A truly creative restaurant that blends classic fare with artistic interpretations. They have a brunch on weekends featuring a different hash each time. The«Market Hash» is not just standard corned beef and potatoes, either: it’s whatever creative combination the chef thinks of, heading into the weekend. It isn’t pretentious but, rather, solid, good, filling, and different. The hash they served on my first visit had the spice of poblano peppers and the snap of fresh bok choy. Two poached eggs finished the dish, perfectly. As an appetizer, I got a small plate of bacon-and-apple beignes. These are rare(they only make them periodically; usually, the weekend brunches feature pecan caramel rolls) but any sweet starter is worth it. They were so light, so airy, it was like tasting a cloud! And, on top of it all, they were just slightly sweet. A perfect bite! Seriously: these are the best beignes I’ve ever had and that includes in the South! The ambiance is nice with tons of local artist paintings that change every now and then. The food is amazing and the prices are a value for what you get! I’ll definitely be returning … this is my favorite restaurant!

There was a 40 minute wait for Saturday brunch and it was certainly worth it! Coffee was great, caramel roll was to die for, French toast was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Bacon was phenomenal. Service was pleasant and fast. No complaints here — I’d definitely go back!

Went out for brunch today, which is QUITE the luxury, being in the service industry and all, so I had to make it count. Waited a good half hour(4 top at 11:15, pretty typical for a place with a solid brunch) and after that, it was all smooth sailing. Our server was quick and on point(as were we; the hangries were setting in so we knew what we wanted pretty much right away) and the food came out within 10 minutes. A round of mimosas, a friend and I split the eggs Benedict and the PB&J french toast(a special of the day). my boyfriend got the ham & cheese omelette, and our other friend got the hash. Everything was freakin insanely tasty, and that’s no where near an exaggeration. The potatoes that came with my boyfriend’s omelette were the absolute BEST and Hollandaise sauce on the bennies out of this world. We will definitely be hittin up Hazel’s again!

I went there for late lunch. I wanted to have waffles but I didn’t know that the brunch menu is only for weekends. I had quiche, it was crabs and potatoes, it was not so good, because it was kind of smelly. But my boyfriend had a burger, it was very good. The bunds were like croissant, the texture was really good in my mouth.

This looks promising, but Hazel’s didn’t pull it off for me. Interesting, brief menu. Sloppy cooking and blasé presentation. Uncomfortable seating to boot.

A cozy little neighborhood spot serving up delicious comforting dishes. Where else can you go that has Swedish Meatballs and mashed potatoes?! Great select of local brews, perfect for trying. Definitely a must stop when in NE!

I’ve been trying to get to Hazels for about a year now. I finally got my butt out of bed and was there by 10:30. There was a 30 minute wait, which I knew was going to happen because I’m so lazy on the weekends! My roommate and I HAD to split the caramel roll. It was amazing. It was super warm and gooey. Splitting it was the perfect amount. My roommate and I each got an order of the Brunch Burger. I was very intrigued by the horseradish and chive cheese. The burger was amazing, and it was served on a croissant bun! The cheese was really good and creamy and the bacon was thick and fried just the way I like it. Our server was awesome. She was very friendly and super attentive. I drink a ton of water and coffee and she was always there refilling out cups. We will definitely be back, and I really want to try their dinner menu! I wouldn’t recommend going in any groups bigger than 5. Its a very small restaurant and you will have to wait at least 45 minutes, unless you are extremely lucky!

Get the meat waffle. Don’t eat meat? You do now! Make it extra crazy with over easy eggs on the top and then go home and take a four hour nap thanks to your carb fest and thank me later.

We came here twice in two days. And I would gladly eat breakfast here daily for the rest of my life. Hazel’s is a rare trifecta of great food, service, and atmosphere. Not that it’s fancy. The menu is straight-ahead diner, but with a twist. Hippie cakes are no gimmick. Topped with tart berries, they’re already eye-opening, but addition of granola sends them into the stratosphere. And don’t get me started with the bean cakes: How can anything with such a plain-Jane name be so addictive? Throw a perfectly poached egg on top, and they’re veggie heaven. Our servers were easygoing and attentive, and the décor is cozy, with a off-kilter sense of humor.(Like: On both visits, we were seated near a beautifully framed painting of what appeared to be a kraken. Or was it a giant squid? Anyway.) A memorable option for comfort food.

We had hippie cake which was delicious, and also omlette which had a perfect hashbrown. There’s nothing really special about the food here except their fast service and good food, not special. The portions are also not that big to share with another person but enough for one!

Hazel’s Northeast is one of the best dinners in America hands down…. Make sure you try the«waffle with meat»… It’s not on the menu, it’s too die for. Since I been in town for months Hazel’s is the only spot I’ve gone back too… …

This place is really good. It has a warm cozy atmosphere and feels like youre at home but not haha. I ordered the rissoto of the day. It had pork, tomatos and some other things in it. So good. My boyfriend got one of the burgers and it was alright but he really liked it! I would definetly come back :)

Hazel’s has been our semi regular breakfast and dinner spot for about 5 years now. It has never disappointed. Breakfast is wonderful. I would say it’s a perfect place to start your day when you’re looking for a bit of a change from the standard breakfast places serving eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast. Yes, they have those standards and they are very good. Hash browns are excellent actually. Crispy, browned, and buttery. Chicken fried steak for breakfast is also excellent, a bit heavy, but excellent. I’m usually not a sweet breakfast kinda guy, love my savories to start the day, but when I tried the Hippie Cakes, I was absolutely hooked. Granola throughout the cake that gives it such great texture and flavor. The berry compote is just a perfect topping as is the real whipped cream. No Cool Whip here folks. Biscuits and gravy, oh my god. That sausage gravy is so creamy and filled with big pieces of tender sausage. So, so good. The same gravy they put on the chicken fried steak. You know, in case you want to just cash it in and sign up for the bypass surgery now. Who cares, it’s worth it. As much as we love breakfast, dinner time can be just as good if not better. Most of the time I will trust the chef and go with whatever special of the night he’s serving. Always inventive, and always tasty as hell. Every pasta dish I’ve had has been spot on. Any type of Stroganoff is delicious. Phở soups delicious. Traveler sandwich delicious. Deep fried pickles delicious. You get the idea. Overall, prices are very reasonable. $ 9 for those Hippie Cakes is a steal. Kids meals are also well priced and my kids love them, especially the homemade cookie. Atmosphere is comfy and inviting. Darker woods and cozy. Fits that NE Mpls neighborhood vibe just perfectly. I would say that Hazel’s is that small, chef driven gem that’s nowhere near pretentious and has just really good, really well thought out food.

This place gets busy early for brunch, so make sure you plan to wait a bit. We have been here twice for brunch. The first time was better than the second, which was so-so.

Wow, wow! I love this restaurant. The food is great and worth the wait. My husband and I have been here twice and each time the food was so delicious and right on time. I never felt like I waited to long or the food was over priced. My favorite is the Eggs Benedict. Yummy!

Hazel’s was adorable. I don’t think that really surprises anyone given the hype. I brought my little brother and sister here over the weekend and good news! Super kid friendly. There were inexpensive options for kids for both breakfast and lunch that were sized adequately. Plus, caramel rolls. What kind of parent(or awesome older sister) doesn’t want to scrub caramel out of their child’s hair for the rest of the day? Forrealthough. Those buns were absurd. So delicious. DEFINITELYSHARINGSIZE. I ordered the black bean cakes. They were very interesting. I didn’t know how I’d feel about black beans and eggs with a citrus vinaigrette greens salad, but it worked. A great little(actually huge) protein-packed pick-me-up with a sense of freshness. My boyfriend got the drunken bananas French Toast. It’s good, but it’s VERY decadent. In other news, mimosas. Holla!

Sunday brunch, Wow! At least a 45 minute wait. I had the breakfast burger and my companion had the buffalo sandwich after a flop with the vegetarian omelette(so much goat cheese, which she’s not a fan of). I have to say that our server was very short with us. She made a snide remark about us leaving because people had been waiting for an hour. There was a reason for the longer stay and I had wanted to order lunch to go but we decided to cut our trip short. TL/DR: Food was great; service was shitty.

Don’t even know where to start. Been here twice, and I haven’t found a bad thing yet. Try the caramel roll… incredible. Try the drunken banana french toast… but you gotta be able to handle sweet. It’s VERY sweet. MEATWAFFLE!!!(YEAH!!!) Had the pork belly when it was on special… out of this world! Brisket hash… will definitely get this again… and again… and again… This place is arguably one of the top places in the twin cities for breakfast.

If Hazel’s NE isn’t one of the top ten breakfast venues in the country, it should be! From the moment you walk through the door and greeted by the friendly staff, offering you an amazing cup off coffee while you wait, until you leave with a full belly and a smile on your face, you’ll know why the overwhelmingly positive reviews are so well deserved! We lucked out and had only about a 15 – 20 minute wait on a crisp fall Saturday morning where some kind-hearted diner ahead of us had started a «pay it forward» trend of treating a fellow diner to a fresh, hot, gooey caramel roll! Talk about making us feel welcome!!! Thank you mystery roll giver for the sinfully delicious treat! The afore mentioned caramel roll is to die for, the biscuits and sausage gravy, incredible, the hash browns, insane, and the meat waffle? Don’t even get me started! Phenomenal breakfast, start to finish! You’ll be glad you waited!!!

Brunch, bitches. Do it. We waited for about 20 minutes for a table here and I can’t say I minded the wait because I was expecting something closer to 40+. The staff were lively and attentive blah blah blah… The food, the mimosas, and the coffee. that’s really why you’re reading the reviews. The food was spot on. I crave a broad variety of things when I’m doing brunch and this menu caters to all the wacky taste buds shooting impulses to my brain. On this particular day, I was craving fresh, sweet and good old fashioned breakfast-y egg-bliss. I got every bit of that with the spinach and brie crêpe with fruit chutney on top. I smeared some jam for a bit of extra sweet in every bite and the mouth-gasms began. Just the thought of the combo makes Sam gag, but I could have sold him on a variety of other options they had available. including the biscuits and gravy, which is what my friend ordered. Let’s face it, if you suck at making a good sausage gravy then that biscuit could be made out of Jesus pubes and gold flakes and it still wouldn’t make the dish edible. The gravy, on the other hand, can work wonders for saving a bad biscuit. This gravy is what sausage gravy should be, and I hate to say it but it blows that of my other favorite breakfast spot(Louisiana café) so far out of the water, I wish it would blow it off their menu. The gravy at Hazel’s is concentrated with rich and creamy flavor without being overbearing. The biscuit was soft and complimentary; the eggs done just right; the hash browns were perfect. This plate is a hearty and homey plate of love. The mimosas weren’t on the menu so we questioned the waitress, who was more than happy to sell us some booze(my kind of girl). They were tart and strong. Now, I’m a regular drinker and to me, nothing makes brunch more fun than sipping on coffee and a mimosa with your meal. but this ‘mosa was so strong that I literally had to pass it off to my friend so that I could still be sober cab. That’s right… I gave away my booze. *Shock!* *Awe!* The coffee was rich and tasty and not the slightest bit burnt. We let our waitress know that we kill thousands of sugar cane fields and creamer cows each year for our coffee habit and she kept our stock of condiments full the entire time. I can’t say one bad things about Hazel’s Northeast. Scared of the wait? Suck it up princess, or you’re going to miss out.
