LJ is amazing. Especially considering her young age. If you love modern, razor cuts and highlights, she is your woman. She listens, makes suggestions and is lovely to talk to. AND: She is affordable.

This place is right in my neighborhood, and they are excellent! I have gotten my hair cut with Caroline and LJ multiple times, and I would highly recommend both. I tried a few salons out when I moved to the Twin Cities, but I stuck with Riverstone because it was a great match. It’s an upscale salon with talented staff, but the atmosphere is very relaxed and the prices are reasonable.

Had a wonderful experience getting my haircut here for the first time. My stylist was friendly and talented. Will definitely be going back!

We’re newly transplanted to Minnesota. What luck! There’s a salon and spa that’s only a three minute walk from our front door. I’ve have some crazy, crazy hair. Color does not hold onto my hair for very long and now that I’ve reached a certain age, I can only do so much about the grays. I’m so lucky to have found LJ! She gave me a wonderful cut and continues to transform my hair color for the better! Everyone is wonderful. Service is fantastic and it seems as if each stylist has built a solid and comfortable relationship with their client. I’m lucky enough to walk, but if you’re not, the salon is still well worth the visit!

I made this Unilocal account just to write this review, thats how dissatisfied I am. Riverstone used to be my go to spa, they have a very nice ambiance and seemed to have friendly staff. I am sad to say though that after a recent poor experience that stretched all the way up to management I will not be returning. The errors began right from the start, I called a week or two prior after looking at pricing and services on their website, I was very specific in the services that I wanted because I knew I didn’t have much time for relaxation. I received a leg wax, bikini wax and a pedicure, apparently their office staff had made a mistake and booked me for the waxing before the pedicure so I was unable to get any type of exfoliating, however the staff never attempted to apologize for this in any way. When it came time to pay the bill was higher than I expected, I brought this up with the person at the desk who stated that I had booked a higher level pedicure than I had requested. I explained to her that I thought I was getting the lower level as that is what was requested but again there were no apologies. I simply paid and left at this point. On my way home as I thought more about the situation and became increasingly annoyed I called and spoke with management. I went back and forth all the way up to the owner who would only offer a $ 20 gift card despite that I had never booked the pedicure I was charged for nor did I even receive the full pedicure due to their office staff booking it incorrectly. I will not be returning to Riverstone and I encourage anyone considering going here to support other companies with better business practices.

I am a Mn native currently residing in another state and every time I make it back I come to Riverstone to get my hair cut. Brooke does an amazing job! She is highly skilled, quick and detailed. The prices are very reasonable and I love that she really listens to what i want. The salon is clean, warm and inviting and the staff is friendly and professional. Definitely check this place out

I live in the western ‘burbs and have been searching for a stylist at a salon that would give my thick & short hair an edgy undercut. Not easy to find, actually. A friend recommended Riverstone — and specifically Ashley — so I trekked the 25 minutes each way with high hopes. She did not disappoint. The salon is clean, peaceful and spacious. The staff were all smiling and very friendly. Parking was easy. Ashley got me right into her chair and got down to business. She knew immediately what my hair needed and in no time had it cut beautifully. She was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. I thought the price reasonable as well. My husband and I have our house on the market and are moving back to the Longfellow neighborhood where Riverstone is located, so I plan to continue to see Ashley. I’ve had many compliments on the new hair!

«I would like to commend Riverstone Salon for the hair and nail services I received on Saturday, June 1st. I am a previous client of Riverstone, but I moved out of state about four years ago. I called Riverstone and set up appointments for hair styling and a mani/pedi. The occasion was a reception to celebrate my recent marriage. First, the new space is beautiful. I loved the big windows and all the light. Next, Jackie was my dream stylist. I was a little nervous and anxious about what to do with my thick curly hair for the reception. I’m an older bride and didn’t want anything too elaborate. Jackie was reassuring, fun, creative, and very accommodating. She translated my anxiety and vague idea for a retro 40s look into the perfect hair style. She also did my mani and was just as helpful to me in picking out a color to complement my dress. My pedicurist, Kara, was also wonderful. I was worried about getting my hair done by someone I didn’t already have a relationship with, but I was so happy with the services I received! Thank you!

I’m so happy to have found Riverstone Salon Spa! I have extremely high-maintenance platinum hair that Angie somehow keeps healthy and perfectly toned each and every time. This is difficult to find in a stylist and I’m always nervous to try out a new salon but she got it right the first time and I’m forever finished with my hair masquerading as a perpetual science experiment! I’ve now tried out many of the services conveniently offered at Riverstone and have been delighted with the knowledgeable and caring staff. This is now my go-to place for pedicures, as well. It’s quiet and relaxing in the back of the spa and there aren’t a million people around like most places. Riverstone is my I-can-justify-it getaway destination in the twin cities and I’m grateful for the mini-vacation they offer me!

Been going to Riverstone for haircuts and a manicure for a while now and, although the results were a mixed bag, I was generally content with this local spot. Until today. I checked in for my haircut appointment and sat on the couch to wait. This man sits on the arm of the couch and proceeds to inform me that the stylist is new and she isn’t used to «ethnic» hair. He lowered his voice to say«ethnic»!!!, I’m guessing not to embarrass me; it didn’t seem to occur to him that the only cringe-worthy thing was his gob-smacking ignorance. Where to begin? The fact that this guy never introduced himself? The fact that he sat on the couch with the air of a doctor informing me I had cancer, or worse, something«ethnic»? The fact that he gave me this news without explaining what it meant and I had to spell out to him«does this mean she’s afraid to cut my hair?» The fact that he responded by chuckling, making light of the whole thing, then asking me repeatedly if I wanted to reschedule after I said no? and I had to get my bag and coat in front of the whole salon? Riverstone, do everyone a favor, and give this man some training. In the meantime, I’ll give my cash and recommendations to a salon that would never employ a person so clueless that they would handle a situation like that. FYI, dude: the world is not divided into whites and«ethnics»(try looking up the word!): EVERYBODY has ethnic hair, EVERYONE belongs to an ethnos. Yes, even you, sir, even you. But way to make someone feel othered and like they were trying to drink out of the whites-only water fountain.

I experienced a really bad manicure at Riverstone. The entire time I was there the service provider told me that she does not do manicures very often. When it was over($ 45 later) it looked like a 5 year old did my nails. My nails were not filed properly, and my cuticles were worse than when I walked in. The salon is unwilling to refund the money. They offered that I could see another manicurist, but after reading reviews from other manicure experiences I am not interest in going back. I am disappointed because the service providers are wonderful and the space is beautiful. I thought that this would be my new spa home. I would not recommend a manicure at this place. However, I also had a brow wax and that was good, so if you want to chance your money I think they do other things well.

While I scheduled an appointment for nails for me and two friends on a Friday, when we arrived, we asked to receive different services than originally scheduled. The receptionist was incredibly helpful and made sure we could get everything done that we wanted in the time frame. It was a wonderful experience; it was laid back, clean, and the nail technicians were incredibly friendly. It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday!

After a spur of the moment urge to chop off my hair on a Thursday night at 7pm, I called around *everywhere* that had good ratings on here, and would be open until 9. No one was available. Then I got to Riverstone, and the super friendly receptionist made sure they got me in. They even went 20 minutes past closing time for me! As soon as I walked in, I loved the place. The feel is great, and the first thing asked was if I wanted anything to drink. I had a picture of how I wanted my hair, and Brooke Simenson cut it for me. I haven’t gone to a different hair stylist in 10 years. As nervous as I was, Brooke was so happy to help me. She’s amazingly nice, and kept asking if the lengths were okay, etc. I LOVE how it turned out, so much. It’s basically copied from the picture and pasted on my head! Definitely going back again, and I highly recommend!

Tamie’s kind of a genius with hair. I came in wanting a pretty drastic change — my instructions to her were«I want it much, much shorter but out of my eyes and I’m never ever ever going to blow dry it» and came away with a really cute cut that looks great no matter what I do to it and kept looking great as it grew out. And then I went back around 12 weeks later and she did it again. It’s so great having a stylist you trust and feel comfortable with.

I live in the neighborhood so I’ve been to Riverstone a few times. The space is gorgeous but the services vary wildly. I’ve had great luck with up-dos for weddings and big events but a simple cut was disappointing. I really want to support local businesses but I don’t have money or time to waste either.

I was looking for a salon in my neighborhood after a very negative experience at Mezzanine Salon. I am so glad I found Riverstone. I’ve had a cut and color with Katie twice now and am really happy with the results. She is particularly good with color and the prices are very reasonable. The head massage is also a nice plus. Makes me feel like they really care about my experience there. But perhaps more impressive to me is the nice little touches that set it apart in my mind. The space is warm and inviting and the people that work there are nice and unpretentious. Their hours are also very accommodating. And they offer you a wide choice of beverages, including beer or wine. I haven’t actually accepted that, but one of these days sipping on a glass of wine after work while I get my hair done is going to be just what I need. The other thing I would mention is that I think all of the stylists are also skilled and licensed to do waxing and other services(in addition to dedicated beauty staff), which provides a lot of flexibility and availability. I’ve gone in there on 10 minutes notice to get an eyebrow wax, which was much appreciated. This is a welcome change from Mezzanine where the esthetician only works certain days and hours, sometimes making it difficult to schedule and get in last minute if I needed.

On a quest to find a GREAT manicure and pedicure at a sanitary, relatively odor-free place that doesn’t break the bank, I found Kelly’s review on Riverstone Salon Spa. I don’t like the massage portion of mani/pedi’s(and therefore don’t want to pay for it) so I appreciated Riverstone’s «polish change» option — ½ hour services that include nail shaping and cuticle work. I also saw Lydia and agree that she was friendly, did a nice detailed job and was very gentle. Despite all of the signage to keep our voices low in the nail room, this was not the most relaxing experience I’ve ever encountered in a salon. A rowdy group of women came in for manicures(15+ minutes late for their appointments, nonetheless) carrying bottles of beer! I’m not sure if they brought them with — or were served them by the Spa — but it seemed really inappropriate. I was a little disappointed that the staff did not ask them to lower their voices. But then again, if you have to ask 40 something year-olds to behave properly in public, you’re probably starting something that won’t get you anywhere. At any rate, I’ll definitely go back to see Lydia. The salon décor itself — especially the nail room — was very calm and inviting. Perhaps a quieter crowd will be there next time I visit.

I am on the search for a fantastic pedicure, and that has led me to Riverstone Spa. What I appreciated: The nail room was separate from the rest of the salon. I relish getting my feet pampered, and I am so disappointed that most salons have their pedi stations in high traffic areas. The room was dimly lit and relaxing. My nail technician, Lydia, was friendly and did a very good job-detailed and gentle. They serve wine. Enough said. The prices were fair. $ 30 for the basic manicure and $ 55 for the basic, 60-minute pedicure. Reception was nice and helpful over-the-phone and in-person. I was greeted and offered a beverage. What was disappointing: I think I need to stop doing the upgrade for the hour pedicure, as I am always left un-thrilled about the massage portion. I am on my feet all day every day. They need some relief and they just never get it at a spa during a pedicure(My Reflexologist is where it’s at). During my service, one of the other service providers approached my nail tech and said, «Hey, I’m going to the gas station, want anything?» to which Lydia responded, «Yeah. Get me a Coke and a bag of Cheetos.» I was completely turned off. While I’m glad the co-workers are friendly with eachother, no one would ever accept interruption during a massage or facial, I don’t understand why nail or hair services are any different. Sure, there’s no door or wall between you and the public, but it’s still time and service that I am paying for and I expect complete presence. The décor was definitely done on the cheap. It was better than some tacky chop-shop, but it left plenty to be desired. Bottom-line. I’ll keep going back until I find a better place.
