Considering I work down the street, I thought quick and easy delivery service was attainable. Not at all. An hour and a half after placing the order, I finally got my food — full of sugar and grease with a weird burnt after taste. Definitely not fresh; both the chicken and rice were mushy. Absolutely not worth the $ 30 spent(these prices are ridiculous too!). The only good thing about this experience is that my soda I ordered was almost cold…

Solid Chinese food for the neighborhood, consistently my go to. The cream cheese wontons are delicate with plenty of cream cheese. Sesame chicken can be on the sweet side, but their chicken lo mein makes up for it. Delivery can be a little unreliable, so it’s best to just pick up or eat in house. Overall, the best quality when compared to others in the area.

Wow. That was bad. All sugar and grease and tasting not fresh at all. What’s the Chinese word for«ptomaine»? Just paused and looked up «New China Wok Edina health inspections». Turns out they didn’t pass them not very long ago. I finished eating about half an hour ago and I only came to Unilocal because my stomach started rumbling immediately. Take my advice, people: pizza tonight. I’m going to throw up now. Seriously.

This a review of my customer service experience, not the food(you’ll see why). Before placing a delivery order, I first asked if my residence(less than 3 miles away) was one they could deliver to. The lady I spoke with conferred with another person(I assumed a driver) and then told me they did. Since my wife and I hadn’t decided on our food yet, I told her we’d call back. I called back and spoke with a different person who requested my cell number and took my address down, confirming again that they do deliver to the area. After placing my order I was told that it would be 45m before my food would be delivered; a bit long for 5:00pm on a Wednesday evening but not outrageous. Over an hour later I called back and spoke with the first lady I had talked to. She confirmed my order via cell number and said that my food«had just come out of the kitchen.» I was pretty upset that it had taken this long but glad that I would finally be eating in the next 15 – 20 minutes. Another hour goes by and I call back getting the same lady. She confirms my order with my cell number yet again. This time, however, I overhear her telling someone«you talk to him then.» A third person gets on the phone and tells me flat out that they do not deliver to my area. I’m floored at this point; over two hours after placing my order and I’m being told the opposite of something I was assured of twice before. No phone calls were ever made to me to let me know this at any point. When I confronted him about two others there confirming that they deliver to my address(less than 3 miles away mind you), he instead changed his story saying«it’s too busy, I’m not able to drive out there, I’m sorry.» That’s it… That’s all I got for over two hours of hassling with this restaurant at this point. I told him that I had better have the money refunded to my card(I pre-paid over the phone), to which he responded, «Oh, yes, do you want us to refund your money?» I was furious that it was even a question and not the first thing out of his mouth at this point. I will never find out if the food is worth any effort made to eat it because I will never give this restaurant a second chance. If my next customer service experience is even half a bad as this one it will still not be worth anything that they serve.

I ordered my food about 30 mins before the restaurant closed, but it took almost 2 hours to get to my house. It was cold and the sweet and sour shrimp I ordered was missing the sweet and sour sauce??? WTF. No fortune cookies. I think the delivery guy forgot about it and went home, only to realize he hadn’t dropped off my food on the way home. From now on I will be ordering from Red Pepper in Edina. They have way better sauces anyway, they just don’t deliver, so I guess I’ll walk my lazy butt over there to pick it up myself.

To be honest, this was probably one of the worst Chinese food experiences that we have had in a while. The cream cheese wontons were subpar only because there were two different kinds(?) in the box and they were tiny! The potstickers did not taste or look like they had been cooked enough, and didn’t look they’d been put anywhere near a hot pan. The chicken fried rice, if you want to call it that, was absolutely disgusting and put us off from the rest of the meal. We didn’t eat any of the sesame chicken that we ordered after we saw the«chicken» in the rice.

Great food and service for the price. Delivery is some of the best we’ve had — fast, always-chipper attitude, helpful on the phone. Plus, the person who has delivered to us every time has been so nice about our dogs sounding the alarm when they hear the doorbell. Props for being so cool and understanding! Dining in isn’t the best experience, especially in winter. With some renovations and larger vestibule to stop frigid air from pouring in, the restaurant experience would be much improved. If you’re looking to dine in and you’re hungry, it’s still a good bet! Just maybe not a first date kind of place. Food is good, not write-home-about-it good but if you need some egg drop soup and gluten-free sweet and sour chicken, this place will be your jam. My husband is always happy with his regular order, too, usually some kind of savory chicken and egg rolls. Looking for gluten-free Chinese food? You’ve found it. They don’t have Tamari(gluten-free soy sauce), but they have always made extra-sure to accommodate me and make my food tasty, adding extra vegetables as well(because I also can’t have onion). Quite pleased with the overall experience!

Don’t order online, or at all for that matter. It takes nearly a century to get cold food. Sorry excuse for a business

My husband LOVES Chinese food and we are so glad we found this place. We’ve ordered take-out mostly, but have come in to dine in which did not disappoint. Their food is fresh, service fast, and the owners are so nice and personable. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu either, which is always a plus. Definitely recommended!

I work in Edina and ordered New China Wok for delivery to my office while working on a Saturday. I am not one to rave about chinese delivery, as most of it is pretty much the same, but I was really impressed with New China Wok. The bad: Their website is not easy to navigate. I had to entere my phone number repetedly, and the checkout process was a bit annoying. That being said, I was able to order online, which is a feature you don’t often see with small chinese places, so I won’t fault them for having a lack-luster web design. My co-workers and I ordered 3 of their lunch specials, which I was excited they offered on Saturdays. $ 7.95 for a nice portion of chicken, pork fried rice and soup or an egg roll. I had the general tsao, my workers the seasame chicken, all with egg rolls. The food was not only hot, but so hot that I actually had to let it sit on my desk for 5 minutes before I could eat it. The general tsao was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and the sauce was very flavorful. I cannot say enough how happy I was with my lunch order. This is probably one of the best chinese delivery meals I have ever had. The rice was a quality fried rice and again, portioned well for a lunch special. The egg roll had a nice crispy shell with good flavor, though the filling wasn’t exceptional; good but nothing spectacular. My coworkers said their chicken was also very hot, and though it a little less spicy then they would prefer, delicious. I don’t much care for spice, and the medium spice level was perfect for me. Tip: If you like things spicy, order them extra hot. Our driver arrived in 40 minutes, found his way into our locked office building like a ninja, and delivered my food to the front desk. I have tried a couple of the other delivery places in the area, and I have to say I was very impressed with New China Wok’s service and food on delivery. We will definetly be ordering from them again!

Very average Chinese delivery food. You can order online, but it will still be kinda slow. 45 minutes is the estimate for just a few items and 60 minutes if you buy $ 40 worth of food(which by the way, who is decisive enough to stay under that threshold?). Here’s what we pigged out on: Egg Drop Soup — standard but good, can’t go wrong with this one Hot and Sour Soup — tasty, but not particularly spicy, I liked the mushrooms Fried Dumplings — really not good, they were steamed then thrown in a frying pan with nothing to caramelize the sides, just get steamed dumplings instead Egg Rolls — four for four bucks seems like a good value but they were not good, way too doughy, not nearly enough crunchy vegetables Chicken Fried Rice — somewhat dry compared to what I’d expect, really needed some oil added to make this standard Americanized Asian fare Pork Lo Mein — just right, very good Beef with Broccoli — good sauce, nice big broccoli, make sure you get the large though, the veggies are so big you’ll want to make sure you get enough beef Garlic Chicken — I was hoping this would have some heat, but this ended up being a sweeter sauce; very tasty as it came, just not spicy I definitely haven’t found my go to place outside of Uptown yet…

For quick Asian food this is really good. Delivery is fast, people are friendly, and the food is much better than usual Asian delivery. The food takes another leap forward if you go in and eat there. Sort of a dive, but the foods great!

Neither dish I’ve experienced here were very good. Both were very sweet sauces and bland; tasted like frozen dishes. I asked for some heat and got very little. Service was friendly so I’ll give a couple stars, but I won’t be back!

This place is ok, at best. We love Schueng Chang(on U of M campus) but didn’t feel like driving tonight. We decided to give the New China Wok a try. I usually think that delivery Chinese is sub-par(at best). We ordered Hunan Beef and Szechuan Chicken for our main courses. Both dishes were way to spicy to be considered eatable. To say that we love spicy food is an understatement. We also ordered the fried rice and asked for it to be spicy. My friends make fun of me because they think I have tried every Asian food place in the state… and I ALWAYS order my fried rice spicy and I have NEVER tasted anything like this. I took one bite and broke out in a full sweat. We both tried mixing it with white rice, but that didn’t work. Lastly, we ordered egg rolls. They were bready and flavorless. We had to stop eating after only a few bites and we threw away $ 40 worth of Chinese… totally disappointed. That being said I will try it again and ask for things less spicy. Delivery sucked. 35 minutes? Pffffffttttt… over an hour and I live 6 blocks from the joint.

I’m torn(and i swear i wrote a review over a year ago) but guess not. This is usually our GO-TO place for Chinese Delivery. The shrimp are excellent, no fishy flavor, big and tender. Beef and Pork dishes are also very tender with lots and lots of vegetables. The egg rolls are totally crappy and the cream cheese won tons are average. The pot stickers are really bad, just flavorless and doughy. But again all main dishes are really quite good!!! My boyfriend and I have enjoyed food from here for over a year, and then they added Bubble or Boba tea and sushi to the menu. So we thought sure-why not. And yes we did think twice about ordering sushi from a delivery place, but we are also the type of people who enjoy Lund’s sushi for quick dinners. Back to topic, it was terrible! Really Really fishy and totally not fresh. Major Ick. We tossed $ 15 worth of sushi crap and got back to our beef and broccoli. And i tried to get a boba tea but they were out, and from Alex X’s review i guess i’m glad of that. They do take their dear sweet time getting you your food. Every time we call for delivery they say 45min, which turns into an hour. We live within a half mile from the place. :( So in summary; Order any main dish and it will be good fresh food, any sides, drinks, or apps you should skip it.

Best General Zhao’s Chicken. Enough said! Well, it is the freshest chicken with the best sauce. Get the combo and it comes with fried rice and a egg roll! Great Deal!

When I first moved in a couple of blocks away almost 3 years ago, I would have given this place 2 stars. It was«cheap Chinese food», but not very good cheap food. They have tweaked their recipies and lately their food has been tasting better and better. There are still things they don’t do well(fried rice) and some things come over as a little extra salty, but the entrees have upscaled considerably and are now pretty darn tasty.

This is a solid, American-style Chinese restaurant. As such, I give it 4 stars. Reliable Chinese, featuring all the dishes you are familiar with. Majority of business is take out, but there is a small dining room. Delivery has always been reliable for us. No liquor license. Favorite dishes: General Tso’s is made with all white meat chicken, and is of the non mystery/rodent variety. Dumplings are standard fare. Lo mein less greasy than most. It’s not going to change your life, but when it’s 5:30 and you don’t want to cook, call the Wok.
