Personally for the price and taste I choose China express over Sheung Chang. Very authentic and made right in front of you. I believe this place is very underrated because the food is fresh and really tasty. When I need some Chinese close by this is the spot to go for the price and food. Definitely recommend.

Food is great and delivery is always really fast. Their online ordering system works really well. Can’t complain at all. :)

Tonight I ordered from them and they forgot a portion of my order, even though I paid for it online. When I called them to ask about the whereabouts of my food the lady said she was sorry and offered to give me ‘free wings and two eggrolls” on my next order if I call to order. I politely asked if they could just deliver my wings now as I paid for them and she said they couldn’t because they were too busy. Um– I paid for this food you twat! I even called the driver and he said he would call me back– never did. Never again– there are far better places for me to order from– only used them for their prices and quick delivery.

Every time my boyfriend is in town, this is on our list of must haves! If we want Chinese food, this is where we go. For starters, were college students and practically broke, so their prices are fantastic for our situation. You HAVE to try their fried dumplings. They are the best dumplings I’ve ever had. We also always get the sesame chicken which is always amazing as well. Periodically we get the beef with broccoli, however there is usually way more broccoli than beef which personally I don’t mind since I love the stuff, but someone else might. If you are looking for something quick and cheap for dinner, this is definitely a good place to try.

We Ordered Chinese for delivery. Got the cream cheese wontons, curry chicken with onion and chicken chow mien. The cream cheese wontons were large and full of cream cheese, came with a large container of sweet and sour for dipping. Very good! The curry chicken was spicy, with onions and green peppers, little light in the chicken but was very tasty! The chicken mien was really good, with flavor that was not to salty and the vegetables were cut in large chunks. The chicken was also nice large chunks. Plenty of left overs for 2 people. We will definitely order from them again!

This place is just a rip off. The fried rice is a pathetic excuse of edible food that should not be consumed. Our sesame chicken was absolutely pitiful and the delivery was painfully slow. There are better places to go than this place I know that.

I always get take-out from here. The good: General Tso’s, Shrimp w/garlic sauce, Crab wontons, Veggie Lo mein. Fast delivery. The Iffy: Cashew Chicken(I personally don’t like the chicken breaded in cashew chicken and that is how it comes here) The bad: Egg rolls. Icky. Too much cabbage, flavorless.

I mean its controversial, some like it some don’t, if u are looking for some fancy Asian food go to big bowl, but if u are looking for some nasty delicious Chinese food u are at the right place! Black pepper chicken and mix that with some hot souse, perfect.

Sorry Pagoda but somehow the asian lady(I am guessing owner?) won me over with her charm. I first came here because the staff at my department venture here occasionally for lunch. I told them I tend to go to Pagoda and they looked at me, confused. So, between my office hours with students and my clinical training, i ran here to try their take-out since it is «Express». First, they are fast! Second, the food are pretty consistent. People complain how they are not«fresh» but you come in for lunch knowing that you are buying food on a steam table. I tend to assume any food sold in such format can’t be expected to be super fresh. But the workers here also make an effort to replenish their food throughout lunch. I see the husband in the back cooking nonstop to make sure the table has«fresh» food as well. For less than $ 6 you get a box of an assortment of white/fried rice and 3 entrees. I like their black pepper chicken, mushroom pork and happy family which I think is just a stir fry of chicken, pork, and veggies. The huge box of food usually carries me two meals and I typically eat like I am a 6 foot 240 lb man, who have been starving for past 24 hours. Would I take friends here when they visit? No. Will I sit in here to eat? Probably not. Will I keep this place in my list of nearby Dinkytown«fast» food? You betcha. ;)

I’ve been to some holes in the wall in my day. This place takes the cake for The Worst Chinese Food I have ever eaten EVER!!! I WOULDN’T have even given them a star at All if I could. Trust me this food was Nasty! Plan and Simple Over priced and flavorless!!! OMG!!!

They sent me the wrong food. When I complained they initially argued with me, telling me that I ordered the wrong thing(I didn’t, nor would I have anything to gain by doing this). They then asked me to return it(I hope they weren’t planning on serving it to someone else) and promised a refund. They never refunded me my money. I’d like to give zero stars but I can’t.

Well well well… China express is not as bad as I thought it was. I got the tofu and broccoli in garlic sauce and some egg rolls. I was very satisfied with the tofu especially for the price. I also thought the egg rolls were very good. My boyfriend got the pork egg rolls and he liked them. I think the main problem China express has and the reason for the 3 star review is… lack of consistency. Some items are consistently good, others are consistently bad, others are good on certain days. In general, they have become my go to for cheap greasy chinese food. Not good but not bad either.

Hard to find good Chinese in the Twin Cities. We always went for the lunch special. Enough for two meals. The sesame chicken is awesome. Lo mein is great. Try the green beans too. Love it. Dirt cheap too, big bonus.

I went for the first time today for some comfort food: vegetarian lo mein. I didn’t have high expectations because the place looks like a fast food place. Also, the name also gives that away :). They have an eating area, which isn’t terribly big, but it’s not tiny either. It seems they do a lot of take out orders and have lunch express specials. They also have dinner specials, but those are made to order. I got the vegetarian lo mein with some spring rolls. The food came out fast and was steaming hot. I also had it made spicy, which made it so much better. This is definitely Chinese American fast food(greasy, hot, and spicy… yum!) at it’s finest. I got a small order of lo mein, which isn’t really a small portion. I was happy to find chunks of broccoli and lots of snow peas. Spring rolls were vegetarian and also good. Definitely a grease overload: p. I’ll be back soon because I liked the food and the staff is really friendly. I forgot to pay for my soda and when I called, the girl was like that’s ok, it’s on the house! Sweet! She had my credit card info and could have charged for it but didn’t :). Lots of options, fast, and hits the spot. Definitely a casual place, so don’t expect anything fancy. Only disappointment was that all the utensils were plastic.

this place took forever to make my food and tasted horrible! They used too much MSG in my food and I had stomach problems after eating here.

Typical Americanized Chinese food, though it is of a slightly higher quality than Panda Express. What brings it up a star is that the people there are very nice, and will chat with you if you aren’t busy.(I know most people get delivery from here, but they do have a sit down area.)

I have been going here off and on since about 2002. The thing that keeps bringing me back… I work less than 50 yards from the restaurant. It’s quick, decent and it’s cheap. That being said… The menu is typical American Chinese-style chow. You can get everything from wonton and noodle to General Tso Chicken or Fried Tofu. The menu hasn’t changed in years. Why fix what ain’t broke, and with that idea in mind you’ll find a lunch special with the same four or five items that you can choose from everyday out of the steamers when you walk in the doors Monday through Friday. The menu does accommodate Vegetarian eaters, and over the years, they have also acquiesced to some of the stranger requests that I’ve made, so they will treat a loyal customer rather well. You can see the cooking area from where you order and you can actually watch them prepare your food. The place is not the cleanest, and the staff is not the most polite or helpful, but they are one busy take-out/delivery joint. They do cater and offer delivery with a minimum order. Warning — if you have more than one person in your group paying with plastic, they can refuse the entire order. They’ve done that to us at work. Needless to say my work no longer orders from them. But — food wise, not too shabby. I have had far superior, but I have had far worse. Food is always hot and tasty, and they aren’t afraid to actually make your spicy food spicy when you ask for it. It’s probably the best place to go get a quick bite or fast take out on the campus. If you’re looking for more traditional Chinese food, or a more relaxing less fast paced take out, then there are a ton of options on the U of M campus alone that can satisfy you. Granted not many of them have room, but they also offer about twice the menu items than this place; and some of them are superior food wise. The place is worth a check out when you’re in need of cheap, quick and tasty eats. Pros: decent, FAST and cheap Cons: not the cleanest place on the campus, staff can be rude, and there’s only metered street parking.

I’m not saying it’s the freshest, or the most authentic in the city, but hot damn. After an all day bender at the library, i like to come here to get a large styrofoam box filled with fried rice and loads of crispy chicken chunks in a sweet, tangy sauce. Sometimes, that’s all i want and this place does it the best for the best price in this area so hurrah for that. Woo!

My favorite fast Chinese place in the city, this joint has Lee Ann Chin’s whooped. I am a regular here(I have their freakin number in my phone!!) and as soon as I walk in they know that I am going to get an order of steamed dumplings. I have never had anything so delicious in my life. Remember they are a fast food place though, so don’t go with any high falutin’ expectations of presentation or something you’ve never heard of. Sesame chicken, lo mein, fried rice, and chow mein all have places on the menu here. The lights are fluorescent and the seating mail-order, but if you want an inexpensive Chinese-American meal in Dinkytown, this is your spot.
