I’ve been here for almost 2 years now, and planning to move in August. I’ve only lived in one place before this in Minneapolis, but the landlords here are by far a godsend compared to the ones I had before. 1. Super friendly: Kelly in the office is so friendly, how she remembers us when we just stop in maybe once a month is amazing, and all of the staff has always been really helpful. I was getting a package for xmas that was really important, and I stopped earlier in the day(they call you when a package comes) and the one I was hoping for didn’t come, but the office guy assured me he would call me that night if it came in. True to his word, he called at 5:30 to tell me it was there. Also, I locked my keys in my car, and luckily the office was open, but I walked over to ask if they could let me in my apartment to get my spare key. Not a problem. 2. As Melissa posted, responsive: We haven’t had any major break down other than our a/c unit. Someone came to fix it, and it still wasn’t working a couple hours later, and someone else came that same day and replaced it with a brand new one. Any fixes we have needed have been taken care of within the same day or the next day. And they didn’t seem to mind my cats walking all over them. We have only made a tiny complaint about noise upstairs. They were apologetic and the next time we were in the office they recognized us and told us that they followed up and called the renters. I do want to say that our apartment is west facing. so the evening sun roasts the place in the summer. The walls are nice and thick but it’s like a microwave in here sometimes. In the winter, it gets pretty chilly. We called the office once last winter because our heat was below 60. You get your own thermostat but I don’t think it really does much in the dead of winter. If they upgraded the windows that might help. Otherwise, plenty of sunshine but be prepared for extreme temperatures. Overall we have loved living here. The neighborhood is great and I’m sad to leave. The reason we are leaving is because we want a 2 bedroom and maybe find a place that isn’t apartment living. The 2 bedrooms here are just too expensive for us. If you are looking for an apartment in the NE/University area, St Anthony Apts are the place to look. Nothing but good things to say about them.

So I’m into my second year of living here, and I have to say, they are some of the best landlords I’ve ever had. Why? Three reasons: 1. Responsive: Every time me or my boyfriend — who lives one building over from me — call about a broken something or other, they come to fix it within a day or two. My next door neighbor is super loud at night, even though there is a 10pm quiet time. Trying to engage him in conversation about this failed, so I called the rental office and ask them to intervene. They were apologetic about it, but the fact they took me seriously was pretty awesome. 2. Super friendly: I have even called to ask to drop off packages in my apartment — they usually hold them in their office — because I wouldn’t make it back from work by 6 that evening. It was a few days before Christmas so I needed to wrap and mail gifts last minute. They said no problem, and when I got home late that evening, the packages were waiting inside my apartment. 3. Responsible: During city emergency snow plowings, they will post signs up letting people know ahead of time to not park on the street. A lot of renters are students, and a lot of their policies reflect that. Before the winter break, they posted signs letting people know that they could drop off their car keys in case the parking lot needed to be plowed. I had to fly home one weekend and knew that they were going to plow, so I left my keys with them. True to their word, they moved my car while they plowed the lot and returned it to the lot. Downsides are the severe penalties for breaking a 12-month lease, but if you plan on sticking around Minneapolis for a while, you can’t go wrong. Also, being located right next to the Nordeast neighborhood, you’re a walk away from a lot of cool places like the Red Stag, Punch’s, Surdyk’s, i like you!
