I am not a student, but offsite meetings have brought me to the UMN campus a lot in the past week. They always call for coffee, hot chocolate, or a beverage of some kind. This place is GREAT, I love their nutella latte(I got mine iced) and cold press! Would totally recommend it to anyone. Sometimes service can be slow depending on the number of baristas, but overall, good quality coffee.

the barista marina makes the best popovers the amount of feta she sprinkles on the batter before they are baked is so complimentary yet subtle when combined with the taste of my tomato bisque soup. also i love their americanos they have an extra kick that beat any sleepy z’s.

Just visiting, first time and last time coffee. Simple americano, no flavour, tasted like 7⁄11 coffee. Horrible, won’t be back.

Spent some time here while and the atmosphere is good. Some college kids, some professors, and Me and my lady visiting for grad school interviews. I can see us working on stuff and talking about things while in Minneapolis. Great place for the relief that might be cabin fever during the Winter semester.

The cappuccino here was awful! Burnt and super bitter tasting! I’m not sure what they did to it but I will never come back here and would never recommend it to anyone.

I too love their café miels(which no other coffee places have). They’re also the only coffee shop near the«U» with popovers(feta and plain) and great salads. I like to support independent businesses also. They have a really great staff, and there’s plenty of space without it getting too noisy.

Great service and delicious coffee. Always nice to go to a local coffee shop instead of chains. Check it out.

This coffee shop was a lot larger than it appeared from outside. There was a good amount of seating and a strip of power outlets on two separate walls. The staff was friendly and the service was relatively quick. I got a cappuccino with soy, and the price was reasonable. The cappuccino was too hot and mediocre overall. Also, I question if it was bad soy or not soy at all. I’m lactose intolerant and my bubble guts tell no lies. The music gets loud now and then and you can hear conversations pretty easily. Figured I’d mention this for those that are easily distracted; might want to bring a pair of headphones.

I love their café miels and iced mojito teas. This place has been around since I was an undergrad and I much prefer supporting the small business versus the huge corporate coffee place across the street. :) The café has a dark, comforting ambiance — great for writing, doing homework or meeting with a friend.

Just paid $ 4.18 for a small, low-quality cappuccino with burnt coffee. No thank you

Good stuff! I go here in between classes. I enjoy coffee houses like this because they are not chain establishments, they have quality coffee, they are not pretentious, and the staff takes the time to learn the names of their customers. This means a lot to me. They have a wide variety of eats; soups, salads, sandwiches, and staple goodies. I haven’t purchased any food to date, so I can’t speak on that, but it all looks great. I just pack my own. I must say, when I go in I always get the Americano, their Americano is tip-top, and not expensive like other places. An aside: I don’t see what the big idea is with charging an arm and a leg for coffee, but Expresso Expose is the opposite. You get quality here for a fair price, and great service. The location is perfect(along the light rail line, yet to come!), the staff is fantastic, and the drinks are quality. If you are around campus hit this spot up, matter of fact if you are down for a cool place to read and sip some good coffee come here.

It is always great supporting local coffee shops. The vanilla lattes are excellent. Wish they had more breakfast choices on weekends. I miss their excellent cinnamon rolls.

I love their coffee and pastry daily specials! But more than that, I love their creative drink specials. Each time I have come here, I have been amazed by the flavor combinations that they throw together. This last time: The Lumberjack. The barista described it as drinking a pancake. Genius! Last time: The Neapolitan. Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla, is there a way to improve? Looking forward to next time’s festive adventure!

I walked into the big chain coffee shop located across the street and the line was to the door. I was not willing to wait that long for breakfast(I mean, I’ve got a job and stuff) so I left and decided to check out Espresso Expose. Good choice! I ordered a mocha and a breakfast sandwich. I watched the dude crack the eggs and deposit them on a griddle. What?! No cellophane bag with pre-made sandwiches? Phenomenal! It was an absolutely delicious bit of fresh-made goodness. The mocha was served up at the perfect temperature, meaning I was able to start sipping right away. The baristas were helpful and friendly, even asking me about my weekend. Did I mention I didn’t have to wait in line? Only criticism, it’s a bit dark in there. Great for working on a laptop, but not so much for having a face-to-face conversation with someone. But seriously, the sandwich was delicious.

Espresso Expose is a great place to get breakfast sandwiches! For $ 4, they offer a breakfast sandwich that they make on the stove. They crack the egg, meaning, they do not microwave it. I have also had their pre-made sandwiches, and they are pretty good too. Unfortunately, I’ve never had their coffee, just sandwiches. Overall, you need to check this place out their breakfast sandwiches.

This is a charming place frequented by U of M regulars including the many employees of the area. Business has been down which management has blamed on LTR construction. Although the heavy work is complete and pedestrian traffic has mostly returned it still seems much slower here. Could it be they are giving up? I have had many great moments here but the last time the coffee was not served even close to an acceptable temperature. They do have fresh baked goods and sandwiches which are pre made and that has been consistent with good quality. The Baristas are a happy helpful bunch willing to help and make things correct. There are wide windows for viewing on Washington Ave., however the interior lighting is very dark so on a deep cloudy day it’s very dark inside.

This place is totally acceptable for having a coffee and studying or having a meeting. The staff have gotten significantly friendlier/more customer service oriented since I first started coming here, which is great. The food tastes ok, basic but doable. The brewed coffee is strong and acceptable(however, I’m not particularly discriminating with coffee, as long as it’s strong). The drawbacks? They have limited food options that are often heated in the microwave and not made to order, and there are a suspicious number of flies inside the café given that it’s November and the doors aren’t wide open…

No going to lie, I have never been a fan of their regular brewed coffee. But I went here today for lunch and decided to dabble around the drink menu. I ended up ordering their Americano(with a slash of SF hazelnut) and it absolutely rocked my taste buds! It was exactly the kind of midday pick-me-up treat I was looking for. Overall this place is pretty kickin’, friendly service, awesome lunch food(check out their vegan black bean soup, to die for!), and cozy little indoor atmosphere. It is slowly becoming my favorite little lunch break spot…

3.5 Stars My friend suggested having coffee at Espresso Expose today. She also wanted something to eat and wasn’t the only one disappointed to find that they weren’t serving food other than some pastries on the day after Thanksgiving. I saw a couple people stop in and then leave for that very reason. The place was mostly dead, but I guess it’s usually packed when school is in session. Anyways, we had to wait at the counter for awhile since the baritsa was engaged in cleaning projects and didn’t notice us. Once we got her attention though she was super nice. My nonfat caramel latte was excellent and topped with a pretty design in the foam. My friend had a regular coffee and her cranberry muffin looked yummy. I also saw a board that said«any drink and pastry for $ 5.50.» What a deal! Also worth noting — we were sitting near the door and it wasn’t freezing. That’s an accomplishment in MN in November. If I lived here I’d def consider coming back to Espresso Expose.

This is my go-to-place for soup. It’s getting to be that time of the year, and soup happens to hit the spot. Curry corn chowder and some mean chili are only some of the regulars. A cup is about $ 5 and comes with a roll or popover. Can’t comment on the coffeeshop portion because coffee gives me the jitters! But it is a nice place to eat well and browse the net free…
