’t do it. I beg you, if you have never had sushi before, don’t let your first time be here. Aside from questionable quality and taste(I’d enjoy a salt lick over the miso but the sashimi wasn’t bad) the prices and above all — the service — so bad. I was beyond embarrassed to take my parents and friends here. They messed up our order and refused to take the incorrect rolls off our bill. They said they made them, they were expensive for them to make and so we needed to pay for them even though they weren’t what we ordered, we didn’t eat them and they flat out messed up. I really didn’t enjoy the female owner of the restaurant yelling at to call the cops over the $ 20(in addition to the $ 180 we agreed to pay) we refused to pay for the rolls we didn’t order. Not that I should expect she would respect the seriousness of social service people considering she lacked customer service herself. Yuck. Save your money, time and calories on a place more worthy.

I can only write a review on the few things that are gluten free here. The food tastes fresh but has very few options for gluten-free diners. One of the waitresses was very knowledgable about what had gluten and what did not. It was nice to talk with someone who was familiar with gluten allergies. Most rolls have tempura so those are out. The veggie rolls are good but nothing exciting just fresh veggies(cucumber, lettuce, carrot, and avocado) rolled in rice and sesame seeds. No sauce, drizzle or anything fun or unique. They have chicken in a homemade teriyaki sauce, but it is made with regular soy sauce. I gave three stars for the waitress being so knowledgable about my food allergy but wish they would offer to make a gluten-free teriyaki sauce or something simple to excite my palate a little! Basically, if you come here with a gluten allergy, you can eat plain grilled chicken with white rice and/or a few different plain veggie rolls. Not bad, but not much fun when I come with my friends to experience fun and unique food it turns there aren’t many options that are gf. While preparing to write this discovered the chefs will create special rolls based on your preferences but I don’t know that for sure.

Let me start by saying, I love Sushi. I eat it whenever I get the chance, and have been to my fair share of different restaurants. First off, I’ve never been here before. This was my first time, and I was a little nervous. You never know what you’re going to experience. The first thing that enticed me was their patience with my kids. I come with two relatively small children most places I dine at, and it really makes me feel more welcome when they are accommodating. We honestly kind of just ordered an array of things, but all of it was amazing. Their take on a lot of «common» sushi was definitely interesting, and they had a heavy use of seaweed salad. Sometimes, a little too much, but it was still great. The second thing that really got me to absolutely adore this place was that they didn’t make me buy a meal for my 18 month old son. Most times, in the past, when we have ordered a meal for him we end up taking most of it home because he’s just too little to eat. Here, they were giving us the option to have him either share with us, or eat some of my 3 year olds meal. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem buying my children meals, but when they are so little. they barely eat anything to begin with! I love their wine choices, as well. I would definitely go back, and hope I can soon! The only reason I give a 4⁄5 is because I, personally, really don’t like seaweed salad, and they put it on everything.

It was lunch time, I had been at the Medical Center in Minden and found Amerikan Ni Sushi on Unilocal.Sine most of the reviews were positive, I decided to give it a try. It was late lunch time(oneish) and the restaurant was fairly busy particularly at the sushi bar — good sign. The space is nothing fancy, but is tastefully and comfortably appointed with tables, a small bar area and a large wraparound sushi bar. I was given a choice of seating and opted for a table. After being seated, I was given a menu and water right away and was given time to review the menu. There were many tempting choices of various rolls, sashimi, appetizers, and full dinners. There are also soups and salads and desserts. Most items are under $ 12 with the regular rolls all under $ 10 I started off with the Miso soup. It was OK. I like a little richer broth, but this was tasty with generous cubes of tofu. For my entrée, I ended up choosing the«Pink Lady», a deluxe roll with spicy tuna and cucumber with seared tuna and tobiko on top. The fish was fresh and and the combination of spicy, sweet and crunchy was very good. The roe on top was not too salty and there was a good balance of rice and filling. The only minus was the rice was a little sloppy and could have been rolled a bit tighter. One end was not cut through completely, so it made it difficult to eat without falling apart. Service was efficient and the lone waitress did a good job of keeping tabs of the customers and refilling drinks. I would come here again when back in the area.
