Ok, this place really only deserves 4 stars, but I have always had extremely positive experiences, so I wanted to offset the very-vocal dissenters a bit. I have to be honest: I’m truly shocked at how horrible the reviews are for this place. I’ve lived in this neighborhood for over five years, and I’ve patronized this place the whole time. Both delivery, and in person. I have never had any of the shitty experiences that these people have had. Granted, it’s never been *culinary euphoric ecstasy*, but it’s fast-food, for chrissakes. And for fast food, it’s pretty damn decent. The quality has always been exactly the same as any other location, and the service has always been somewhere between normal and GREAT. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m a regular, and I’m always friendly, and I always tip a reasonable amount. Maybe all the reviewers are assholes. Maybe people never bother leaving reviews for fast food joints unless they’re really pissed off. I have no idea, but I do know one thing: This location definitely does NOT deserve the bad rap that this Unilocal profile gives it…

I love jimmy johns, but I won’t go back to this location. The bread was so stale that I didn’t even want to finish the sandwich.

I go to this Jimmy John’s 3 – 4 times per week and I just left there a few minutes ago with the wrong sandwich. I didn’t realize this until I got home so I called back in to notify the staff of the problem and the person on the phone basically said he didn’t care and then he asked the manager who also said he didn’t care and nothing could be done and then I got hung up on. Thanks JJ’s.

As I sit here choosing the location to bite my sandwich so all the shit doesn’t slide out of my mayo drenched 8″ piece of shit, I have made up my mind for the last time. I am never going to Jimmy Johns again and especially this location. Sure every time I go in here all the employees look like they’d rather be in a hot bath tub with their wrist wide open. But tonight I walk in a stare at the board of shit and try as hard as I can to figure out what I want. Then all of a sudden the dude says loudly«CMONMANNNNN» like he had something more important to do. Then decides to tell the person making the sandwich to put spicy Dijon on my sandwich… I was the only one in there and nothing was said anywhere in the store even about mustard. Then they slam my sandwich together and hand it to me. As I ask for a bag the dude slams the bag on the counter like he was killing a roach. And the whole time he had the stupidest grin on his face. Granted every time I go in to this spot it’s pretty uncomfortable and just plain annoying, but this is my last time eating a warm jimmy johns sandwich!

I love Jimmy John’s sandwiches, but this location has terrible service. The customer seems like an inconvenience to the staff while ordering. The last time I was in, two of the three employees behind the counter were on their cellphones(including an employee on a personal call right next to where you pick up your sandwich). I loved going there, because it’s 2 blocks from my apartment, but I am done with this location. I’d rather go get a sad sandwich at Subway.

I live nearby and reluctantly go here whenever I need a quick bite. The service has never been fast or even pleasant. I can only assume it’s not a good place to work and I wish employees luck with their job searches. Today, I walked in and noticed the woman who eventually made my sandwich putting away a broom and dust pan. She rang me up then proceeded to put on gloves to make my sandwich. I kindly asked her if she could wash her hands which was met with a roll of the eyes and«well, I’m using gloves.» Does she really think touching clean gloves with dirty hands protects MYFOOD against her dirty hands? If any JJ managers are paying attention, please review FDA recommendations and inform your staff accordingly.

So, I was in the area volunteering and hungry about a week ago. Jimmy Johns is supposed to be fast, so I ordered a #9 Italian Club for delivery. 2 and one half hours later I get my sandwich. The store claimed their driver was hit by a taxi cab. Also, once opening my sandwich it was clear they did not bother making me a new one, it was a soggy mess and not as fresh as it should have been which makes sense considering it took 2.5 hours to get to me and was allegedly involved in an accident. The Manager, or someone, included a free sub card that apparently is not good for the sub I purchased which I found out today when I tried to use it… I will not be returning.

I order less than a mile from here. It is the absolute slowest delivery ever. Plan on your sub arriving 1 hour from order confirmation.

This particular location specializes in mayonnaise sandwiches, regardless of what you order. *side eye from hell* I’ve ordered from here 4 times, and the place is villainously terrible from top to bottom. Not a single time has a sandwich arrived promptly, and each time the sandwich has been borderline inedible. I’ve contemplated giving up drinking so I won’t resort to ordering food like this in the wee hours… And once you make me contemplate parting with something that I need and love as much as drinking, we are going to have serious issues, because you’ve pushed me too far. There are a dozen places to grab a much better sandwich in the area. And if it’s too late, and your options are limited, call Caffrey’s deli. Hell, throw your shoelaces in a skillet with some butter and seasoning, put it on some bread with a little hot sauce, and you’ll still get a better sandwich than this joint can put together. Two thumbs down, middle fingers way up.

Horrible! I live 1.7 Miles from door to door of this location. I ordered online a Saturday around 330 pm. Got a call about 10 mins later from this store saying they do not deliver to my location, I was out of their«Range», really? 1.7 miles it too far for you to bring me a sub. So I said whatever and hung up. Looked it up and mapped it out to find out the distance, I then called back and spoke with someone else. He told me that their range was only to a certain area. which is about 2 block from my place, and I said so you cant go 2 more blocks to keep a customer? Well it is a good thing that JJ is a franchise and this particular owner has no idea what they are doing, cause I will gladly take my business to another sandwich establishment. Oh and back on September 30th I ordered from this same store and they delivered. Funny.

Listen, the only reason I keep coming back to this place is because I need a sandwich or some sort of cheap non-coronary artery busting sustenance delivered to my door. But in reality this place is just kinda bad. I’ve only ever gotten delivery — which after reading the reviews I don’t know whether to be thankful for or scared of considering I’m not seeing how my sandwich is being prepared. What you don’t know can’t hurt you I guess and I’ve not gotten sick. The problem really isn’t with the food itself. It’s standard cold sandwich fare. Eat it and be done. I also only get the veggie sandwich(even though I’m a meat eater) so that eliminates any scary run in with slimy deli meats. The problem here is that this is NEVER, I repeat, NEVER freaky fast delivery. You will wait, and wait, and wait some more for your sandwich. At least 30+mins. On a non-snow day. When you live less than a mile from the store. It also doesn’t seem to matter if the driver shows up in a car or bike, or on foot for that matter. It always takes forever. Not to mention this last time the«lettuce» on my sandwich was actually just an «unwhich» ripped apart because apparently they had run out. Classy.

I will never buy another sandwich from this JJ’s again! I received the worst customer service ever! The management called in and towed my car in their lot because I took 2 minutes to buy a coffee next door before getting my sandwich. And after I confronted them that I was actually a paying customer, I was told it was«my fault» for buying coffee first and there was«nothing they could do» to resolve the issue. DONOT give them your business!!! Go anywhere else for better service and better food and you will be much happier.

Unlike some reviewers, I’m a fan of JJs. I like their bread, I like the Turkey Tom, I even like the personality of their walls. I’ve been here a few times(used to live a few blocks away) and this location is pretty weak. The workers have always been wearing gloves when they made my sandwiches, but I definitely believe the other Unilocalers here who say they weren’t during their experience. While I would imagine this is a job people can do while stoned, I’d appreciate if they didn’t. My sandwiches were never of poor quality(relative to JJs) but the experience has never been pleasant. I’d advise against ordering from here. Too many other, better options around.

Why? Why go here when you can get sandwiches from any of the Vietnamese delis in the area cheaper, and most importantly, not mushy, gushy messes of stuff. Or Caffrey’s at Lynlake, or the huge sandwiches at the Somali places 2 blocks up Nicollet. Or Flavor B’s one block up. If it’s speed your looking for, Jasmine Deli a few blocks down has their sandwiches pre-made. Am I being unfair, is this a matter of taste and not quality? Do some people truly prefer soggy bread and tasteless cheese? And would take Jimmy Johns/Subway/Arbies/Blimpie over all these other options in the neighborhood even if a sandwich from all of them were placed conveniently in front of them for the taking? I cannot believe this, for the sake of humanity and my faith in it, I will not believe it.

After two bad experiences I have ranked this as 1 Star. I will order from Caffery’s from now on thank you very much.(Or Milio’s which is also becoming a favorite). Because this is just down the street and around the corner from me, I always find myself thinking maybe I should give it another shot! Well fool me once, shame on you… fool me twice, shame on me. The FIRST time I ordered from this location after waiting for an hour I called back to see what happened with the delievery. The guy at the store acted like he didn’t know what I was talking about until I let him know that I had a credit card transaction swiped at their store and was still waiting on the delivery. Well he «found» my sandwiches on the counter as they had not been delievered to me because they couldn’t find my building and ‘wrote down my number incorrectly.‘ So I told him that I would like our order redelivered. About a half hour later the sandwiches that were now soggy and nearing two hours old were finally delievered to my apartment and the delivery person rudely announced that I should be ‘more clear when giving my address and phone number’ which to me sounds like something the guy on the phone should take care of NOT me. I threw them away and contacted the manager only to have them rudely tell me it was my fault. I was not even offered a coupon for my trouble. Second time around, I went INTO the store because I knew I wasn’t going to wait, and it would only take me 5 minutes. I ordered my favorite sandwich and as I was making casual conversation about how nice the weather was the girl behind the counter(who wasn’t wearing gloves) let me know that she couldn’t go out and enjoy the weather because she was just getting over being sick. SHEWASN’T WEARINGGLOVESWHILEMAKINGMYFOODANDTOLDMESHEWASSICK. I asked for my money back, and all they offered me was a sandwish(made by her) after she washed her hands and put on gloves. Still gross. Never going back, never ordering online/phone. Sorry Jimmy, until you practice sanitation, I’m done!

Unclean! Unclean! I have to second Joshua’s review, almost word for word. When the girl behind the counter handed me my sandwich, I noticed she wasn’t wearing gloves. And then it dawned on me that she was the only person there at the time and I hadn’t had to wait for her to *do anything first* before she made the sandwich, so it seems logical that in addition to not wearing gloves, she didn’t even bother to fein cleanliness by washing her hands either. And what’s worse is that this is at least the second time I had my sandwich made gloveless at this location. In reality, this place is probably not any dirtier than any other fast-food or speedy sandwich shop you visit, but since they make the sandwiches *right there* I expect better. This appears to be an epidemic at this location, and since nobody appears to have any concern for hygiene, it makes me wonder how clean the food is to start with. I don’t want to have to check my sandwich-assembler every time from now on, nor do I want to have to awkwardly ask them to put gloves on. It’s easier to just stop eating Jimmy Johns.

So you’re starving, right? And you’re eagerly waiting for your turkey sub with light mayo, sprouts, tomatoes, and lettuce, and then as it is being wrapped up, you notice the guy making all the food isn’t wearing gloves. What do you do? Point this out? Risk pissing people off? Risk the wait associated with another sandwich being made and the inherent problems involved now that the food is being made by someone who hates you? I crossed my fingers and ate it. No ill effects. Livin’ on a prayer.

Need to put something in your foodhole? Jimmy John’s has things that fit in your foodhole! They fill you up, and don’t waste your time with a bunch of «flavor» or «nutrients». Their official slogan is «so fast you’ll freak», and I have to admit, it is no exaggeration. I would question the business plan that has six employees ready to pounce on my order and have it ready about as quickly as the words come out of my mouth. It seems where ever I am, there is a Jimmy John’s not very far away. This review could as easily been for the location in Dinkytown I occasion, or even the very first one I ever ate at in Gainesville, FL. I’ve never really found any variation among them. Service is always good, food is always effective. When I’m in a hurry and need to cram something down my foodhole, Jimmy John’s is my go to choice.
