Subpar but cheap if you order white rice. $ 4.99 gets you 2 large scoops of whatever meat or veggie dish you want + white rice. If you order fried rice then it’s considered a 3rd dish and that bumps you into the $ 7 range which is expensive in my book. So stick with 2 dishes and white rice and you’ll be golden. Just lower your expectations in taste because it’s a lot of brown sauce and sodium heavy. If you’re looking to get full for cheap and can accept lower standard fast food Chinese food, this can work.

To give this review some context, I have evidently had a Unilocal account since 2011 despite never posting a review. I lived in Downtown Minneapolis 7 – 8 years ago before relocating to the East Coast. My daily commute back then involved walking by this place that I only remembered for their giant egg rolls and generous portions. On a business trip this week working out of the Fifth Street Towers I remembered this place. I googled«Downtown Minneapolis Skyway Giant Eggroll» and the 4th result was Skyway Wok(which is a shame because there can’t possibly be three other places more relevant to giant eggrolls in DT Mpls than this one). The address seemed accurate, and one of the only 8 photos confirmed it with a picture of said giant eggroll. I locked my computer and walked over immediately. There was a short, but fast, line and then I was in front of the steam trays ordering fried rice, potstickers, and an egg roll for a very reasonable $ 7.19. Obviously you aren’t going to Skyway Wok for an authentic Szechwan/Mandarin/Cantonese/Xian experience… you are going for some of the best good-bad Chinese-ish food around at an inexpensive price point. It is exactly what you expect, no more, no less, and they don’t pretend to be anything else. They do what they have been doing for years, whether you like it or not, and given the perpetual line it seems a fair amount of people do indeed like it. So in conclusion, I am posting my first review on Unilocal ever because this place deserves more business. Googling«Giant Eggroll Minneapolis» doesn’t even put this place on the first page… some place in Northeast does though, and based on the photos their eggroll doesn’t even look that large, plus you probably have to go outdoors to get it. If even 1 in every 50 people that the Skyway Wok has served lunch to over the past 10+ years it would be the top result for all eggroll-related searches in the world(Note: this is a very approximate estimation based on my complete lack of understanding of how Google ranks search results). I’m also posting a picture of the storefront so that others in my situation can easily recognize that this is indeed the giant eggroll merchant that you remember.

I came here looking for fatty over sweetened sesame chicken and unfriendly customer service. Mission accomplished! When I usually walk by the lines are long but today they weren’t so gave it a try. I wouldn’t recommend.

This is a review for their recent menu addition(Vietnamese dishes). Although I’ve had the fast Chinese food here and it’s great as well! Very cheap, big portions, and delicious food. Skyway Wok recently expanded their spot and now has some staple Vietnamese dishes(to my great delight)! The menu has a vermicelli noodle salad with various choices of proteins, a phở dish with choices of protein, two other soups, and a few standard Asian appetizers. So far, I have had the beef phở, the chicken phở, the mi(egg noodle) soup, the vermicelli noodle salad with grilled chicken and eggroll. Everything is moderately priced. It’s comparable to other skyway/downtown restaurant options. Each time I have paid about $ 8-$ 9(after taxes) for a good size bowl of noodle soup or the vermicelli salad. It’s all very good and lighter fare than their Chinese options. The have seating inside their place as well as little 2-seat tables outside by the railing. I always take mine to go though so I can stuff my face in peace. I go here for lunch often when I am working. Haha. Maybe too often!!! :)

This place seems to put a big volume of food on your plate. I did not think it was particularly tasty. There was a lot of pasty rice, and the chicken was not very flavorful, and the vegetables looked exhausted. It was around 8 dollars. I will not go back.

I challenge anyone to find a better Chinese place in the Twin Cities for the price. All of their food is quite fresh because they go through it so quickly due to their popularity. I also appreciate that their food is different from your average Chinese place. Most other places have more or less the same food. Their egg rolls are the best I’ve had. Their spicy noodles are also excellent. I personally think that their breaded chicken items are way too sweet. That is probably the only negative thing I could say about the place.

I had the Szechuan chicken and fried rice. I didn’t even finish the chicken. The fried rice was decent. The chicken, not so much. I get that this place is cheap and serve in buffet style of food, but the chicken had too much breading and was way too sweet for my liking. I should have went over to the Phở section because I would’ve preferred that instead and I didn’t see it until after I was finished. I threw the entire thing away after a 5 bites.

2 Items $ 4.99($ 5.53 post tax) 3 items $ 6.49($ 7.19 post tax) 4 items $ 7.59(IDK on post tax, never been this hungry) Lines are always long during peak lunch hours so be prepared to wait. Since the egg rolls are so good they go fast. On several occasions I’ve had to wait; sometimes 2 mins, other times longer. If at all possible, get the petite lady with glasses to help you. She’s so much more generous with the helpings. I saw her give two people ahead 6 appetizer wings, where as in the past the young guys only gave me 4(WTH). Plus she gives enough rice and noodles to feed a family of 10(slight exaggeration). This place along with Keefer court are my favorites for Chinese fast food.

Been there several times and the place is packed with people, If you have a few minutes the line will move forward quickly. They give you heaping portions of food and you will not walk away hungry. A good place to get a quick meal at a cheap price.

2 items for under $ 6. I was standing in line right when they brought out the pan of Pad Thai from the back, so I ordered the Pad Thai and egg roll. Absolutely loved it! **The guy on here complaining about the egg rolls is nuts!**

Best noodles for cheap in the skyway!!! I am a sucker for greasy Chinese food, and I can’t argue with noodles and 2 items for $ 7.19. I decided to try their signature dishes, the spicy beef noodles, potatoes, and eggroll. I’d get all three again any day! Service is nothing extraordinary of course, had to ask for a bag, but cashier was friendly.

I almost always get the sesame chicken. Best I’ve ever had and I’ve had it at many places. Eggrolls are delicious also.

Two items were $ 6 something or so? No rice. Egg roll was huge but was just a big burrito of moosh and grease with zero flavor. Tasted like a deep fryer smells when it needs the oil changed. Sesame chicken had the consistency of a rock hard outside and chicken jerky inside. Speaking of jerky, I’ve had plenty that were juicier than their chicken. Sauce, there was none, and therefore no flavor. A big disappointment. The other Chinese restaurant in the skyway is ten times better. Which is saying a lot because I don’t like that one either.

When I worked downtown it was a bit of a hike to make it to Skyway Wok and back during lunch, but it was worth it. Eating at my desk was no problem. I usually just got an egg roll and some cheese wontons. Their egg roll is one of my favorites in the TC, on par with Lotus to Go Go, my number one fave. They had good lunch combo deals but unfortunately I can’t eat that much at this time so I’ve had to stick with the appetizers. But if they are any indication of the rest of their food I’ll definitely have to go back when I am able to give it a try, or at least be in a position to bring home leftovers.

Really cheap considering the location. It is typical food but you get A LOT of it. There are pork eggrolls. A box with two food items besides noodles cost me about $ 6 – 7.

Eating here more then once a month will likely give you a coronary and will lead to early death. However, its cheap, best lo mein in the skyway. The sesame chicken is pretty much covered with oil and caramelly tasting stuff. The spicy beef noodle is delish(Mon and Tues only). The service is barely there and fortune cookies cost 10 cents but hey, you get get 5000 calories in under $ 6. Its a deal. On Thursday they have really good potatoes, yes, at a Chinese place. Ive never tried it, but my coworkers rave about their egg-rolls, size similar to a small chipotle burrito. There is always a line so plan accordingly

This place always has a huge line, but it does move pretty fast. Was on the hunt for some won ton soup, unfortunately they didn’t have any soup so I settled for some fried rice and cream cheese won tons. Decent enough for lunch with really reasonable prices. Places to sit and they carry mineral water which can be hard to find. Nice place for a quick and inexpensive luch.

When you’re craving chinese, there is nothing better than Sesame Chicken, Spicy Noodles(not available on Thursdays) and an Eggroll. That being said, this place is terrible for you, health-wise. Avoid the noon hour rush unless you don’t mind standing in line!

I recommend Skyway Wok if you’ve forgotten to bring your lunch and want something cheap or you have a craving for cheap, generous servings of American Chinese food. It’s passable cheap Chinese food, but two items plus white rice for $ 5.20, tax included, is tough to beat. When I arrived at about 1PM, there was a bit of a line but service was quick. There seemed to be a good variety of items – some meat dishes, veggies, and noodles. I chose pot stickers and sesame chicken for my two items. They were a little light on the rice, but they definitely gave me a ton of chicken. The pot stickers were my favorite, lightly fried and accompanied by a dipping sauce. As has been noted before, the sesame chicken had a bit of sweetness to it that wasn’t my favorite. I’ll probably try some of their other varieties next time. It looked like you could get breaded chicken chunks and choose your own sauce, so I might try that. It’s definitely nothing special, but I’ve had some TERRIBLE Chinese food in Minnesota, so I think Skyway Wok deserves some props.

Found this place in the skyway and you can’t really beat the price. You can get a full lunch for under 5 bucks. They don’t have a huge selection, but enough to find something you like. They are very fast. Great option if you work downtown.
