The shakes are good, everything is overpriced and it takes them awhile to make it all. Nothing is really super healthy and that is what I was actually looking for when I went there. Today I tried the frozen yogurt with what I thought was fresh fruit on top. Careful, its all frozen fruit, from a bag. The yogurt was tasty but the fruit… not so much. $ 5.

Juice me! What Sola lacks in actually healthy & dairy-free smoothies, they make up for with yum-o freshly made juice. I’m partial to the apple-orange mix or anything with ginger. My problem with the smoothies is that every one includes either sherbet or frozen yogurt, neither of which I like to eat. Their milk choices are also only soy or cow, with sugary juice mixes as your alternatives. There hasn’t been a smoothie I’ve been impressed with yet, but I will give them points for having spirulina as an add-in. Superfoods FTW! I’ve tried their froyo before and was really into it. They’re a little stingy with your toppings, but what place isn’t? The only problem(?) is that they give you SOMUCH for even a small portion. Are you supposed to bring the large size to a group gathering? Anyway, make sure you get a punch card. Even though it’s for smoothies, I always convince them to give me punches for my juice. Healthy-ish treats, yeah!

I used to go to Sola a lot and told everyone I knew how awesome they were. However, over a period of a few years, they would close for renovations every time I turned around, so I couldn’t count on them even being open. But they seem to be back and rolling, and my last visit was speedy and delicious.(And so packed with real fruit that my teeth were covered in flakes of blueberry massacre afterward… you’ve been warned.) But back to the schizophrenia at Sola. I used to have nutritional information for their products, but they no longer have this after the last change-over. I’m not exactly crying over the loss of the weird«oats-cream» thing they were carrying for a while, and I was never one to care much about«boost» powders, but the constant closings only to come back with pretty much the same menu items for smoothies and juices is simply frustrating. And I’m still slightly hesitant to start recommending them again because I worry that the minute I do, they’ll be shuttered again. However, I will say this: I never go out for smoothies unless I’m going to Sola. I’m looking forward to having them regain my trust so that I can become their biggest cheerleader once again.

Love their convenient location in the IDS Center for a workday treat. I like their regular flavors like cake batter and vanilla. I’m not huge fan of their fruity and tart flavors. They have a great topping selection including fruits, granola, cereals, coconut, chocolate chips. Their prices are a little high. $ 4.00+ for a small frozen yogurt with one topping is the same price I can take for a half gallon of Edy’s ice cream.

Hmmmmm… can I feel a little less guilty about chowing down on sweets? I can! But honestly, only slightly less guilty as this place really isn’t any more-or-less healthy than regular frozen style treats… It just happens that unlike most others this isn’t a powdered substance that gets mixed with over processed cream in order to make it. My solution to the simple issue of not getting HUGE from eating here is to get smoothies instead! They mix in fruit juice, fruit, ice, and then you get your choice of some mixes they have there that all do different things.(Energy, Weightloss, Immunity, etc). The smoothies are SOOOOOO good! However, for the $ 5 I could have spent at Subway, a smoothie should only be gotten if you are planning on using it as a meal replacement… On a cool note, the people that work here are at least very knowledgable about what they are serving! It’s a nice change as opposed to asking the people at Cold Stone what exactly is in their ice cream…((I could tell you, but you would never eat there again. Seriously.))

Yum! I was always a loyal Jamba Juice fan until they left downtown so a friend suggested Sola. I went with the Peach Tree. It was delicious! $ 4 for a tasty treat, I’ll take that!

I think if you pay attention, you realize that Sola Squeeze is not for ice cream people. It’s for people who want to be pretend to be healthy while chubbing on something that eases their guilt-ridden food conscience. Jiminy Cricket in my head: You probably should save your damn money and quit making your ass bigger. Me: But Jiminy, I just got paid and I’m going to the gym after work. Jiminy Cricket: Oh. Well. Ok then. But only if you get some kiwi on it. That’s a fruit, you know. Which is to say, Sola Squeeze has quite tasty yogurt-like soft serve with great fruit toppings that they heap on in perfect amounts. If they’d just have the tart original more often, I’d probably give them a 5.

There use to be a Sola Squeeze in the MSP airport. And I was a Flight Attendant for a major Minneapolis company, so I would often find myself at Sola Squeze. Sadly ther have been repaced by an overpriced French Like Bakery. But I remember how tasty the Mocha Wake Up Was.

Me: oooh– is that ice cream? Sola Lady(SL): actually it’s different kind of ice cream made of oat and water so people who are diabetic and lactose intolerance can eat it. Me: I get stomach aches– I’ll try it! SL: Vanilla or Chocolate? Me: Vanilla Me after 1 bite: oooh, this is good Me after another: eh, actually this isn’t so good Me after yet another bite: This is disgusting… I think I’ll stick with real ice cream.
