Best coffee shop in the Twin Cities! Amazing espresso, so you really can’t go wrong with any espresso drink you like from a Cortado(my favorite) to one of their handcrafted«fancy lattes»(not your overly sweet, no espresso flavor latte found at the big brand shops). Also their batch coffee(fancy way to say drip coffee) and pour over coffees are always perfectly brewed with quality beans. I brought two friends to Angry Catfish this morning and both said their lattes were the best they ever had and insisted we stopped by this afternoon for another round!

Really neat little coffee shop tucked into a bike shop. How quintessential-Minneapolis. The coffee is excellent. My go-to drink here is an americano, hot or cold, as the Intelligentsia is just too good. I’ve never had a bad americano from Angry Catfish. If you want a slightly fancier drink, the Sea Salt Mocha is delicious. Perfect parts sweet and smoky. It’s a small place, usually only 1 – 2 people working, so it can take a while to get your drink. But that’s a small sacrifice for such good coffee. Ample seating, and a stones throw from the lake makes it a great place to catch up with someone. It can get a little loud in the shop, but that’s when you go outside for a walk around the lake. Again, a small sacrifice.

The danger in visiting Angry Catfish is that you walk in intending to buy a nice Americano, but potentially end up walking out with an amazing $ 1,500 bike. This hasn’t happened to me(yet) but it’s a legitimate concern. Why there aren’t more bike store slash coffee shops in the world I have no idea, but it’s genius. Typically I visit Angry Catfish for an Americano because it’s a darn good Americano. It goes perfectly with a donut. The baristas make great coffee and they make great conversation, too. It’s such a friendly place, and one of my favorite south Minneapolis coffee shops.

This place is designed to serve its purpose perfectly. Yes, they serve coffee and service and sell bikes, but it was not confusing or chaotic unlike some other shops like this I have been to. Nice bar to drink your coffee in house, or wait for you bike to be fixed up. I enjoyed the coffee, my husband the bikes, and my non-coffee drinking family enjoyed the bakery next door! Win-Win-Win. I ordered a cortado and it was presented beautifully, I felt as if the espresso was a bit over extracted. But they were very busy when I came, and it was still a delicious cup of coffee :) The barista on bar was nice and friendly, but the one on register really wasn’t interested in her job for the day and looked like she was on facebook or something… The staff in the bike part(I think Joshua rang up my t-shirt?) were very nice as well and you could tell they all really loved their job!

Nice coffee shop and nice bike shop… literally intertwined! There are bikes just casually around, so if cycling is your passion, you will feel at home. I came here after work one day and found much enjoyment in the comfortable couches and jazz music. I got a hot chocolate, and for $ 4.25, ehh nothing spectacular. I seriously don’t know how some places can master it so well! It wasn’t very hot so ended up being like lukewarm chocolate milk, but by all means, I will still come back here but probably for a regular dark roast(hopefully earlier in the day then). Nice window bar and besides that, one or two tables, so it’s not necessarily a place that you can sprawl out for hours at a time. They sell Baker’s Wife deliciousness but at a higher price, still incredibly tempting. Overall, nice environment and just a good chill vibe.

I’m a transplant from Portland, OR to the area. This place reminds me of Portland! They make great chai tea, hot or cold. The staff is friendly too. It’s not in my neighborhood but someone(who lives close to it) recommend it. I’ll make the trip back just for the atmosphere and chai!

I should be able to order something on the menu with out getting a bad attitude… The couple times I’ve stopped in it seems like customer service is a hassle.

I gotta say I was really impressed. This is my second visit and I was greeted by the barista as soon as I walked in. Talk about welcoming! Now, this is a bike shop-and not a coffee shop sit and stay, so that’s why I docked off one star. But I really liked how nice and engaging the barista and register person were. They made me feel welcomed and like I mattered-which might not matter to you, but matters to me. Customer service is important! I got a Cortado, and it was beautifully made! Tasted great, and I also got an iced soy Miel, which was also great. If I’m ever in the area, this is where I would go!

Fantastic coffee and it’s attached to a bicycle shop, in case you’re biking around and want a coffee

I was in town the other day and wanted to check out some of the première coffee stops in the Twin Cities. Found myself at Angry Catfish and while I thought that there was a lot to recommend it, however there were a couple of issues that would keep me from coming back. First, my only cold brew option was on nitrogen. I know that it is currently a fad, but I don’t like what it does to the taste, keep some regular on hand too. Also, the food options were almost non-existent. I know that they are next to the Baker’s Wife, but I didn’t want to wait in two lines. On the plus side, the staff was great and I really liked the ambiance.

Top notch coffee and pastries(and located next to a bakery) and a rad bike shop, yes please. Great, inviting atmosphere with tons of gear to look and drool over.

Great coffee shop + everything bicycle related. However, I came for the coffee. They don’t offer flavoring a for any of their lattes, but if you’re like me and need something to cut the bitterness of espresso, get a miel latte. Miel is the Spanish word for honey. A miel latte is just sweet enough to mask the bitterness of espresso. It’s a nice break from the usual over powering sugar flavor sweeteners used in most lattes. Highly recommend.

The smoked sea salt mocha was a knock your socks off cup of wonderful coffee. Nice friendly service and comfortable tables and chairs in the bike shop. I will be back. need to try out the bag of beans I bought today.

Cute little shop. The cold pressed coffee was good, nice and strong. I just came for the coffee but the bike shop portion seems impressive.

Stopped by Angry Catfish after I grabbed some bakery goods around the corner to grab coffee and was very delighted at service and coffee! Environment is really cool with a bike shop in the back. The people are really friendly! Definitely would recommend it to others :)

I have brought my bikes here for repairs about five times in the past three years. When they discover the problem they patiently explain in clear language how they intend to fix it, the parts required and the labor they will need to charge to complete the work. On two occasions they fixed the problem so quickly they didn’t bother charging me at all. One of those times I brought my bike in for an annual tune up(I had purchased the bike elsewhere and had just moved near their location. The guy made about five minutes of adjustments took the bike of the rack smiled and said you’re good to go for another year then we can do a full tune up when it will need it. I walked out paying nothing and felt a little guilty. When they do charge you it is fair reasonable and the work is top notch. Now I only wish I could afford to buy one of their bikes to reward them for their great attitudes and customer service. They sell very high quality high end bikes.

Bicycle shop: admittedly this place is a bit intimidating to a not-very-serious cyclist like me. Many of the bikes they sell are carbon fiber masterpieces. I on the other hand have an ill-fitting mid 90s mountain bike I bought off my brother in 1999 sooooo… I don’t really know what I am doing. But these guys were really helpful. Very informative and not condescending at all. There was a slight snafu when I came to pick up the new bike. However, they more than made it right. They went above and beyond really. Yep, it’s an indy bike shop in MPLS so there are hipsters galore. But, pretty much every hipster I have ever met has been genuinely nice. Don’t let that stop you from coming in. They are nice. You wouldn’t want to be judged based on your street clothes or head to toe spandex either. The coffee is excellent too.

Intelligentsia coffee. That’s all you need to know. You will be hard pressed to find better coffee in the city. Plus, it’s next door to The Baker’s Wife. Two complaints: They will not sell you espresso beans from their supply(Peace on Minnehaha will). I have a pretty sweet home brew espresso set-up, so I like getting the freshest beans possible. They are often out of the pre-packaged supply. Just sell me a pound of beans already! Some of the bike shop employees are stuck up ass-hats. We get it, you’re a hipster fixy-riding, beard-oil using tool. Don’t treat me like I’m inferior. That being said, they do amazing work. And, most of them are wonderful.

I recently went to angry catfish to get my bike fitted. I am so impressed at how knowledgeable the staff is. They answered all my questions no matter how silly they were. Josh who did the fitting was great! No pressure or up sales. The price quote I received was great and actually came in a little under! Which is nice. It was a comfortable experience. Jamie answered all my questions about long bike rides and different snacks to try what works best and why. They have a nice variety of bikes for sale along with clothing and other. Good thing they don’t have a angry catfish credit card or my husband and I would be in some serious debt! I will recommend them to all my friends. Thanks for the great customer service. It’s not rocket science and yet it seems more and more difficult to find these days. You all rock! Keep up the great work.

This place is awesome. I don’t have a cool bike but I am a literal coffee addict. This place is unique and has a different vibe than the rest of the other coffee shops in Mpls. Latte art was on point and the cup of joe was pure goodness. Half delicious coffee shop/half bike-repair shop. It’s a cool mixture.

A shop with a creative name in a cool neighborhood. It was amazingly quiet as I sat in Angry Catfish. For a coffee bar that is a bike repair shop there was only the ting tingly of the repairs and low talking mechanics talking to their customers. The overhead music is low. There is a small selection of eats but I did try the shipped in wafers known as an Amsterdam Waffle. They are made to dunk into your brew so expect a little dryness. They are a tasty little energy lift and a nice change from the usual biscotti other places tend to offer. Since I only drink brewed dark roast with nothing added I can’t judge all the coffee products. The roast was fair, have had better, have had worse but I would return for a cup anytime. but oh so many places to go too. Plenty of wide windows to let the daylight pour in and comfortable seating including window stools, living room style couch and chair and Dr. waiting room furniture. Hey who went to the second hand store when starting the coffee bar?

This is quite the fun little spot with an eclectic mix of caffeine and bikes! I must say it’s the first time I’ve seen these two together, but here it really works. The coffee shop is where we did the majority of our chillaxing. My little guy had a hot chocolate which he felt was up to par and I had a new beverage I hadn’t tried in some time — a smoked sea salt mocha. The drink was excellent! Just enough smoke to keep your mouth guessing a bit but matched well with the sweetness of the chocolate and the bitterness of the espresso. A well thought out drink indeed. Plenty of seating including some bar stools, a number of couches and plush chairs, plus standard seating. Free wifi and plenty of writers making sure others see it. Fun spot and worth checking out.

This place is totally awesome. Firstly the coffee — the quality is excellent and not your run of the mill bullshit drip coffee you get in other ‘local’ coffee shops or even the chains like Starbucks and Caribou(even though I do love the ‘Bou, but you can suck it Starbucks). So anyway — coffee here is awesome and they have baked goods from the bakery a few doors up the road on the corner(Baker’s Wife — truly fantastic, insert drooling Homer Simpson image). This coffee shop also boasts a full blown bike shop! Ha! I’m not an avid cyclist nor am I a hipster but I really dig this place. It’s quiet yet there’s a tangible vibe in there that keeps me coming back again and again. LOVE. IT. :o) Go! Go! Go!

Some of the best coffee I’ve had in Minneapolis: bold and strongly flavored without being bitter. On a bit of a budget, I went for a regular drip coffee, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much flavor it had. I definitely want to come back and try the Sea Salt Mocha my friend had! The place itself is interesting as it is half bicycle shop, half coffee shop. This is probably why I initially drove by the place when my friends and I went to meet up there after a Kettlebell class at Southside Kettlebells only a few blocks away. It’s right next to a Baker’s Wife(also incredible, and who doesn’t want to stop for a pastry after coffee?), so I thought I couldn’t miss it, but the sign above the place says«bicycles» and I was looking for Angry Catfish«coffee».
