I love dinkytown and hope businesses like these stay. This can be a good place to study but… The drinks are pathetic. The coffee taste like cheap office coffee. The specialty drinks are nothing special either. the downtown location make better drinks. The place has mold and dust in every corner. I wonder why they don’t clean it. Most of the time when a certain few employees are not making drinks they are outside smoking or just killing time. This place has lots of potential. I hope it gets managed a bit better.

Brief overview: Good coffee, good soups, alright sandwiches, great baristas, not very conducive for getting work done…

I go here several times a week. Here’s why: Although the couches are often inhabited by the homeless, the muffins are made almost completely of butter and melt in your mouth. Although sometimes you may find a stinky old man in the dirty womens’ bathroom, the coffee is always rich and smooth. Although you cannot use a credit card on purchases under five dollars, the baristas are excellent and always garner a tip from me. Although the customers are typically hungover college kids cramming for exams, the atmosphere has a little je né sais quoi. Seriously, no matter your qualms with this place, it has higher quality coffee and treats than other places in Dinkytown and the U campus. I would try the blueberry muffin and the ½ dipped cookie… amazing. *drool*

Kind of a hole in the wall, the fake flower boxes above are pretty cute and give a charming feel to the outside of the place. I had a pumpkin spice latte and it was alright, guess that’s my own fault cause I’m not a big Torani fan. Oh well. Also a good place to study; on the smallish side. If you want to sprawl there’s espresso expose down the way or purple onion in the other side of campus.

This Espresso Royale location is a pretty nice place. This location is very typical of the U Villiage and is a nice place to have a break, a coffee, and study or hang around with friends. Not as notable as some of the other ER locations, but nice all the same.
