Simple, accessible, priced right, good food! The menus’s not extensive and you will find a minimum of ingredients that you have to ask what they are, which I find refreshing. Not pretentious but not lame. Easygoing fulfillment.

It was a great night to sit out and enjoy great burgers. Wonderful service. Nice neighborhood hangout.

I was looking forward to trying the Sheridan Room. Love neighborhood and loved the Modern and was glad something opened in that space. But our experience was mediocre. Cocktails were delicious, as was the roasted corn salad. The beer can chicken was good, but certainly nothing remarkable, and the baked beans were underdone(just no). The real snag, though, was the service. It was slow, even though the dining room was half empty when we arrived. Our cocktails arrived well after the salad, there was a long gap between the salad and the entrée, she kind of just plopped the chicken down with no explanation of which sauce was which, she checked on us once after that, long after we’d finished eating, etc. It was odd. She wasn’t overtly unpleasant but did seem vaguely annoyed that we … were there. I’m willing to give it a second try, as anyone can have an off night. It’s a also a relatively new place. But they need to bring their service up. And bake those beans all the way.

Been there twice. Both times under impressed. The biscuit weighed 1.5 kilos and could last a person three days in the Boundary waters. The veggie omelet consisted of spinach, mushrooms and some sort of sour cheese. The best thing this place has going for them is the black coffee… Atmosphere and service is good but the menu needs fine tuning. One star

Modern + Healthy + Seriously Yummy. I came for Brunch this past Saturday. Their brunch menu has about a dozen options and all were delicious. I was part of a group and got a chance to taste several different things on the menu but the best by FAR was the salmon scramble. The salmon was smoked and it was topped with fresh dill. It might have been the best eggs I ever had! My entire group of 6 people(including a 8 year old girl) raved about the food. I can’t wait to go back!!!

This. Is. About. How. Quick. The. Service. Is. At. The. Sheridan. Room. But. I. Still. Kinda. Like. The. Place. And. People. Just. Don’t. Be. In. A. Hurry. When. You. Go. The. Sense. Of. Urgency. May. Be. Absent. But. The. Service. Is. Endearing. And. The. Food. Remains. Delicious.

Ordered the corned beef hash. It was good but there was like No corned beef in it. Kind of in a ridiculous way. The server could not have given less of a shit when I politely told him.

I love this place and it is a welcome change for the revived neighborhood that I have lived in most of my life. It’s nice to be able to walk to a local place, get a delicious meal with vegetarian options and a snappy cocktail. They have an excellent grilled cheese with apple slices, sweet potato & greens, and the mushroom veggie sandwich is also great. At Brunch, I like the breakfast nachos, the berry french toast and the frittata. The Wander Sheridan is one of their signature cocktails and is light, tart and refreshing. I suspect it will be a summertime favorite. Oh, and once when I was there, they were serving blood orange mimosas with pop-rocks as rimmers on the glass — fun and expected. The booths are solid wooden structures, which provide for more private dining experience. Of course, you can always sit in the bar if you want something more open feeling. It feels different than all the other places in the neighborhood, so it adds a vibe to the mix. It’s not bar food(there’s plenty of that), it’s not blue-collar food(you can find that too), it’s not a steak house(we have those) and it’s not a coffee shop. It’s a perfect little quirky jewel in Sheridan.

Went here for dinner for the first time yesterday. I am so excited about this new spot in NE. I was a little hesitant at first, especially with some not so good reviews. When you walk in, it’s very dim, the bar seating is separate from the dining room. We sat in the bar area. All along the wall are large chalkboards with their menu and drink specials. They have a full bar — YES! And they have lots of local brews in cans. Their menu is interesting but not at all confusing as one of the reviews mentioned. You choose a protein(they have beer can chicken, market fish, and so on). Then they have the sides, separately priced. However, they have some awesome deals of getting a meat with a couple sides and a sauce for a certain amount. I loved this! We went nuts and ordered the beet salad, half chicken, brussel sprouts, kale with anchovies and the market fish, which happened to be salmon. It was all fantastic. I especially liked the beet salad, kale and salmon. The brussel sprouts were a little too raw for my liking. Really great service, I am excited to go back and try more.

One of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time. It was over an hour wait for our food during a not busy morning. It was 20 minutes just to get tea. The portions are tiny. My husband’s omelet was no bigger than a cell phone and was $ 8. The server forgot the jam for his toast too. My corned beef hash had very little meat in it.

Visiting from Southern California. WOW. This place blew us away. Great vibe, wonderful service, drinks were delicious and the food was ‘out of this world’ amazing! Our drink of choice was the greyhound — fresh squeezed(yes, we saw him do it) grapefruit and vodka. Perfect. Then we ordered the Sheridan Burger and the grilled romain heart salad. DAMN. The gorgeous plating was only topped by the quality and taste of the food. We highly recommend this place. If we were living here this would definitely be a spot we frequent. Compliments to the chef and thank you to the staff. Wonderful experience.

I miss the Modern Café. Great local place in the neighborhood. So wanted this restaurant to be just as good. Started with drinks, including barrel aged Old Fashioned and ENE — pretty good but service was slow. No tap beers, but a decent selection of cans/bottles and good wine list. Got the pretzel, this was not good. The pretzel was dry and doughy. «Cheese» sauce tasted a lot like an orange roux — no cheese, all gummy flour. The idea of a plate and 2 sides is a good idea. I got the pork chop and it’s predominant flavor was salt. Sides were OK, applesauce was a good complement to the pork chop. The kale was salty too, but I guess what would you expect when there are anchovies and capers? Wild rice toast with mirepoix and gruyère was also predominantly salty. The gruyère was not melted, kind of like a poker chip on top of the whole toast. Wife got fish sandwich — nothing special. Fish down the block at Anchor Fish and Chips far superior. Also, they«ran out» of desserts! At about 7PM. And only half full. So — service slow, food preparation pretty sub par, not a full menu — no dessert. May give it a little more time to see if the kitchen and service can straighten out, but right now, nothing worth going out of the way for.

I wish I could give half stars because I would give Sheridan Room 3.5 stars. It is a fine restaurant. Nothing glaringly wrong with anything about it but it just wasn’t great. The menu is kind of odd. You pick a nondescript protein(chicken, steak, chicken, fish), a sauce, and 2 sides. They also have sandwiches. I had the beer can chicken and it was fine. Moist, good flavor but nothing amazing. I had the beets with crème fraîche. Again, they were good but just not that flavorful. I also had the mac and cheese. Kind of bland and dry. My friend had the burger and that was wonderful. Gruyère! Yes! The service was great, nothing to complain about there. The atmosphere is odd… very austere, like a cafeteria… or soviet Russia. The lighting is off, Too bright at some tables, too dim at others. I just didn’t feel comfortable. Oddly enough, their wine list is fantastic. Affordable but amazing picks. One of the best I have seen. I would stop by again but probably only for the wine and maybe a quick snack of I was in the area.

Going here just made me miss the Modern Café. We went here for breakfast and we ordered the pancake breakfast and a cheese omelet. Pretty standard, nothing fancy. It took over 50 minutes to get our order. When it arrived the eggs were cold and the sausage from the pancake breakfast tasted like it had been cooked in a microwave. Also they only had one server on to take care of a full restaurant. Not impressed. Will not be going back. The server did take some money off the bill, but honestly I would have been happy to wait and pay full price if the food had been good.

You know when your heart wants to love so badly? ugh I want to like it ugh the concept and everything seems so solid but it is not ugh I have eaten there twice. The first time, we had a undercooked salmon hiccup that was handled well, all things considered. However, the real issue is that the food here takes FOREVER. Same for the second time, a really-really-really long wait for our dinner. And the food wasn’t consistent from the first time to the second. The pretzel sauce was totally diff the second time — huh? You guys realize this is a restaurant, right? Like, I want to have some consistency. You’ve been open long enough. Iron the kinks: The competition out there is fierce. As I read the other reviews, it seems like they need to get the kitchen situation figured out. Plus, the second time, the pork chop was almost all fat. I cut out 7 bites. That’s it. The rest was fat — and for a sorta-expensive meal, that’s not cool. Full bar, good servers, and nicely done atmosphere. Sauces are good, dig the vinyl playing at the bar, and the cocktails are good. Nice wine list. I’m going to do a sandwich next time.

I came here for dinner before a burlesque show a few weeks back. I like the concept. There are big, full meal plates as well as small plates that you can easily build a dinner around. I would come back just for the salad. They did a grilled Caesar that was the bomb. I never would have thought about grilling lettuce but it works! SO good. On the other hand the mac and cheese was disappointing. I feel like if you are going to put mac and cheese on a menu in this city you better be damn sure it is stellar. We have an abundance of great mac and cheese in this city. Theirs was underwhelming. Not bad. Just forgettable. And too bitter. Like they used too much sharp cheese and not enough rich and creamy cheese. They need to play with that recipe a bit. Cocktail program is good. i love that they have cocktails on tap. Great beer selection. Full bar. My only other complaint is that the space is REALLY dark. It was dark when I walked in but then they lowered the lights even further. I have pretty good eye sight but my eyes were strained trying to read the menu and see my dinning companion.

NEMPLS ! ! Get excited, you now have a GREATNEW Eatery! Get the house made pretzel for your starter, it’s ridiculously delicious. The concept is family style sharing– Bauhaus Wonderstuff Beer Can Chicken, whole or half? No way, yup! Some of the best breakfast in NE! I’m glad I live on this side of the river! Ps. Bring in your vinyl records, they will be played on their rad record player! BOOM!

Welcome to the neighborhood! This is a fantastic new restaurant in NE. We stopped by around 1pm for a brunch date on a Sunday, and were seated immediately. The service was exceptional, and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Simple and great brunch menu, including fun drinks. We’ll be back!

I Dined here Friday night around 6pm. The place had filled up pretty good so there was a lot of curious folks wanting to try this place out. First impressions. Kind of awkward… the dining room is separated from the bar which is nice for the noise but the way they have the booths laid out its like I’m at work eating in my cubicle. The smell of stain is still in the air which was mildly annoying. The lights kept flickering dimly so it was like I was in a horror movie waiting to get attacked. The Service. While our hostess and server were very nice; it was bordering on being painfully slow. They apologized about the wait so that is good they at least recognized it. It took 15 – 20 minutes before we received our drinks. The Food. Meh. I’m getting severely annoyed with every restaurant around town charging 13 – 15 bucks for sandwiches just because another restaurant charges those prices(ones that do it a hell of a lot better I might add). We got the burger which sounded absolutely delicious on the menu, the walleye sandwich, the grilled cheese and the ruben. The ruben and the grilled cheese were very tasty and were the clear winners here. The burger ordered med rare came out well done. I let the server know but after waiting for our food I wasn’t going to send it back. I wouldn’t pay 5 dollars for this abomination let alone 13. Avoid the small hockey puck here at all cost. The fries that came with the meal were okay… If you were to compare this place as far as sandwiches and fries go you’re far better of going to the other local restaurants in the immediate area. Pick one and they do better. While this place did nothing to win me over, I may give them another shot to impress me with their entrees… which are on the spendy side. 30 bucks for a beer can chicken and two sides… yikes! Prices too high, portions too small. Try again.

I cannot recommend this place enough. Me and my girlfriend walked past this place on their opening night. I could not have been more happy to see them open even before we walked in. When the food came though… Holy shit. I got the Ruben, best ruben I have had in years, gf got the hand pie(this is a daily special and it was a chicken pot pie) and a side order of Brussel sprouts, both were exceptional. They have small batch craft cocktails in a keg, a small selection of hand made cocktails all are great. I had the barrel aged old-fashioned, aged in a barrel behind the bar, it was fantastic. I also got the East Northeast, also fantastic. Gf got the the amaretto stone sour, I never though a sour could be this good, and small batch vodka cocktail on tap made with 11 Wells vodka that was great. No tap beer but a huge selection of bottles/cans with a focus on locals. Our server said they will offer breakfast starting at 8am everyday starting in a week.
