This was the closest library available to me for an entire year when I lived near the Metrodome since the Downtown library was under construction. The library reconstruction couldn’t have came at a better time because if Downtown had been open no one woulda ever gotten me over to this stretch of Franklin Avenue. Much to my shock was that there was actually something nice over here, and 11th Avenue South to the area surrounding the library is not that bad of an area. This is one of the oldest libraries in the city, and is of a style I’ve not seen of any other library in Minneapolis. It had undergone restoration just before I discovered it so the building has had some updates and it’s historical elements are in good shape. The major downside to this library is that there isn’t any unique offerings other than the experience of reading in a vintage atmosphere. It can also get kinda crowded at times, with loud kids. Why o Why are there no longer those old librarian ladies who would tell you to be quiet and whisper? I usually go to the Downtown or Pierre Bottineau Library’s for these reasons but still enjoy an occasional visit to this one.

Wow, noone has reviewed the Library? Well, it’s spectacular. The atrium is amazing, and there are so many neat sitting areas, and comfy chairs. The layout is logical, and the library has such a pleasant atmosphere to it.
