Went to celebrate a couple of my friends birthdays. Overall it wasn’t the best. Entrance wasn’t expensive but the drinks were crazy expensive. 2 shots were the cost of a large bottle. Seems like barfly charges a lot of $$ for their drinks to make up for the lack of people. The music was okay, not too great but not the worst. I had a good time because I was with my friends but we will not be back there again. Save your money for one of the better clubs right down the street.

My group of friends(15 people) arrived at Bar Fly and it was DEADASS. We thought we would try something new, however, it wasn’t as we expected. The music was pretty bad and was playing old EDM mixes such as «I’m Blue» and«Friday by Rebbeca Black. As soon as they started playing that, it was time for us to go. Additionally, their drinks are EXPENSIVE! They give you these white plastic flimsy cups bought at the dollar store. Personally, this is not my type of club, but if you enjoy OLDEDM/techno music, then this is your thanggg. Hope this helps!

Barfly is a fun and friendly place to hit on straight guys on the weekends after they have a couple drinks. Shallow denial of sexuality thinly veiled by drunkenness has caused me to take up the rear with just about any guy I set my sights on in this joint.

I love the staff here, overall a friendly environment. I always have a really good time. They have specials in Tuesdays And Thursdays and this usually draws a bigger crowd than weekends.

Well, I’m definitely not 21 anymore. We came here for my bachlorette party and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Being as we are«old» we arrived earlier than the party people, but within an hour the place was packed. Good: DJ was good and played a lot of great dance songs We had own our booth/section complete with stripper pole Bad: The 8 of us sat at in an empty bar for 10 minutes before our pre-ordered drinks arrived, no excuse for that It was a fund night. i must say I don’t recommend putting vodka in your champagne like we did :)

Went there with my South Dakota friend and 2 of his little league coaches who were under 21 at the time, we had went to a Friday night Twins game and went to Barfly so the younger guys could experience a club in Minneapolis. I felt bad bringing them there, there was hardly anyone there, maybe like 2 girls and 10 guys including one creepy nerdy lookin kid that looked 16 running around waving glow sticks and trying to dance with other guys… its cool at the 90’s but please not here…

I go to school with some absolutely adorable girls who aren’t of drinking age. We couldn’t resist the urge to take them out, so we planned an all ages outing. Unfortunately minneapolis lacks a solid 18 plus scene. I was instantly a little sick when we directed our taxi to this establishment. My friend who was of drinking age set her empty drink down in the bathroom after asking a staff member if she should bring it back to the bar, they had told her no. Then before I knew it, all of my friends were being escorted out and accused of letting our younger friends drink. No one saw it happen because it didn’t. It was pretty upsetting given the obscene cover charge we paid to stand in a near empty room. I called to speak to the manager who told me in broken english that I sounded like a broken record and that next time I come he’ll give us everything for free. All in all, not a fun night at all. If you’re offering 18 plus and still serving alcohol, get a grip.

Only two reviews? Time to do this place some justice! Went out to BarFly last night and had a great time. Upon arriving the guy at the door carding was friendly, and we proceeded to enter the club. However, the $ 8 cover is cash only, and the ATM inside is broken. After crossing the street to «Seven» and using their ATM, we returned to BarFly and went inside. The place had plenty of people, but wasn’t packed. The bartender was friendly and knew her drink specials, although the drinks were a bit overpriced. The music was pretty generic club music, but fit the scene well. They’ve got some stripper-poles to dance on if that’s your thing, a larger floor than I expected, and a seating area in the corner. Guys, there’s a lot of cute ladies here! Talked to a good dozen of them and they were very friendly, met a few cool guys too. I rarely stay at a place until close, but I actually had so much fun here I stayed. Will return, but probably will do my drinking somewhere else. Either way, thanks BarFly for the good times!

This review is about the Loft at Barfly(the second floor) and not Barfly — the Top 40 Dance hits club on the main floor. First off the staff at the Loft at Barfly is about as pleasant as a pregnant lady in the middle of giving birth, the place is dirty and overall I have had only negative experiences every time I have been there. I am not into the whole Dubstep scene, but I have gone to the Loft to support friends who are local DJ’s and artists. Each time I go there I dread it! Not so much because of the people who go to the concerts there but because of how awful the staff is. From the moment you enter Barfly and head up the elevator to the second level where the loft is located, nothing but bad vibes is all one feels! Once you get off the elevator, a generally rude group of hostesses who clearly hate their job and hate working there rudely asks you for your ID and huff and puff their way along as if you are inconveniencing them for doing their job! My friend had a large group of people on a list to get into the Loft for her birthday and the hostesses literally went postal and freaked out because we were trying to explain to her that a friend waiting to get in was on the list, she somehow dropped the pass/guest list –yelled and said to back away and said we were too close, when I was literally about a foot away. Once everyone got in about 10 out of 25 people left the loft and went to another place because of the awful experience and how rudely we were treated just at the entrance. From a business /DUH standpoint, if your customers have a bad experience from moment they walk in the door, clearly the negative first impression with effect the entire experience from arriving to departure! I like the people who attend the venue; they all seem to be pretty cool and chill and are there to dance and have a good time! If you aren’t into the dance/rave/dub step, glow stick scene it is not the place for you. I guess my main problem is with the bouncers, hostesses and bartenders. But the Go Go Dancers, local artists and Dj’s are great people!

This place is a one level dance club. Its very large for one level and equipped with not one but 2 stripper poles and also 2 stages so its pretty tight for shows and stuff. Full bar, nice loungeing areas, and friendly staff too. So its a 4 in my book

I went to the Loft @ Bar Fly on Friday night to see Detroit techno music legend DJ Derrick May. It was not my first time at Bar Fly, but it was my first time upstairs at the Loft. What a difference a trip up the elevator makes! While Bar Fly is just another trying-too-hard-to-be-posh club, the Loft is a completely down to earth, almost makeshift music venue. It felt like we were at a party rather than a nightclub. The sound was decent, the bathrooms were in good shape, and there was plenty of room to dance and get a drink. The bar and seating area are in a separate room from the music, so we could even sit down and have a conversation when we needed a break from the thumping beats. When another one of my favorite DJs comes to town to spin here, I would jump at the chance to go back and bring my friends.

All I have to say is EMPTY!!! Went there on a wednesday because wanted to just try out a new place because I have never been there before and it was totally dead! I mean the place has lots of room and good music so I dont get why its so friggin dead? 2 dollar drinks is a good deal for downtown and they had that all night so I dont get it!

Oiy. A friend was DJing here and begged me to come. I’d only ever walked by, and the marquee looks classic, so I figured it’d be fun — we were on the list after all. Well, it was an 18 plus night, maybe a Wednesday, which meant lots of girls from the suburbs doing pole dances. It was also a Ladies Night, which meant lots of oddball guys, many of whom didn’t seem to have come with anyone, standing around the edges, leering. The cocktail waitresses may be an everyday thing — I’ve never been back to check — but the night I went they were wearing black lacy thongs, garter belts, skin tight black boots, bras adorned with feathers, etc. They were all bleach-blondes of a certain height. It was not awesome, in part because I wasn’t much interested in girls parading around in their underwear, but also because they looked sort of uncomfortable and I felt bad for them. But the special was $ 1 you-call-its, something I may never again experience. We got to sit in the VIP area, drinking and watching the mayhem, so the evening itself was pretty amusing. The venue, however, was not

Brutal. There’s a large infestation of literal Bar Flys here, the kind that take pictures of them self in the«vip» section here and then put it on their myspace titled«In The Vip!» . It’s not for me. hopefully someone who finds this place enjoyable can give a review and list why. it might be enjoyable for a different type.
