While it is kind of cute and quaint … the lady charged me more at the counter, almost as if she was sizing me up and thinking on each purchase like: «I bet he would pay a little more for these items.» Instead of haggling with her for the dime or more she was adding to each purchase, I thought I’d passively aggressively post this review on Unilocal in true blooded Minnesota fashion. It is a cute little corner, I must say, but with all of the fantastic little shops and such in that area, I do not predict it being around that much longer unless they value honesty a little more than I experienced.

Well, this is my first ever review so don’t even bother reading it. Unless you want to hear why a 12 year old is giving this shop a block away from him a not so good rating. I go here a LOT, but only because sometimes I want a soda. Like the time when I brought 80¢ but tax made it 5 cents more, and the women at the cash register rudely taught me how to add. Frankly, I think I know more 10th grade math than her, but I decided not to point out the one with a low paying job in their middle age. The most recent memory of them is when I went to get some vegetable oil, and when I asked her where they kept their vegetable oil without talking the cashier pointed to the top shelf. So I picked out the least expensive one and brought it over to the counter. She picks it up and looks at it closely, then gives me my change back. When I show my dad and give him the change he tells me what I bought was«shortening». Then he himself goes back to the store and the woman says to him«Well it’s the same thing if you cook it down(or something)». What a shitty excuse, and no apology! And she knew it was different because she saw it when I gave her the change. I haven’t seen a worse cashier in my life.

Third time shopping there and it will be my last. The selection is terrible and expensive. No big deal except that the lady who works there is incredibly rude and crabby. Not just to me but I’ve seen her be that way to others. Avoid.

It’s so close which makes it so disappointing. The staff are rude, they try to enforce a 5 $ minimum credit card charge limit(this is against their agreement with the credit ca companies), and they just don’t offer anything special. I miss ron’s market.

As I walked the aisles, I was blown away to see barely any items that were fresh and lacked excess processing and packaging. The woman was completely unhelpful and acted like it was an inconvenience for me to shop in her store. From the street, I envisioned a farmers market feel; bushel baskets of veggies that were slightly imperfect and fresh deli items that might be a bit more expensive but worth it due to local & premium ingredients, and interesting nibbles and treats. Seeing a bunch of canned items on slimly stocked shelves certainly surprised me. How this place has anything over a 2 start rating blows my mind. Just go to Kowalski’s or Lunds. Hell, even a Super America would offer a better selection of organic goods.

I stopped into this tiny grocery store as I was passing by yesterday. With a name like«Green Grocer» I had high hopes for unusual organic and vegetarian products. No dice. They didn’t even have a single package of veggie burgers! What they did have could be purchased at any regular grocery store for a fraction of the cost. Since the store is extremely small, I assumed the employees would be familiar with their inventory — no dice on that count either. I can’t imagine how this place remains in business with such a small, uninteresting selection. I won’t be going back.

I consistently get horrible customer service at this place. Today, after I gave the cashier cash for my bill, I realized I had the exact change in my pocket and asked if I could give her that so I could get an even dollar back. She wouldn’t do it, because she was«already getting my change,» which by the way was in the form of eight dimes, even though I saw the drawer was full of quarters. Unbelievable. It may not seem like that big a deal, but imagine little things like this happening every time you go there and it quickly adds up. I’ve never written an online review for a business, but the service here made me so angry I was motivated to write my first. I hate to do it because in general I love supporting the small local place I can walk to instead of the big chain I have to drive to, but Guse successfully drove away this willing and eager customer.

As a neighbor of Guse Green Grocer and a late night food craver I am a big fan/shopper of the store. What I love about this store is the management took the average corner store market and elevated it to a healthier, more organic and locally produced store. The store is full of the freshest produce and breads, but to be honest my biggest purchases are the frozen raspberries, canned tuna fish, and ben & jerry’s ice cream. While this store can not replace the mega grocery store due to its low volume of supply and higher prices, it is definitely the perfect corner family-run store. If you are in the neighborhood please stop by and help support this amazing store!

Great store, they try to keep it local and green to its roots. If they use as much class in running this store as they do the hardware store it will be great and be around for a long time. I love that they carry the Rustica bread, nothing against Java Jacks bit I love Rustica bread and I can now get it right after church without a side trip every sunday. Very nice clean bright store.

Guse Green Grocer is still so new that some of the shelves are empty, so I may come back and revise this review later. They’re off to a great start. Their deli soups and sandwiches are wonderful, and they have Izze pop and Hank’s root beer(I love pop, but I can’t have sodium benzoate, so this is a BIGDEAL to me). It’s so nice to have a place like this in our neighborhood.
