The portions at FireBox are definitely enough to share for two. I tried the rib tips, collard greens and sticky rice. One of these things don’t belong; the sticky rice. I think the sticky rice is the Asian touch to barbecue. I enjoy stick rice but it is usually a dessert to me(Mango sticky rice). I ordered the rib tips with the barbecue sauce on top. They were tender and delicious. The collard greens were ok but nothing that was worth ordering again. As for the sides, I would want to try the macaroni and cheese next as it looked delicious. This appears to be mostly a carryout joint, because the door was constantly revolving, not literally. Therefore, if you decide to sit and enjoy your meal there should be plenty of seating. Located next to Dairy Queen, FireBox Deli has a seating capacity of 20. Yes, I counted.

Amazing bbq sauce, smokey tender and flavorful meats and some of the best sides in the Twin cities– especially the mac’n cheese. And at amazing prices!

Get anything you want from here and it is all delicious, seriously, I mean it. We usually get their beef brisket and wings both of which are seriously on point. Beef brisket: lean cut is a bit dry and more meaty but the juicier one comes with an epic layer of fat that just melts in your mouth. So specify which cut you want and that’s how they’ll prepare your order. You can also ask for their signature BBQ sauce to be put on the side or smothered on top of whatever you order. Calling your order ahead of time helps as FireBox has gotten busier but even if you order at the shop, you won’t have to wait longer than 15 minutes or so(depending on the size of your order of course, we usually order for two). Seems like the deli is family-owned and they are all very pleasant and friendly. They have their menu on their website but we have seen items like collard greens and egg rolls in the deli and not on their online menu. Best part is, their food has been consistently delicious — never had a bad experience.

I like their brisket and ribs not a big fan of the pulled pork… One of the places I consider when I feel like barbecue(happens a lot) … Dry rub gives u the perfect taste of smoked meat, I like eating the ribs without the barbecue sauce

Great place and a great owner. This was my first time here and I walked in and placed my order and the owner immediately engaged me in conversation. Being in the food business we had a lot to talk about. I got my order to go and it was out within just a few minutes. Took it back to my hotel. I had the brisket sandwich. The brisket was good. There sauce was awesome. And the sticky rice was awesome. I also ordered the loaded firebox fries and they were really good, I think they would have been even better had I eaten them there. Thanks for some great food will definitely go back.

First visit was excellent. Generous portion of rib tips, yummy smoked chicken wings and some of the most tender brisket around. We plan on coming back, often. The grand kids would also love the Mac and cheese. Collard greens were done right with just a hint of vinegar. Sweet potatoes nice and hot. The service was also very friendly. Not much to look at from the outside but they make up for it with the food. So good it took three wet naps to clean my hands and face. Now that is one measure of a good BBQ Joint.

If you haven’t enjoyed fine bbq meats with a side of sticky rice, you probably haven’t been to FireBox Deli. As a current Northside resident, I was pumped about this food addition. The space is cozy with no unnecessary frills aside from the sweet smell of bbq smoke that spins into your nostrils as you step inside… what else do you need? I usually order the ½ order of Beef Brisket or Rib Tips with a side of sticky rice or sweet potatoes. My husband is committed to the FireBox Fries — fries topped with bbq meat, cheese and bbq sauce. I’m not a bbq connoisseur but the test is easy for me — does the meat stand up on its own and is it tender? Firebox hits all marks and does it at a fair price point. Worth checking out!

Best bbq by far in Minneapolis. It’s funny because people will eat stuff like famous daves and feel content. Not only is this place good it’s one of he two bbq places in twin cities area that isn’t absolute trash. The other place being Big Daddy in St. Paul. Hats off. Hopefully being buried deep in the north side keeps the suburban lemmings from filling the joint. Keep this a city secret.

This place is amazing. I was searching for soul food and someone recommended this place. I’ll admit, when I walked in and saw the place was run by Asians, I didn’t think it’d be good. God forgive me for my silly thoughts… this food is entirely off the chain good. The Mac and cheese… yo the Mac and cheese in itself is enough to give this place 5 stars! They are clean. Staff is respectful. Food came out pretty quick. The only thing that makes me a bit uncomfortable is the parking situation… I can’t even call it a parking lot but really just a free for all park where ever you want :-/I don’t want my new car to get bumped or hit by someone who decides to park in a funky manner. Otherwise, great place!

This place is excellent. I’ve been serval times. While I think the pulled pork sandwich is my favorite, the brisket was also terrific. The bun is perfect! Takes 10 – 15 minutes to get the food, but it’s well worth the wait. Also, you can play old school videogames while you do so bring some quarters. Definitely get the Mac and Cheese for your side. If you’re with a group(or really hungry) you MUST get the Firebox Fries!

Hands down my favorite bbq spot so far in the Twin Cities! I’m not that into bbq food and I really enjoyed the food here and crave it from time to time. If you’re in the mood for bbq food, this is a must try.

Just take one step in the humble doors, take a deep breath, and with confidence know you’re going to enjoy your meal. So thankful for this addition to our neighborhood.

This place is the real deal. It reminds me of my visits to Austin and Dallas years back. I CRAVE brisket and theirs hits the spot. The Mac & Cheese is easily the best mac & cheese I’ve had. We got a half rack of ribs,½ pound of brisket, and a whole bunch of sides to go. We didn’t even get out of the parking lot before we were digging into the ribs. It’s a must try for BBQ fans.

I discovered this random hole in the wall while working in Minneapolis one day. It got amazing reviews on Unilocal, and I wanted to see if it lived up to it’s name and reviews. Man, two thumbs up! Definitely the best BBQ in MN, with an amazing tender beef brisket. Loved the Asian twist on a few of the menu items there. Serving size was perfect, customer service was spot on, and huge variety in the menu. Will definitely be back. Two thumbs up.

Wasn’t sure what to expect as this is a fairly new establishment(1 year come Labor day 2015) and the location is right off the freeway and by businesses but we had a coupon for it and some of the reviews I read seemed pretty good. I ordered pulled pork sandwich which came with 1 side, I picked cole slaw to add to the sandwich. Husband got the same but a dinner version. He also got slaw and fries. Everything was really good. Hot food was hot and slaw was cold and in a separate container so as not to run into the sandwich. Nice touch to avoid a soggy bun. There were only about a half dozen tables and the atmosphere was geared more for the take out business, which was brisk. Only complaint was a strange smell when we walked in. Kind of that old building smell, which it probably was, but it seemed to go away after a bit and didn’t distract from the food.

Just finished up lunch here with a couple of co-workers. I’ve had it book marked for a couple months now but BBQ generally isn’t my usual choice for lunch! Firstly, when you walk in, that smokey meat smell hits you! Mmm, I am a fan of smokey meat smells, so it instantly made me even hungrier. The menu is up in chalk on a huge chalk board behind the register. It’s a smaller place with only a handful of tables, but we had no problem snagging a table of 4. A lot of people came in and out doing take out. I’ve looked over the menu before and decided to go with the fries. Our food was brought out together quick enough. My co-worker, who also ordered the fries, had extra meat added on to his($ 3 upcharge), but instead of looking like mine with just a bunch more meat, he got more fries and meat, so the dish was significantly larger, not quite what he was expecting. The fries themselves were excellent. Just the right amount of meat and cheese and a bit of sweet bbq sauce all mixed in. It was a generous portion, even though I came in hungry I could only eat about ¾ of it! Definitely seems like a top notch place. I need to come back and bring the hubs, I’ve heard great thing about the brisket sandwich! Great find in N Mpls!

First time customer, I ordered the Beef Brisket sandwich(I got the large, with 5 oz of meat, vs the small with 3.5 oz). It comes with one side, I chose the Mac & Cheese. I selected sauce on thesandwich instead of on the side. Order took less than ten minutes, brisket came on thick toasted bread(like Texas Toast). The Mac & Cheese had this great crispy topping, tasted incredible, so I pretty much devoured that before biting into my sandwich.(I had ordered to go, but smelled so good, I just took a seat and ate it there). The meat on the sandwich was tender, sauce was delicious. It could have been a little juicier, though, so I’m giving them 4 stars. Was definitely better than 7 out of 10 bbq places I’ve been in the Twin Cities, though. I went on a Sunday afternoon, so I’ll return on a Friday night, see if a busier night changes things up in the kitchen. Definitely coming back for the Firebox Fries, those sounded bomb!
