I ordered several sandwiches for a meeting and they were great. The pesto club was really good. I ordered online to be delivered and they came exactly on time.

I had the black and bleu on wheat. Each aspect of the sandwich gave me a different feeling, so i will review each ingredient. Roast beef: plentiful, but bland and flavorless. Bleu cheese: flavorful but very little of it, not nearly enough. Onions: very tasty and added texture, but couldve used more. Bread: basic sliced wheat bread. Nothing at all special. Overall, the main parts were the bread and the meat, and those were the weak spots of the sandwich. For $ 8 for the sandwich only, i expected more flavor from the main event, and better bread. Service was ok, a bit slow. Im not sure ill be going back. I may try a different sandwich if the price wasnt so high. Otherwise there’s better value all over downtown. Edit: I did go back a few times and tried a couple different sandwiches. The chairman is amazing, also their Tuna salad, packed full and tasty. So it seems the first sandwich may have been a fluke.

I work downtown but am far away from the skyway system– this is the best lunch delivery in my opinion. Full of flavor, as opposed to so-so sandwiches and soup. The couple dollars extra in pay is well worth the value and quality you get. I get the Chairman with turkey instead of pastrami and it’s one of the best sandwiches in Minneapolis, and huge.

Full of flavor for a sandwich spot. The one thing aboutthe skyway– it’s over-run with soup/sandwich places, so you have to make yourself stand out against all the average lunch spots serving up the same things. Lunch cube definitly does, I’ve had the chairman and the executive, both were very tasty, with quality ingredients. Prices are a little steep, but it’s worth it. and almost expected when buying in the skyways.

Here’s the weird thing… we almost didn’t go inside because all the chairs were up on the tables leading us to believe it was either closed or almost closed. Not a very welcoming sight to say the least. But we saw someone at the front counter picking up an order to we walked in and asked if they were open. Ordered the chairman and it was really good, but could use more sauce(a little dry for my liking). I asked for some mustard to put on it. My husband loved his sandwich and the chili. He only ordered a half, but they gave him a whole(always a bonus). We had to remove chairs from the table to sit down and eat(again, kind of weird), but all in all it was a great lunch spot :)

Had a grilled pastrami, which was good but not outstanding, as well as a greek salad, which was excellent. Would appreciate organic greens and more natural/local meat options. Friendly service. They have a lot of great magazines to read while you eat as well.

You’d think a place named after a geometric figure would be boring… bland even. But Lunch Cube somehow delivers up some amazing deli style food at a deli price, even though it tastes like it belongs to a much better restaurant! I was very impressed with the pasta salad that they make in house, as well as the sandwich that I ordered! Honestly, the only reason I took a star off the review is becuase of the shitty plastic décor they have. I would prefer retro design to the industrial thing they have goin on… But stop in and enjoy! Every sandwich comes with a pickle and a cookie! :-)

A smart person once said to me «If they put the sandwiches in a smaller container, then they can probably shave off a few dollars from the sandwich price.» To which I pointedly replied, «But, then, it would just be called Lunch Square.» And nobody likes a square. Nobody. Pricing and naming debacle aside, I’m excited that Lunch Cube finally moved from its forsaken location(as far as the lunch crowd is concerned) on Harmon Pl to the Skyway @ retek. It provides good competition to the nearby Quizno’s and Subway, and definitely has a more flavorful and specialized assortment of sandwiches. I’ve only been here once, and went for my automatic go-to choice: anything with pesto. That would be the Pesto Club sandwich, which has turkey bacon swiss with mustard-basil pesto lettuce and tomato. The pesto was beautiful and delicate, not too garlicky, even a little creamy. The bacon was A-mazing. This ain’t no thin Subway bacon, yo. This is thick, peppery slices of bacon; it’s not crispy, but it’s substantial. It wouldn’t be a daily lunch for me, but it’s definitely worth coming back to.

This was my first visit, at an invitation from @Joshua B below — I had«The Chairman» — a sandwich with a mix of grilled pastrami, cheese and a tangy jalapeño sauce. The sauce wasn’t hot at all, just added a bit of zip. Overall the sandwich was perfect — the bread was slightly sweet and played off the salty pastrami and the jalapenos perfectly. The bread was super fresh and thick cut — overall it was a delicious sandwich. I can’t wait to try another one. I also had a cup of the chicken-wild rice(hey, it’s Minnesota, what can I say? :) soup and I thought it was delicious. It was creamy, but not cloyingly so with a lot of tender chunks of white meat chicken and tons of wild rice. I will be going back — it’s maybe $ 4 more than Potbelly but the quality is infinitely higher. Well worth the money.

I’ve now had lunch at the new Lunch Cube twice in two weeks(located in the skyway between 10th and 9th streets on the west side of Nicollet Mall). I was and still am impressed by the vegetarian options on their menu because they’re different from anything else I can find downtown. The first time there, I had the grilled tofu/veggie sandwhich, and the second time I had the Asian salad with marinated mock duck. Having such options is nice, even if there are only a few(also not eating dairy right now, which canceled out soup). The first time, which was when I had the sandwich, I was very pleased with the friendly staff(as outgoing as Potbelly but less hyper) but disappointed in my sandwich. It stated on the menu that it was grilled tofu, zucchini, tomatoes and onions with a peanut-lime sauce. I was expecting a lighter sauce like a marinade on the tofu, but it was more like peanut butter on the bread. Peanut butter and onion are not a good combo in my book(nor are peanut butter and zucchini) so I did not think that the sandwich was very good. I could order it without the sauce but then it would probably be pretty dry. Dang. My second time there was a lot better. I had the Asian salad and added marinated mock duck and it was really good. The dressing had a bit of kick to it, and I really liked that there were whole snap peas and broccoli florets mixed in with the greens, onions, etc. The mock duck had a really nice flavor. In the end, it’s an alright place to lunch. Not at the top of my list but not at the bottom either. Kudos to the nice staff, fresh ingredients and I’m guessing that they are probably(hopefully) locally owned. I’d eat here before Panera any day. The only other thing I have to say is that the packaging is excessive — when I had just a sandwhich, it was packed to go in a box that could have held 6 sandwiches. Next time I’ll just ask them to fuggedaboutit.

Living downtown but working in the suburbs makes it incredibly difficult for me to enjoy Lunch Cube on any sort of regular basis. But, when I know I’m going to have a weekday at home, I do what I can to get there. I love the Grilled Chicken Mediterranean Flatbread Wrap so much that I wish I could stockpile them. It’s the perfect size and the ingredients have always been fresh and delicious. My husband enjoys The Chairman, with his big appreciation being for their bread choice, turning what could be a heavy, oily mess into something far less barbaric. It is a bit pricey if you want more than just a sandwich for lunch. But their customer service skills rock: one time, we visited on a day when many offices downtown were closed and it was ridiculously slow. For stopping by, the manager gave us some bonus Cubekies(sheet chocolate chip cookies sandwiched with sweetened cream cheese filling). I mean, never mind the great food; it’s things like that which keep me spreading word of mouth about this place whenever I have the chance.

I was in Minneapolis for work and had an hour for lunch between meetings. Found this little gem of a place from Unilocal,and walked over from my hotel. It’s a tiny, hole-in-the-wall type place, and it seems like you have to know about it in order to go there; not much outside foot traffic. I was immediately intrigued by the menu and the creative combinations of traditional ingredients. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have any soups but chili, and I finally decided on the Black and Blue Panini,(Roast Beef, Bleu Cheese, and Grilled Onion with a Red Wine Aioli). I was out of there in minutes and carrying my lunch cube back to my hotel. Definitely a tiny place that you’d either want delivery from, or takeout. My sandwich was still hot when I got back. Hot, generously cut, thick layers of juicy roast beef in thick, perfectly grilled bread. I forgot about everything else in the world. The cookie was just okay, but damn, that was a fantastic sandwich. I would definitely be back if I ever find myself in Minneapolis again. I saved half for later, and ended up eating it after going out with my co-workers that night. I wouldn’t recommend leaving a sandwich out all day, but I didn’t hesitate, it was just as amazing as before, and that really shows you how good it is. A must-try if you’re in the area!

A co-worker and I used a Groupon at Lunch Cube and had a very tasty lunch. They offer a fairly healthy menu and a variety of sandwich choices. I would highly recommend the lunch combo ‘cubes’ and the chicken ceasar flatbread wrap. Bonus: Free delivery

A buddy and I walked a couple blocks from work to a great sandwich shop by work. It was a perfect day as we entered the obviously, highly into catering sandwich shop. My friend said the owner was a chef from one of the great restaurants downtown. They were busy packing lunches for clients and we were the only in house customers. I surveyed the large board above the cash registers and there were delectable concoctions everywhere. My buddy recommended The Chairman Panini which had pastrami, provolone and a jalapeño relish. I ordered one and a Diet Coke and it was about 10 bucks, a little steep for a sandwich and soda from a small shop compared to Jimmy John’s or Subway, but it turns out you pay for quality. A couple more bucks was definitely worth it. They were out of pastrami, but the chef recommended a honey brisket they had in stock… Great choice. They actually cooked the meat in a small saucepan, which was really cool compared to other places I have been where they just put the panini in a waffle maker like toaster and melt everything together. We decided to sit outside and after about 10 minutes our order was ready. The wait was no problem since it was a perfect day outside and we just discussed life. We were notified our sandwich was ready and I noticed there was the perfect amount of shaved meet with a golden brown wheat bread that had the perfect amount of «Crunch» as I bit down into the heavenly delight. The relish was tangy yet a little spice to it. Awesome little chunks of pickle in the relish melted in my mouth. The meat was savory and perfect, with just the right amount of cheese to mellow everything out. The Diet Coke cleansed my palette for every new bite which was outstanding every time. The extra couple of bucks was well worth the wait and price. Hopefully this new joint will get a nice following even though it is on the outskirts of downtown.

This is my new go-to destination when meeting friends or coworkers for lunch downtown. There just isn’t enough buzz yet about this place, so I’d like to help get it going. Although a bit pricier than one would expect, the sandwiches are some of the best I’ve had downtown. The panini bread is thick but still extremely light on the inside. The amount of meat is just about right, and the extras complement the rest of the sandwich well. I’ve been here twice now and had the Ham and Brie and The Chairman(grilled pastrami, provolone, smoked tomato aioli, jalapeño relish). Overall, two perfectly balanced, light but flavorful gourmet sandwiches. Food aside, the service there was just okay, and the location is tucked away on one of the quieter downtown streets. It hasn’t been very crowded during my two visits, but I’m sure they intend to do more of their business through lunch catering, and like I said, haven’t heard a lot of buzz yet. Maybe when more food vendors hit the streets, people will be more prone to explore the broader downtown area and discover places like the Lunch Cube. Maybe there will even be a «Lunch Cart»(little) sister location somewhere on Nicollet? I guess we’ll see how well the main location does first, so go out and give it a try.
