Poor customer engagement. Was in the store 5 – 10 minutes before my husband could rustle up someone to help us. I got the distinct feeling they weren’t interested in my money. I try to buy local but when the staff seems disinterested in giving service it makes it tough. There was only one other customer in the store at the time and plenty of employees.

Just before 7:00PM on Nov. 13 I arrived at your Minneapolis store and opened the door to a young man vacuuming. I made my way to the back counter and a young woman with reddish hair was quickly passing behind the counter heading somewhere in back and paused to say hello. I turned to go back and look at the boots(not my first time here) and had to negotiate my way around a young man and woman who were deep in conversation. The only reason I could tell they worked there is because they didn’t have winter coats on. They continued their conversation as I made my way around them. I prefer to support local businesses and I knew that you carried the brand I was interested in and found the boots I wanted on display as I looked through all the different boots you have. At this point no one was in sight, just the sound of the vacuum cleaner. I walked over and checked out the shoes as well waiting for someone to come and help me. I neglected to mention I was the only customer in the store. I decided at this point I was not going to beg one of the four people working in the store to come help me, so I sat down by the boots, took out my phone and noted the time. I checked my email, Facebook, looked at your website, and waited. 5 minutes passed and I was still the only customer in the store. The young man with the vacuum rounded the corner where I was sitting and continued vacuuming. I waited a minute more and decided that you obviously are not interested in my money. A lifetime ago I managed a successful retail store, so retail customer service is not foreign to me. If my employees ignored customers, I offered them the opportunity to pursue some other endeavor more to my liking, like not being in my store ignoring my livelihood. I found the young man on my way out who had been conversing with the young woman when I walked in and informed him that he just lost a $ 300 sale. His response was, «Did you want to try something on?» Having someone vacuuming while the store is open is a simple way to say, «Leave, we are trying to close.» I thought you were open until 8:00PM. I sent you an email about my experience and you chose not to respond. It’s sad and frustrating when the primary thing a brick and mortar retailer sells is customer service and you are completely out of stock.

I needed dressier shoes as I packed two left shoes on my trip to MN. Nice they were open early in the morning before I had my meeting. Also bought a sale priced running shoe I found on their sales rack. My shoe salesman was very nice and said we have shoes like that when he looked down at my two left shoes I was wearing.

It’s hard to beat Nokomis Shoes. Great service, employees who actually know what they are talking about… AND it’s a local business! What’s not to love? They have an interesting selection. Some good, some unusual. They have one of the biggest inventory of smartwool that I’ve ever seen. Nokomis is also my go-to store for winter weather boots and socks. Not sure this would be my first stop for really hip, fashion conscious footwear. But, they fill their niche perfectly, and I love them for it.

I’ve been shopping Nokomis shoes for over fifteen yrars. Great selection and service. Always find what I need. Best selection of socks anywhere. Look for sales and coupons which make prices very competitive.

Buy all my Filson hunting gear at Nokomis shoes. Aside from having an awesome selection of the good, high quality stuff it’s hard to find anywhere else, the staff also knows what they’re talking about. Great service, great store!!!

Keep your money local, support a great business that cares about their customers AND get a great shoe(they have great winter clothes for men and women, too!). We drove by this place a hundred times before finally stopping in. My wife wanted a pair of Merrell boots she saw on Nordstrom and . Much to our surprise, Nokomis Shoe had them AND they were $ 30 less!!! Helpful, friendly service and great selection of comfort, sports and winter shoes and boots, as well as Smartwool products and much more. Highly recommended.

I never thought I’d review a shoe store, let alone give a shoe store 5 stars. But these guys deserve it and my new Doc Martins should last at least 5 – 10,000 miles. :)

Great place to go for a pair of Keen’s. Their staff are experts so you can get all your questions answered before buying! They also have a great selection of winter boots, hiking, running, trail running shoes. We often pick up products to protect our boots and shoes because it is so handy when you need to waterproof some new shoes but ran out of the spray. They also have the gear for winter coming up with Smartwool socks, hats, gloves, etc. A good spot to pick up Nokomis, Lake Nokomis, etc branded shirts and sweatshirts as well as gifts for babies and little kids. We’ve picked up more than one pair of Robeez there :) Like their Facebook page and watch for their clearance sales and big sidewalk sales.

So few places still exist like Nokomis Shoe Shop. I looked at 3 different malls, Roseville, Ridgedale and MOA for the perfict pair of boots this winter DSW and Famous footwear seem to be stocking leftovers and nothing of quality. Many retailers had the boots i wanted on their website but not in stock in the store(the regional buyers suck evidently…) Anyway Nokomis has in stock and in many sizes great quality and a variety of boots. Full friendly service and good prices for top brands. Check out their website or stop in one of two locations. They also have some clothing and gift items. GODBLESSNOKOMISSHOES!

My favorite shoe shop! The staff is always cheerful, and I agree it is a destination, and sometimes an adventure(tower of boots)! I do like the extras that they carry, the cards & little gifts. Its been in the neighborhood since 1931, and they continue to embrace the neighborhood by carrying books written by neighbors, as well as some jewelry made by locals.

Got to give it to them. great service always. It feels great to buy something from them. Not a ton of stock, but you can seem to always fit your needs. I like that they have stuck to a few brands, and not tried to be DSW, or Famous Footware. Its a tie for me between Schulers and Nokomis Shoes, I seem to end up at Schulers if I happen to be by one, versus it being a destination, whereas Nokomis Shoes is a destination. You can find your Merrells, Keens, New Balance… always the latest styles with great sales… I wish they would forget all the cards and gifts and just put in more Smartwool socks, or clothes… as they have great buyers!
