Tons of really good looking pastries, pies, cakes… I got a chocolate scone and ate it in the airport! Mon Petit Cheri is a stones throw or two from the Institute of Art so you should start your day with a breakfast here because they have a really good breakfast menu and nothing but local sodas! I got the French Toast I’ll be in France in mid July so I’m practicing!

Delicious food, great service, and a cute, homey place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The croquets are delicious and the crêpes ate even better! Yum! Definitely coming back here!

I’ll say 2.5 Stars. We stumbled in to here while in the area looking for breakfast. It’s a cute trendy, hipster place. You order at the counter and they serve you at the table, however this caused a big line up by the door of people waiting in line. Plus I think the same people taking your order were serving coffee, bakery — not the best set up. My husband ordered the farm house breakfast or something like that — eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast. The toast was thick and magnificent — not his preference so I got to eat it. Super yummy with homemade berry jam on the side. The sausage looked homemade, but had a strange spice I didn’t care for. I had the Brioche french toast. The pieces were big, but for $ 9 some meat would have been nice. It was served with a cinnamon butter(which was grainy), syrup and the homemade jam(again, super yummy!). However, the french toast was really light and«bready» like the egg didn’t soak into the bread much? Major disappointment because I LOVE eggy, dense french toast. Im a HUGE bakery fan and the stuff in the bakery case looked… meh. There was nothing in there that made me scream«I have to have that!»(though to be fair they were out of carmel pecan rolls which probably would have spoken to me! Also, none of the bakery was priced which is a pet peeve of mine(Im cheap and don’t want to have to ask how much everything is!) Overall, it wasn’t awful but probably not someplace we’d go back to if we were in the area again.

Our family had a scrumptious breakfast at our visit to Mon Petit Cheri on Franklin Ave in the Seward neighborhood. My selection was the Brioche French toast with a side of sausage. I expected the French toast to be heavenly and it was. A perfect balance of freshness, flavor, atmosphere and cost describes be experience. The freshly made breakfast was surprisingly delectable. If you are wanting a bakery café with stellar attention to detail make sure you go to Mon Petit Cheri. They even have their own free parking.

This delightful bakery/café/restaurant was introduced to me by a frequent patron who lives near it. I returned today with my husband for a late brunch and we both walked away full and happy. Husband had the Ruben sandwich and I had an egg sandwich; both were well prepared and we devoured them. Our super indulgence led us to also split an order of pancakes. Here is where the staff really shines: we ordered citrus ricotta and got blueberry which are a couple dollars cheaper. I was thrilled by their fluffiness and the sweet buttery creaminess on top, but Husband couldn’t get over the price difference so he asked for a cookie(about the same value as the price difference) and instead we were refunded the whole value of the pancakes! Over and above service to top of delectable food wins my return service and high praise!

I love this spot! Their pastries are delicious and I’m embarrassed to say I’ve had MOST of their options! My fiancé and I had weekly coffee dates here we adore the atmosphere, goodies snd coffee! Best rolls are probably the orange-blueberry, jalapeño cheddar and maple bacon!

Came in for their dinner service and it was phenomenal! I had the beef brisket — shredded with crispy ends in a creamy polenta with collard greens. Mmmm so good! My friends had the pork tenderloin and ratatouille and were equally enamored. The cheese plate was a great start and espresso crème puffs were very tasty. Service was friendly and drinks were good. 10⁄10

We had a great experience trying out Mon Petit Cheri! The staff was friendly, the atmosphere is fresh yet cozy, there are plenty of tables, including a very large table for a group. The pastry selection was completely to everyone’s liking! The chocolate chip brioche had just enough vanilla custard, the almond scone was large and soft on the inside with a bit of crunch to the outside. The French toast was a nice large portion and also came with jam for those not fans of syrup. The coffee and peppermint hot chocolate were perfect for a cold winter day. Can’t wait to go try some of the other pastries and maybe a lunch option!

Grew up in a bakery… This place has terrible pastries… A definite bummer. Was hoping for a good bakery…

Molasses cookie sandwich and croque monseur roll? YES. DOIT. This is an amazing place to meet someone for a coffee and snack, or a light lunch. It’s quiet, cheap, and has a «spring breeze» kind of atmosphere. This place is what afternoons off are for.

I drove by and decided to grab a pastry. They were pretty busy with a long line and most of the tables were full as well. I noticed a black bean veggie quiche of the day that sounded good, so I ordered that and an eggnog pastry. The quiche was ¼ of the pie in size. It was delicious. I never would have thought to mix beans into a quiche, but it worked. It also came with a small salad for about $ 9. there were some amazing flavors for the pastries in the case. It was very hard to decide. I think I made a seasonally good choice with the eggnog frosted one. They also sell cookies the size of my face.

I thought the prices were a little high, but everything was delicious! I was disappointed that they hadn’t written the specials on their special board by 9am — you would think that would be the first thing one would do when you open for the day(they open at 7am). I would have been interested in trying the Benedict, but didn’t know about it until after we ordered.

Very pleased with our food. When ordering food at the counter their isn’t really a ‘order here– pick up/pay here’ spot. If you have basic common sense you’ll understand how it works but, this is the 21st century and that might be a thing of the past. I’d give it 5 stars for the food alone.

I’ve been to MPC for a breakfast-work session and a leisurely brunch. It was perfect both times. The staff is friendly and down to earth, the clientele is a cool mix of folks, and the food is amazing. The egg sandwich on an English muffin features a freshly baked homemade muffin — none of that nooks-and-cranny-crap you get at the grocery store. That’s like eating a roll of toilet paper, *this* is like eating a simultaneously dense and light bread-cloud from heaven. The salad that comes with the sandwich is dressed in the most delicious French dressing. I’ve lived in France, this stuff is legit. Latte so good I didn’t have to load it with sugar. Top marks, MPC, you’re a great addition to the neighborhood!

I met a friend here for lunch and wow, the food was great. My friend had the quiche and I had the special salad of the day-wild rice. Coffee was wonderful as was the lemon square we shared for dessert. I wish I had brought home so many of the wonderful pastries in the case out front but alas I didn’t. The sandwiches and soup we saw looked wonderful too. The atmosphere was fun and homey. I will be back.(I remember when this location was a great Himilayan restaurant) As an added bonus, I left my car lights on in the parking lot! Oh no! I asked the counter person and he got one of the staff to jump my car and he wouldn’t take any money from me. Thanks James, you deserve a raise.

Cute little place with cute food. All of the food is kind of done-up a little bit. The oatmeal wasn’t just your normal rolled oats and milk, but it was damn good. This place is a bit pricey and probably isn’t warranted. Portions are normal sizes. Baked goods are good but not great. The cinnamon roll was kind of dry and stiff. I’m not rushing to go back here but I’m glad I did go and experience it once. I think the prices are what deter me return. It wasn’t worth the money in my eyes. There are a lot more bakeries in the city that are less expensive and way better.

Best ever!!! I am thrilled I stumbled across this gem! I was on my way to Seward Café-one of my go to top breakfast spots in Seward when I drove by and decided to make a u-turn to try out a new place. Since there was no Unilocaling before arriving I didn’t know what to chose! So, I’ll let you know what you should chose-everything! Here’s what I had Bacon, cheddar and chives quiche with greens-deliciously prepared, good portion and beautiful presentation. Brown butter Apple roll-so fresh and sweet. Croque roll with ham-even at a day old this one tasted fabulous! And that was all my stomach had room for but when I go back I am going to try another roll, cookies and the Apple galette! It looks so awesome! Also, the interior is super cute and the people who work there are extremely kind. I had a great experience and I can’t wait to go back and get some more delicious food for my belly!

Impromptu Saturday morning stop while heading to another place for breakfast. Seemed friendly and cute inside. We walked up to their baked goods/barista counter where they had displayed a variety of bars, cookies, sweet breads, scones, and rolls. People were milling around the counter and people were also trying to walk by the same area — waitstaff and patrons alike — to either go outside or come inside. Seemed a bit chaotic for that very small, closed-in area. I hope either they or the regular patrons figure out some«method» of queuing up for counter service that does not impede the flow of in and out customer/waitstaff movements. We got a few items«to go»: a lemon-blueberry scone, an order of 3 beignets(for $ 5) and an Americano coffee(Dogwood), and then sat at a nearby table to wait for the beignets and Americano. While waiting, we broke off a few bites of the scone. It was alright — better than most I’ve had — but a bit sweet, and it left the inside of my mouth coated with a greasy feeling after the first bite. This made me think that they use something other than, or in addition to, real butter and/or cream. It had a nice«crust» on the outside, and was sort-of tender on the inside. Our beignets arrived piping hot inside a box — and there were 4 instead of 3. My companion tried one first — he’s eaten them in New Orleans so I was interested in his opinion of how these compared to his experiences with beignets in NOLA. They met his approval. I was delighted with the piping hot 3-bite bits of powder sugar-coated fried dough rectangles! The Americano finally arrived and I found it to be smooth and flavorful, albeit rather late to enjoy it alongside the scone and beignets. Perusing their menu resulted in thoughts of returning another time to sit down and try some breakfast.

I thought this would be an average place. It turns out it’s perfect. As in items being the best I ever had. Mainly the lemon bars, perfect balance of lemon and the crust is like a delicate cookie. The apricot pastry I saved for breakfast the next day was delicious in every bite. I like that they always have quiche. I had a cheddar and bacon. I have yet to have an outstanding quiche in a restaurant, until now. They have the crust down pat. It’s as good as mine. For some reason I thought it was a bakery, but it’s breakfast all day, plus all the goodies and lunch items. One flaw, the reuben is not a reuben in any sense of the definition. It’s grilled ham with mustard. The kraut isn’t too tart which is a good thing. I chose the Earl Gray iced tea, which was on the weak side. However it was icy cold and they offer a liquid sugar sweetener as well as raw sugar. I’ll never miss a stop when I’m over this way.

Good coffee, and perfect sunny side up eggs. The quiche was also good with a nice side salad. Nice atmosphere as well. The pastries are good. Things they could improve a bit: speed of service. It wasn’t full when I was there, but still took quite a while to get food. Also, the chicken apple sausage was very flavorful, but a little tough.

The pastries are divine! We tried the blueberry and orange roll and the almond scone. The flavors and texture are amazing and worth every calorie! If you leave near the neighborhood, it’s definitely worth a try for the bakery goods.

I suggest you visit this wonderful new spot before the crowds start forming lines outside the door. This café and bakery is a neighborhood spot that is worth seeking out. The homey décor and pleasant staff make this family owned place cozy but the baked goods are the real star. They bake some of the best scones I have ever tasted. There is also a nice selection of rolls and bars. The flourless chocolate cake is spongy but decadent and is only $ 8 for a cake that serves several people. The rhubarb Galette has a wonderful crust. Local favorite Dogwood coffee is served. We have had a full breakfast there. My husband enjoyed the eggs, bacon and potato breakfast while I enjoyed the crepes. It is also good place to meet with friends for coffee and a bite to eat. We have picked up scones to go and look forward to trying the lunch menu as well.

I went here with my mom the day after their big write-up in the Star Tribune. Apparently half their business that day was mentioning the write-up. The menu has a decent amount of variety. I had the farmer’s breakfast while my mom had the egg sandwich with gruyère on rye, which came with some greens. Both were flavorful and left us feeling sated. I agree with other reviewers: the Dogwood Coffee i a big plus. The staff were friendly and helpful despite the steady business, and my mom took a couple pastries to go, including the croque monsieur. In general the pastries looked great. I’d definitely return for another meal in the next few weeks, especially given my proximity to the shop.

I came for the pastries. I think that’s what you should do, too. The croque monsieur was the best. A savory roll with ham and cheese and a surprising punch of pepper. The caramel roll was topped with pecans, making it reminiscent of a pecan pie but in a form that you get to eat for breakfast. The chocolate brioche roll and orange blueberry rolls were really tasty, maybe a little doughy in the middle. The scones apparently aren’t very memorable, but I did try a couple. Overall, everything was tasty and not overly sweet. If you’re not eating these pastries slightly warmed up, you are seriously deranged.

I work about 3 blocks from this place and started popping in shortly after they opened. My only experiences with Mon Petit Chéri have taken place while grabbing a breakfast pastry on Sunday mornings. So far I’ve had a caramel roll, a bacon cheddar scone, a croque monsieur roll(on 2 occasions), a birthday cake cookie, and a chai latte. The caramel roll was lovely — gooey, sticky sweetness covered in pecans. The bacon cheddar scone was buttery and peppery with little crispy bacon pieces and a surprisingly nice sugar glaze on top. I haven’t seen it there since the weekend I picked it up and I’ve been pretty bummed about it. The cookie was moist in the middle and sweet to perfection with sprinkles inside. The croquet monsieur roll is a cool concept. It’s like a savory cinnamon roll with ham and cheese switched in for the cinnamon parts. It’s a good item for a small breakfast when you aren’t looking for a sweet roll. The first time I got it, it was very peppery and moist in all the right ways. The second time I got it, it was underdone and doughy in the middle. That brings me to my biggest disappointment: the chai tea latte. It is a packet of tea with powdered condensed milk that they pop into hot water. That does not a latte make. I learned this info when I asked for soy milk and was told that she could leave room for me to add it in, but could not remove the powdered milk. As expected, it was not tasty delicious. Lattes have steamed milk, their version is not a latte. Overall, I think their main issues are inconsistency and slowish service. The selection of goodies seems relatively small. The baked goods themselves seem to vary in their preparation. The baked goods should be the life of the party at a bakery but I worry that their desire to do sandwiches, coffee, and other fun things might make it difficult for them to be consistently good in all areas. The concept is super cute. The décor is baking-themed with whisk lighting fixtures and rolling pin wall art. I think it’s in a good location with lots of parking. The staff is friendly and such. Based on my limited experience, I give this place 3 stars and my continued patronage due to their great potential. Maybe being open a few more months will help them work out the minor kinks.

First of all the cashier/order taker named Maddie(. I made sure to get her name) was very friendly and cheery and smiled. Their menú board did not list salads or sándwiches. The menús are small and on clipboards. I asked about the seasonal vegetables in one sándwich but decided on Swedish Reuben. Maddie said it was good. Its ham, pickles, kraut, and gruyère cheese. I ordered it to go. Suggestion: offer kettle chips not side mixed green salad with sándwich. The sándwich seemed high priced at $ 9. Upon opening box, the sándwich seemed burnt. See photo. The Décor is cute I give them that, but a real limited menú and high price point along with Seward COOP down the street and other competition from Surdyks who rock on sándwiches this place may struggle. I also ordered a Martha bar for $ 2, which would have been a better value at $ 1.50. Water is in cute jelly jars.

I came in here the second day that they were opened. I wanted to love it, because I had been following their instagram and was excited for the opening. However, I was let down. The selection of treats seemed small. Service was lacking. It might have been because they were brand new, but they were SOOO slow and didn’t seem overly worried about it. I got a chocolate chip brioche and it was mediocre. I took 2 bites and tossed it. Oh well.
