Got the Northern Smoothie today, and a yogurt parfait. Here for the SHAPE convention. I would recommend the smoothie, definite pass on the parfait. The yogurt(they said it wasn’t Greek) was bitter tasting… Too bad, as the granola was good. Note, it’s a conference center, so water is $ 3.50 a bottle. I paid $ 9.00 for the small smoothie and yogurt.

I’ve met two kinds of people: Starbucks People and Dunkin Donuts People. I’m the former and think Dunkin tastes like diluted mud.(Orrr what I presume mud would taste like.) So here I am in Minneapolis at the Convention Center. For HOURS. To LEARNSTUFF. Over THEWEEKEND. In such cases one needs caffeine, so I had to acquaint myself with Dunn’s. Holy cow! The good: — This is the best coffee I’ve ever tasted. Never thought I’d say that(sorry Starbies)! — Eco-friendly materials: I can recycle every bit of my container. Even the STRAWS are eco friendly! The cons: — The straws will melt in hot beverages.(:sigh: well, planet Earth, you ARE more important than my vanity.) — The price. Whoever says«Starbucks is overpriced» has clearly never been to Dunn’s! Sheyuttt: $ 3.5 for a medium coffee and over $ 5 for a medium Pumpkin Pie latte thinger. Five stars because their ish is damn good and they obviously care about the planet. Minus — one star for emptying my pockets.

The location in the Convention Center is convenient to my workplace so I usually end up here. I do like their drinks but I hate that they only offer the strawberry banana smoothie in a small size! Not enough smoothie! I also like their Vanilla Nirvana coffee drink. Their butter croissants are some of the better ones I’ve had in coffee shops like this. I don’t know if it’s because it’s downtown in the Convention Center, or I’m getting old and thinking about the«good old days» but their sandwiches do seem overpriced. I usually only get one when I’m in a hurry and don’t have the time to go somewhere else. They do have a loyalty program and an app for your phone that lets you use it to pay, and when you sign up you get $ 3 toward your first purchase using the app.

I like the seating area in the middle of the cavernous entry hall of the convention center. I had a brisk latte with a solid backbone, and a very good strawberry croissant. If you’re walking the town on a weekday when there’s not a major event here, you’ll find a cool and relatively quiet oasis.
