Recently my mom underwent major surgery, and living out of state it’s difficult to help in her recovery. I really wanted to find a meal delivery service for my parents to take some of the burden off my dad, and provide a few great meals for my mom. This search led me to Bonnicelli’s Fresh Meal Delivery. Today I finally pulled the trigger and submitted my order and wanted to share my experience. I have a few questions, so I sent my inquiry early and the morning, and almost instantly received an e-mail back from Bonicelli herself. Many times submitting an e-mail just means you are lost in the mix, and I was pleasantly surprised regarding the response and she was willing to work with me for my specific need. She called me during the time frame I had available in the early afternoon and we went through the various options. Bonicelli was very helpful and willing to worked within my requirements. Since they do not currently have e-commerce setup they take your credit card information over the phone, which I appreciated because I could finish the transaction in one call. What I really appreciated was when we ended the call, she make a point of assuring me that she would take good care of my parents with the 3 full meals I ordered. That brought me a peace of mind that someone else cared and was helping look out for them, even if it’s just a couple meals. Sometime’s it’s just the little things in life that make the biggest difference, especially when recovering from a major surgery. I look forward to my parents feedback when they receive their meals on Monday, April 7, 2014. I will post their response to the food. I’m confident it will match the wonderful experience in ordering the meals for them.

I am so thankful that a friendly Unilocaler alerted me about this event a few weeks ago, and I am really glad that I participated in such an event. Held in the large front room of one of those big, old historic houses, it seemed the perfect venue. Free parking out on the area streets. Inside were people mingling about in small groups, and ahead of us was a sign-in table along with a nice woman introducing herself and telling us a little bit about the event. Check-in was easy on an ipad-type device. It had been completely unnecessary for us to print out our«receipt» because we were on their list already(I don’t like to waste pieces of paper and ink). Also at the check-in table was a man with a few different bottles of wine lined up with a group of wine glasses just waiting for their respective pours. All wines presented were Spanish and I chose the sirah over the cab-merlot blend. There were 4 food stations set up around the room and I began with a small cup of warm-ish spring pea and bibb lettuce purée soup with a parmesan«crisp» floating on top. It was amazingly delectable. Later on, I had a 2nd serving of it. Next up was an Asian-inspired rice noodle salad with marinated, shredded chicken and crushed peanuts on top. It had excellent seasoning with bright ginger flavor and a little bit of a spicy«kick». Next up was a fish/seafood taco on homemade soft corn tortillas. This was my favorite taste of the evening. At 2 or 3 bites, it was a perfect size and blending of flavors. I think I ate 5 throughout the evening(I was there until 8:30pm). Loved this item! Then I tried the Vietnamese pork bun. It, too, was a nice size and easy to pick up and bite into; however, it was a bit too sweet, overall, for my liking. Lastly, Laura came around with a tray of her Mexican Paletas — a mini-popsicle of pureed cucumber, lime juice, and jalapeño(with just a touch of sugar). So unusual and so refreshing. I ate a 2nd one later on. It’s clear to me that this chef cares about what she’s doing in her art and she wants to get it all out into the world for the rest of us to enjoy. The idea of well prepared meals is wonderful, and for those who can afford to subscribe to such a service, they will be well fed and very satisfied. If I were planning an event, I would consider her(and her staff) to work on the menu and prep. My friend asked if she would cater and deliver lunch all the way out to the Lakeville edge of Burnsville and she said yes. She said yes!

This is the way to introduce a business, by having a free tasting at an informal gathering. It was at 2100 Stevens Ave. across from the Gale Mansion. Lot of historic buildings in that area by a nice park. I started with a very seasonal bibb lettuce pea soup, which is delicious at any temperature. Asian salad was like a garden come to life. Homemade pork buns had a nice sweet/spicy blend of flavors. I loved the fish tacos. This was a great event, and have never been to one quite like it. There are some things that make Laura’s service very special. One, she’s Italian. She was a personal chef to Mark Dayton before he was Governor. She’s very well traveled, and give the impression she can cook anything, and will deliver to a wide range of places. I’m a gourmet cook, and I was very impressed. I love her uniform, black petal pushers, and an airy black chef top, look very comfortable as well as professional. This is a very cool service.
