Staff was so friendly and even got a chance to talk to the owner. He was really social and funny, making jokes so that my friend and I would laugh. Everyone is very knowledgeable about the menu, substitutions, cost, etc. Food-wise, also excellent. I got the veggie omlet with cheese and it was perfect. I am usually picky with my eggs, but the kitchen staff prepared it well.

I had no idea what to expect from Mildas never been or heard of it. My wife took me there and she said you will love it. The place reminds me of like a lunchroom type setting very diverse. Service is nice they are very busy but it is worth the wait. The coffee is just so good like wow! The food really taste good I was so satisfied with everything that I plan on returning.

BAM… had the pasty, crust was close to perfect, gravy was on the mark, Cole slaw was fresh. Service was also very good. I’ve been here a few times before but never when they were serving the Pasty. This is served only on specific days of the week but well worth it.

Milda’s is everything you want in a local café. The wait staff knew just about everyone that came in, the food was delicious, and it’s literally a door with an awning that if you blink, you’ll miss. I dropped by with a family member for lunch after having it bookmarked for seemingly ever. Parking wise, street parking available, and a lot in the back of the building. Inside, it’s compact but not to the point of giving you that sardines kind of feel. Daily specials and a menu full of the café breakfast/lunch normals. I opted for a philly scramble(hash, scrambled eggs, beef, veggies and cheese all stacked) with a short stack. The waitress warned me the cakes were big and I may not be able to finish them all. I looked at my lunch date and we laughed hysterically. I tried making a bet with her that I’d finish it and the meal would be free, but, no take. Damn it. My aunt went with the same scramble, but with ham instead of beef. Very quick wait(top end, 10 minutes) despite a full restaurant at around lunch time, which was great. The scramble didn’t need anything at all. No sauces, toppings or anything else. Quite literally picked up my utensil, and dug into that bitch like it owed me money piling bites on top of my rye toast and just wrecking it. It was a fantastic dish. Wasn’t greasy, veggies had snap, and weren’t soggy. Cheese was melted and provided a different savory flavor to it. Only gripe would be my rye toast being under toasted. I know, those bastards. I did get half of the ham scramble too, which, again, was fantastic. Little more on the salty side with the pork+cheese, but still a great breakfast dish. Onto the pancakes. Were they big? Meh. I’ve seen bigger. But, they were good. Very good in fact. Syrup less bite produced a solid buttermilk flavor and great texture. Added the syrup, and those little flaps of heaven soaked it up like a champ. They are a bit more doughy than normal cakes, but aren’t to the yeast filled level. Very good cakes. Overall, a great experience, and one I’m glad I could share with a breakfast food deprived family member. If you’re in the area on a weekday, hit this place up for a great local style café breakfast.

The diametric opposite of hip, this is the most authentic diner in Minneapolis. The wait staff is a tad salty, just the way you’d want them to be. The food is decent, not much better or worse than you’d expect from a neighborhood spot. The pasties are their mainstay and are, of course, above average. Breakfasts are as good but cheaper as you’d find elsewhere, and the lunch sandwiches are passable. But what is most delightful is the overall vibe, in large part due to the clientele – a surprising amalgam of all sorts. Just real people eating real food in a real place.

I love this place I just wish they had weekend hours it would be wonderful it’s hard to get to it during the week. We had wonderful sweet rolls and everything else is so good for breakfast. It’s a very clean small friendly place I seem to know someone every time I go there. They give you more for your money! Yummy!!!

Great food ok service takes WAYYYYYYY to long to get food. They are alaways busy thats why it makes since to staff as if they are aware!!! I ordered 3 chicken wings and two Philly scrambles and I have literally been waiting an hour!!! My servers response was heres free bread and its taking a long time because you ordered chicken wings. Three Chicken wings DOESNOT take an hour!!! When my food came it was spilled on the table!!! When i spoke to another server she proceeded by telling me «I dont know what to tell you and the managers not comming to talk to you because he’s busy cooking» when the manager came and i expressed my server felt giving me free bread would make it ok he said they did their best theres nothing else they can do we are to busy. Left very offended, appalled and annoyed I will never be back!!!

We went here for the first time yesterday, after years of saying we wanted to. It was great – the service was outstanding. We were welcomed warmly, and we watched our server call the regulars by name, and take extra care of them, while making us feel like part of the group. The menu is typical diner/café fare, with a few specialties. We ordered homemade pasty and a hot meatloaf sandwich, with a side of grits. There was lots of brown gravy which was savory and delicious. The meal was extremely hearty. It’s the closest thing I’ve seen to a southern diner, kind of a Scandinavian-Southern-down-home-comfort-food hybrid.

I don’t normally write reviews like this but my brother and I had a horrible experience. We walked in the door and grabbed the paper. After I finished reading the entire front page of the paper, I noticed three other groups had been waited on and had placed their orders. Was my zipper down? Did I sit in someone’s favorite booth and was I being sent a subliminal message? We got up and nobody even cared. Then on the way out I saw an employee sipping on a cup of coffee at one of the tables. I wonder if the coffee was good? I can guarantee I will never know if the food was any good.

Went for breakfast. Food was very good, reasonably priced, fine service. Friendly people. The entire restaurant was spotlessly clean. Definitely will go back.

First visit, I ordered a California burger. I am not usually fan of hamburgers, but it was calling my name. Juicy, fresh, yum! My lunch date had the same and it was a consensus. Will definitely have to go back and try the pasty which they are known for and another date for breakfast.

A wonderful, cozy, feel right at home dining experience! Great service, friendly customers and quality food. It’s in an older neighborhood but don’t let that fool ya, as soon as I sat down I had other customers conversations with me like I had been coming in the place for ever. I had a ham &cheese omelet with hash browns and rye toast. Great place if you’re looking for no frills, home cooked style food.

After doing a good deed this morning I decided to treat myself to breakfast at Milda’s. Food and service were on as always. But the big news is that they now accept credit/debit cards(but not AmEx). $ 5 minimum is reasonable too.

Unilocaler fanatics read a review and are there the next day. A true home cooking place that gets the basics down pat. I just had a simple roast beef melt that brought new meaning to the word melt. The onions were small and thinly sliced and sauteed to perfection. I just didn’t need anything else today. But I will need everything else somewhere along the line. They must not need the money because they would clean up if opened on weekends. Service is great too.

Quite the classic diner institution. We went for breakfast on a Wednesday, and there were more people there than I was expecting. Cinnamon roll was huge and tasty. I ordered a classic breakfast dish of eggs, hash browns, bacon, and toast. It was exactly as I expected — no frills, just perfectly done and simple. Hoping to go again soon.

Fun little gem. Have driven by it countless times and never knew it existed. The place was HOPPIN’! The ambiance and service are fantastic, the caramel rolls were soft and gooey as promised, but my veggie omelette left a bit to be desired. I’ve never experienced cheese that sticks to my teeth. It was SO odd. I don’t know if it’s velveeta or what, but I couldn’t finish my omelette because: a) I was self-conscious about smiling to my lunch partner for fear I’d have a big goober of orange cheese across my smile b) Cheese shouldn’t stick to your teeth. That concerns me. The prices are awesome and it’s this great diner without pretentiousness. Feels like a small town diner but here it is, right off Glenwood in Minneapolis! Another warning, we spent about an hour in there for lunch and I carried the smell of a restaurant with me the rest of the day. I had to shower after because I couldn’t take it. Yup, still gave it 4 stars even with the cheese and smell. It’s just a neat place with no chip on it’s shoulder and I like that!
