Suddenly closed. Are Papyrus card shops no more? More than suddenly, operations ceased entirely and store being cleared as I write this review on at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. When I found the Mall of America location being emptied this morning, I asked what was up. The moving company guy lied to us, saying the registers and phones were down, and he was trying to get them fixed… since when does a guy in moving company uniform fix phones and cash registers while packing up merchandise and breaking down fixtures??? Tables cleared, wall stock gone… this is not a phone/register issue! Even the mall security said Papyrus was not open today due to technical issues and offered other shopping options in the mall. Very suspicious. Looks more like an asset seizure instead of a technical issue!!! Did I miss when Papyrus declared bankruptcy, or did they miss a few payments and got foreclosed on by their financiers? Either way, they forgot to tell the customers shopping for holidays yesterday: «Not sorry, no returns.» :( I’ll pause now to get a response from Papyrus execs… what say you?

Oh Papyrus, where the heck would I be without your snazzy, fancy greeting cards or your fabulous gift wrap and accessories? You help me make Martha Stewart proud during the holidays. Thank you in particular for my silk peony flower topper that I spend a crazy amount of money on since it will just be thrown away when my in-laws receive the gift, but is just about the goshdarn cutest silk flower I’ve ever seen. The Galleria Papyrus is fabulous, but if you can, go to the Mall of America instead. I hate walking in the Galleria — I feel like everyone thinks I’m ghetto for walking in the mall in — GASP! — jeans and sneakers. MOA’s is also larger and the customer service is surprisingly more attentive(when you consider the drastic traffic differences!) if and when you need it.
