I love this place. I’ve been going there for three years now, as I work downtown. The people who work there are super chill, friendly, and awesome(SUPERAWESOME). There’s this one guy who always has the biggest smile on his face, and seeing that always makes me break out into a huge smile myself. The pizza is cheap, hot, and delicious. AND did I mention free breadsticks on Mondays??? Can’t beat it. You’ve got my heart, Ginelli’s.

I skipped out of a session at my conference and walked through the skyway for my first time. I was hungry as I had skipped breakfast. They were open around 10 and had slices of breakfast pizza. I ordered a slice and asked for skyway directions to Macy’s. They have me directions and were real nice. The pizzas they serve during the day sounded good. I wish I would have come back instead of going to Dave’s Downtown. Oh well, next year. Based on the breakfast pizza slice, I’d return.

I was searching the skyway for food, and I try to go local when I can, so I stopped here. It was an average lunch spot, but it really excelled at customer service. While I was eating, a father and his toddler age son came in. Dad seemed out of his element, and the girl behind the counter was sooooo sweet. She helped him negotiate the drink selection, poured the bottle of apple juice into small cup with a straw for him, and then found a phone book for a make — shift booster seat. It made my whole lunch better :)

To some people pizza, is just saucy cheesy bread. To the group of co workers now known as «The Pizza Club» Ginellis is by far the best and most enjoyable pizza in the sky way, if not Minneapolis at large. The friendly folks behind the counter learn your name and take requests for your favorite pizza. We thank our lucky stars to have stumbled into this wonderful Minneapolis miracle every time we visit!

The bar for New York style pizza is incredibly low in the Twin Cities so this fresh Sbarro tier by the slice earns a 3⁄5.

I have to update my review for Ginelli’s after their years of faithful service and offer them five stars. This place is so user-friendly it’s just ridiculous. Ginelli’s is one of the few skyway lunch joints where you can eat for under $ 5. A slice and an order of breadsticks will fill you up and it’s dirt cheap. They also offer a loyalty punch card, which is another sign of their generosity. They have big ol’ water cups so you don’t need to pay for a drink, plus there are specials nearly every day. Their employees are really cool, and they stay open until like 5:30 unlike most skyway places that close at 2 or 3. Give ‘em a visit. Really soulful spot considering it’s based on cheap pizza. And by the way, this is nothing like NY-style pizza at all, so pay no mind to any comparisons to New York, Manhattan, or anything regarding the Empire state. It’s just average but very very pennywise pizza in a Minneapolis skyway rat tube.

Skyway food is skyway food. There are great lunch stops in downtown Minneapolis, but they’re sometimes hard to find(like getting lost in the maze of tunnels!!!). Everyone loves pizza, right???(if you don’t, stop reading and go away) I’ve worked in downtown Minneapolis for years and finally made my way to Ginelli’s for a few slices. I’m a loyal Andrea’s Pizza fan, I can’t help myself when it comes to their amazing pies. Pretty sure I’ll be cheating on them since I was introduced to Ginelli’s. For some, great za comes down to the sauce(I’m one of them). There’s just something in the tomato sauce at Ginelli’s that has me converting. I can’t put my finger on it, but it has a sweet, somewhat savory, but rich herb flavor. I don’t know! I got myself a slice of pepperoni/sausage and BBQ chicken(again, who hates BBQ chicken za?!). Amazing crust, chewy but baked with a crunchy exterior. Like I said, amazing sauce with plenty of toppings to create an amazing za lunch experience. Be sure to checkout the daily specials!!! Decent amount of seating(considering it’s a skyway joint).

As of now I’m rating this place as okay. Got a cheese slice, which was a decent size, not as big as my NY pizza, but still filling. I agree with the reviewers that it taste like(or at least very close to) NY style pizza, which I’m always going to think is the best. It had lots of cheese, the crust was crisp and the sauce definitely had the right touch of seasoning(I could taste the oregano). I also liked this place had garlic powder as an option which I don’t see often at pizza joints here. With that said my pizza was extremely salty. I’m not sure if it was the pizza or the garlic«powder» which may have actually been garlic salt. I’ll have to try it again without the garlic“thing”. Also while there I decided to take advantage of Wing Wednesday. I got six breaded wings and for an extra $ 1, six more with a side of hot sauce. These were also salty and not that great. Although they had a nice kick/spice, they were greasy, the breading was coming apart and they reminded my of Tysons chicken nuggets/tenders/wings(or a lesser quality). I’ll give this place another try and just do the pizza next time around. We’ll see if my rating changes.

Made my first trip to Ginelli’s today for a slice of tomato basil pizza. Slice was fresh and hot, topping were pretty good, and it was a huge slice for a good price. Hey, look at that, I’m a poet. I will definitely be back, especially to check out the free breadsticks on Mondays! Definitely recommend this spot as a great place for a slice in the skyway.

Great food, really hits the spot especially after a night on the town. But the service is not the friendliest, but thats the price you pay for good pizza.

Came here on a rare foray into DT Mpls. Wife used to work around here and was craving it, so we came here. I was looking for an awesome NY style pizza. Yes, this is absolutely the best NY style I’ve had in the Twin Cities, BUT it’s still not awesome. My search continues.

This was surprising good pizza for a office building tunnel eatery. It was very similar to the places in New York, although the crust was a little thicker than I remember. But’s its also cheaper than NYC. I paid 3.50 for a peperoni slice. The people were very nice. It was about noon when I was in the rat tubes above Minneapanoplace, and the little ruch of people kinda reminded me of Manhatten, without the cabbies or the polluted air.

Absolutely a solid slice. Ginelli’s does well on the dollars to donuts ratio, especially on Mondays when a side of breadsticks is free with the slice. It’s a Minnesotan approximation of NY-style. The crust is thicker and stiffer, the cheese and sauce more plentiful. When I worked nearby, I ate LOTS of Ginelli’s. The biggest standout is the Buffalo chicken pizza. The sauce has a good amount of punch, and the bleu cheese land mines detonate awesomeness in your mouth. The other stuff is pretty good, though not OMGAMAZINGEATTHISMEOW. Ginelli’s beats the heck out of most by-the-slice spots in the skyway, though they do not hold the crown — that belongs to Andrea. Still, there are many times where Andrea’s is just that bit too far out of reach, or those days where there is Buffalo chicken to be had. Or, for that matter, if you want delivery service. All in all, a very strong example of really good stuff to eat on the cheap in the skyway.

I came to Ginelli’s after surveying Unilocalers on where to find the best NY-Style pizza in the Twin Cities. I was pleasantly surprised, but not wowed into a 5-star rating. I ordered a special slice of the day– Buffalo chicken pizza! I used to live in Buffalo, NY, so this was a special treat. They do their Buffalo pizza RIGHT. It was deliciously hot-saucy but not drippy, and the chicken was tasty. I didn’t like that there was so much onion on it, tho– not necessary. The crust was delish and foldable, too. I also ordered a side salad. It was a plain ol’ side salad with iceberg lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and some cheese. I don’t know what it was, but it was– maybe the perfect temperature of the cooler in which it was stored– but I loved this little side salad. The lettuce was fresh and crisp and delightful. I will definitely walk across downtown for this pizza again. I can’t give it 5 stars, because the pizza lacked a little je né sais pa to be true NY style. But it comes darn close!

My favorite Pizza place in the Twin Cities. If you work anywhere near the TCF Tower in downtown Minneapolis there is no excuse for not going to Ginelli’s for lunch on Mondays when they offer free bread sticks. Compared to other skyway eateries Ginelli’s prices are unbeatable, at $ 3.25 a slice for Pepperoni or Sausage or $ 3.50 for Pepperoni & Sausage its easily one of the most affordable lunch options available. Beyond that Ginelli’s offers daily specials, including free bread sticks on Mondays. The staff are all incredibly friendly and at least during the lunch rush the Pizza is almost always fresh out of the oven.

I am, right at this moment, eating the best slice of tomato basil pizza I have ever had in my life, no lie. I’ve had a lot of pizza from Ginelli’s before, but this is amazing. The crust is perfect — crunchy, chewy, gigantic. I might have to walk back over and get another one. Yum. The service is always fabulous. The breadsticks are heaven. Best pizza in the Skyway, hands down.

So when you’re on the run in the skyway, and you smell pizza, so you buy a piece, throw it in a to-go bag, take it back to your desk and bite in, and nearly think you’ve arrived in an outer circle of heaven… you’ve been to Ginelli’s. These people can make pizza. Chicken bacon ranch is hands down the way God intended great pizza to taste. If you hit it up between 12 – 1230, don’t crab about the line. Stand in back like everyone else and wait for your piece of heaven — and all you need to bring is a five spot.

I haven’t been here for a few years, the last time I tried the 8th ave place told me the 34th had closed. I have been in mourning since. I have my favorites in St. Paul, but nothing compares to this place. It is the only place comparable to NY pizza. I appreciated it being here so much I used to stop by Scandia bakery first to pick the staff up cookies. Nuff said!

By far, this is the best slice you’ll find downtown in the Minneapolis skyway. A slice of cheese is $ 2.60. Add some extra garbage and it’s a bit more but still reasonable, especially since each slice is the size of your head. Grab a seat near the register and chances are good you’ll get a free show because all the pizzas are hand-tossed on spot. Good sauce, real cheese and it’s one of the *only* skyway restaurants that’s actually open and still hopping at the dinner hour. Blot it. Fold it. Bite down and hear your arteries cry out in despair. Blisssssssss. Thank heaven I don’t live in their delivery sphere. I’d stop cooking. Cash poor? If you plan on paying with plastic, make sure your tab is over $ 4. They charge an extra $ 0.25 for transactions that don’t meet the mark.

When I moved to the twin cities a few years back, I was confused by the lack of good pizza options. I was told by friends that Pizza Luce and Davanni’s were the best in town. Don’t get me wrong, they both are delicious, but if you are looking for new york style pizza, you aren’t going to find it there. Davanni’s might offer something they describe as «New York Traditional», it was a far cry from real stuff. Luckily, one day, while throwing away junk mail, one of the mailers had a Ginelli’s Pizza coupon on the outside. I was hungry, and sick of the other pizza options so I called them up for delivery. Ginelli’s Pizza makes the perfect greasy new york style pie with the real mozzarella and hand-tossed crusts. I have ordered from them many times since that fateful day(when my arteries can take it) and they have always provided courteous and prompt delivery. The only caveat I have here is that they have odd hours on weekends: Sat 4:30PM-2AM and Sun 4PM-10PM. If you feel like your life is missing good greasy new york pizza, this place is for you!
