Keys is a downtown Greek diner without any Greeks. It reminds me of the thousands of diners scattered throughout New York«the boys» went to when I was in high school. You can order everything, including the kitchen sink. Every portion is huge and everything tastes okay. Certainly, Keys is hangover heaven, but it is no culinary Nirvana. You get a lot to eat at a reasonable cost. So, stuff your face and waddle out of Keys content.

We came here for a quick brunch on Sunday morning this past weekend. I had called the day before to put in a reservation thinking brunch time would be busy. The gentleman on the phone told me they didn’t take reservations before 3pm on the weekends but we shouldn’t have an issue getting a table. When we walked in it didn’t seem that way. It was packed with people waiting. We went up the host counter where two very underwhelmed people were working. They didn’t even say hello but just looked at us like we had interrupted their conversation. I’m talking the fifth degree stink eye. Rude. They asked our name and party size and said it would be about a 15 minute wait. Fortunately we only had to wait about 5 minutes before we were brought to our table. We hadn’t even been there for 2 minutes when our waitress came over and asked if we knew what we wanted. Um, hi. Your menu is about 10 pages long, we just sat down, you didn’t even take our drink order let alone say hello or even smile for Christ’s sakes. Seriously, the customer service here is awful. Luckily the food made up for it somewhat. Their portions are huge and with most of the breakfast meals you get two huge pieces of 9 grain toast with their signature strawberry jam. I loved this, but with portions so huge, let’s put the toast on a separate plate when you bring it out. The toast was soggy from being thrown on top of my breakfast plate. The food overall was good and I had leftovers to take home which was nice. However if we want another diner like experience for brunch in the future, we will probably just go to the Hen House Eatery across the street. Their food is better and the staff are actually happy.

When you are staying at the W, Keys is an awesome option for a filling and solid breakfast. It is very diner-y, but that is part of the charm. I got a very simple breakfast(scrambled eggs and bacon) when I went, but it hit the spot. Portions were huge!

Ate here New Years Day 2016. It is a short walk from the downtown hotels and about three blocks from the Target center. I went about 8am and it was already in full swing. I was greeted and shown to a table without having to wait. My waitress came rather quickly and I had the eggs Benedict. I wanted it scrambled well done instead of poached and it came out scrambled but not well done. The hollandaise was a little tart and not the very best. Overall, it wasn’t a bad meal. But, it definitely wasn’t the best I’ve ever had either.

Good food, good service. Best thing about this place? The 90s satellite radio station playing during my visit.

If you require a wheelchair or mobility scooter to get around, this is not the place for you. You can get in the door but there is very little space in between the tables. I kept getting bumped while I was eating. The food was great but I just did not enjoy trying to get in or out. It felt like a can of sardines. This restaurant does not follow ADA guidelines.

I love the breakfast here. Eggs Benedict and blue berry pancakes are my favorite. I’m always coming back here for the breakfast and brunch. The service is always fast and friendly and the food comes out quickly. Well, I tried the happy hour appetizers for the first time the other day. My main critique is that, the happy hour potstickers are $ 6, but all you get are 4 tiny pieces! Very underwhelming. In comparison, for $ 4 at Applebees, you can get 8 large potstickers. I would definitely skip the potstickers apps at Keys. If it’s $ 6 for potstickers for the happy hour price, it must be even more overpriced on the regular menu! The other appetizers I ordered were good. Shrimp deviled eggs and the spicy fried shrimp app — plentiful.

My in-laws love Keys and I had a lackluster meal there back in about 1999 and havent been back since bc here in Minnesota we have glorious breakfast choices. However, I ended up back there last week and I feel like I need some humble pie to go with my Oreo Cake(they should sell cups of the frosting which is a-mazing. They cake was fine, but nothing could compare to that frosting) The atmosphere? Top notch. The waitstaff? Incredible. The coffee = just how I like it. Eggs with spinach and garlic and toast with strawberry jelly? Perfection. BC I’m a bakery nerd and my FIL was treating, we took the above mentioned Oreo Cake to go along with a snickerdoodle, a peanut butter cookie, and a M&M cookies. All were fabulous, but the peanut butter cookie wins a best in class award for Minneapolis cookies.

If you are looking for a traditional diner this it. The décor in the building will make you feel like you just walked back into the 1940’s. As soon as I walked in I saw the baked goods on their front counter. They looked sooooo good and it took all my willpower not to buy one on the spot and spoil my appetite. But after my meal I got a slice of carrot cake which was divine! For my meal I had an omelet and hash browns which was very well prepared, and delicious. Keep in mind that the meals come in large portions too. They also have good bloody mary’s! If you choose to come here on the weekend do so early or plan to wait a little while to get seated as it tends to get full really quick. Parking: You can park on the street or in the ramp next door.

Great service and my food came out hot not warm or cold! Very friendly staff and they showed great teamwork! I was helped by several servers other than mines but not because she was slacking. I have never been to this location but therea absolutely nothing stoping me from coming back!

Breakfast at the Keys Nice selection of standard breakfast fare. Very large portions. We had a vegetable omelet and the corn beef hash with eggs. Very well prepared, I wish the potatoes were cut into smaller chunks. Prompt friendly service. The atmosphere is very relaxing and so Art Deco from the 20’s. We did NOT try the cinnamon roll that everyone was raving about.

You know how anacondas look when they swallow something bigger than themselves? That’s how these giant omelettes look here with the hashed browns stuffed inside! *boom*

This is a really great diner/café in downtown Minneapolis. It’s not pretentious but serves really great standard breakfast dishes. I had eggs, toast, bacon and OJ. The eggs were cooked to order, the toast was thick, fluffy and served with house strawberry jam. The bacon was thick and also served extra crispy as requested. The OJ serving was large and it’s fresh squeezed. The only thing I didn’t like was the hard chairs and that it was really loud even though we were seated privately in the back of the restaurant. If I could eat a breakfast that good every morning I’d be one happy girl! I definitely recommend Keys!

My BFF and I had plans for breakfast on morning and I knew this was her favorite place so I asked if she’d like to go. Of course! I had been craving Eggs Benedict for like a year, so I ordered that. It was delicious. I can’t wait to go back. I can’t remember what my friend ordered but either in her order or on the side there was a pancake involved. Loved that too. There are too many tempting things on the menu at Keys, I will be doing myself a disservice if I do not return and try more food… if I can make it without ordering that eggs benny again. We went in on a Sunday morning and as expected it was busy. We did get a table very quickly though. I don’t know if we even waited 5 minutes. All good, 5 stars all the way. I recommend everyone try this place at least once and I hope you have as good of an experience as my friend and I did.

I was struggling with this rating until I got the check. The food is a 3.5 but not equivalent in quality to the price. $ 29.53 for French toast, fruit, an egg and coffee. French toast on the cinnamon toast was excellent. Skimpy with the extras however. Fruit cup was way better than most breakfast places. Fried egg straight up sucked. Service was excellent. Atmosphere had an old Chicago feel. I travel here frequently in business and will have a hard time deciding whether to return.

Nice little lunch spot with a little something extra for those with a sweet tooth. I’ve been through here on a few occasions for lunch, and I’m kinda torn between the burger, Reuben, and meat loaf platters. Staff are exceedingly friendly and very attentive to guests, and I can’t recall ever having an empty glass without being asked if I wanted a refill. As to the sweets — well, if you really want to make someone’s day stop in here for one of their brick-sized rice krispie treat bars or chocolate-chip/marshmallow/graham cracker bars. Yes — they are the size of actual construction bricks, and probably contain enough sugar to send a little kid into orbit, and they’re delightful. About the only thing I find disagreeable about Keys is their pricing for a multi-shot espresso. I generally have a few 6-shot espressos throughout the day, and I stopped in here for one and ended up being charged for 3 doppio espressos instead of a more reasonable(at least at any coffee shop) upcharge per additional shot of espresso. I unfortunately discovered that their espresso is also not really all that great, compounded by the fact it cost me over $ 10. Still — I’ll be back for a beer and burger sometime in the near future.

Found this gem walking around downtown. Craving some breakfast, we decided to try before starting our day. Hostess was very nice and we got say within 5⁄10 minutes of putting our name down. Our server was super friendly and really patient with us! Having such a large menu and seeing everyone eating something different, it was hard to decide what we wanted. I got the pancakes with chocolate chips with bacon and eggs. The pancake was very good, very rich and goldened to perfection. The pancake was literally the size of my face x2! They were very generous with the amount of chocolate chips and the food came out very quickly. Bacon was okay(lacking a little bit of crispiness) but the pancakes were definitely the best part. Will definitely return when I’m back in MPLS!

This week I stopped into Keys for a late breakfast with coworkers while at the Mpls Convention Center and tried the corned beef hash with two eggs over medium. I’ve had a great luck with Key’s breakfast in the past and this trip was no different. The corned beef was tender and lean, in small but plentiful chunks. The potato bites were crispy without being greasy and I liked the flavor. The homemade strawberry jam that comes with the toast is delicious and more like a fresh fruit spread. My toast was slightly burned but with the jam was still soft and yummy. My eggs were perfectly done with soft yolk and firm white. Plus the portion was hefty enough that I’d have leftovers on a normal day. I added some tabasco and it was PERFECT! I highly recommend this restaurant for any meal but especially breakfast and particularly for their hash!
