Very fun place to go to on Tuesday nights! The happy hour goes late and there’s karaōke! The happy hour has great selections with more than half of the hour d’vours menu on it, with very low prices and fair portions. The service is great, servers are gracious and talkative even though it can get pretty loud and busy. Even noticed that one of the employees went up to sing karaōke on his break, and he was actually very good! :) Surprisingly didn’t order drinks but got the shrimp spring rolls($ 3 – 4?), pot stickers, edamame($ 2 – 3?), and spicy tuna rolls. All were so well proportioned, quality taste, with yummy signature sauces to go with each one. 4 stars well awarded! Bike parking is very good, with full posts right outside the parking ramp on the ground floor. There’s also bike posts along Lake Street and Hennepin too near the entrances. Car parking isn’t too hard, it’s just connected to Calhoun Square. Make sure you park on the top floor of the ramp because then it’s a quick walk in and Tango is right after the entrance! Awesome place, definitely coming back!

My friend and I went in for Happy Hour last night. We got two orders of wontons, edamame, three rolls, and three drinks for $ 35. What a deal! Food came out super fast and was amazing as always! Although our server was very awkward and didn’t seem to know what he was doing(maybe he was new?) My friend had to ask twice to correct her drink which wasn’t a big deal. Then once the rolls came out my friend asked what each one was(since it was her first time there) and the server had no idea, so I had to explain them. Then he picked one up off our plate with his bare hands and tried to guess what it was… Other than that, I strongly suggest going here!

Overpriced, not very good. Small happy hour menu, mostly drinks for happy hour and not sushi

We were there for a special promo, so the wait was long to get a table and the wait for sushi was even longer, but they handled it well, warning us and checking on us periodically. We only had sushi and drinks and everything was delicious. Our sushi options included the Thai Tuna, California Roll and Vegas Roll. All were loved by the group. I do have to try this place during happy hour! The prices looked great(and it’s noon to close on Sunday!). I would say the sushi was typical fare, so nothing to write home about, but nothing to avoid. We will go again!

We went here for a customer appreciation event and clearly a popular promo… it was packed. We were told that the wait would be 4 – 5 hours but it ended up being 1 ½, which gave us time to walk around uptown a bit. After checking back in with where we were on the list, it turned out, they couldn’t even find our name but they were able to seat us anyway. Most of the servers(*most) were very friendly and even though we had to wait awhile for the sushi, we were given plenty of forewarning. Our server was great and checked up on us periodically, despite being crazy busy. We had Japanese beers, a California roll, Vegas Roll, and Thai Tuna which was not overly filling but still satisfying and delicious. All three rolls(and the two different types of beer) were loved by our group. Sushi is expensive no matter where you go, so the prices are as expected. They seem to have a great happy hour though, until 7 Monday through Wednesday and 6 Thursday through Saturday, and noon to close on Sunday. Happy hour prices seem more than reasonable so it will definitely be a place that I’ll be frequenting again during happy hour times! There are lots of tables and a couple different rooms, plus full bar, sushi bar, and patio.

The salmon skin sushi roll is delicious and I can’t find it anywhere else. Sadly, nothing else on the menu is noteworthy. The gome needs more sauce and the sashimi needs less. They do have a lot of Chinese-American standards for your friends who are afraid of Japanese food, so that’s nice.

Great place for cheap sushi and apps. They have basically a 24⁄7 happy hour, I mean it’s hard to miss. It’s definitely a lot cheaper than going across the street to Origami, but I can tell the difference. The staff is super nice and sweet, but there’s a reason why their fish is so cheap. I’d come here only if a friend suggests it, otherwise, I’ll gladly pay a bit more for better quality fish.

I am so sick of this place. Have been here quite a few times, and each time the experience is worse than the last. My husband and I usually come in for happy hour. The drinks are decent, sushi is good though a little overpriced for the quantity. Whatever. Whether this place is busy or dead, the service is horrible. We just came by this evening. Had to wait 10 minutes for a table, no big deal. After we were sat, it took another 20 minutes for our server to make it to our table. All of this while the manager stood at the host stand staring off into space. Realizing that we’d probably have to wait 20 minutes for everything we decided to leave. We parked in the deck and decided to take our money elsewhere. Walked over to Stella’s. It’s 3x as busy here and we were sat immediately and had our drinks in hand within 3 minutes. You lost us for good, guys.

Celebrated my girlfriend finishing her first midterms of her Nursing Masters Program we headed over to Amazing Thailand but it was closed and there was a group of people standing out front that suggested Sushi Tango as «One of the best happy hours in uptown» We stopped by and cleared the menu OUT! LOTS of $ 3 drink specials and 2 happy hours per day with loads of sushi rolls and appetizers to pick from at very reasonable prices. $ 60 later we had tried just about everything on the menu… Drinks: House Malbec — REALLY good for $ 5 /carafe Hot Sake — $ 5 for a carafe and was the perfect thing for me to get in and out of the cold :) got a little tipsy and warmed me right up Sushi: Dynamite(8 pcs) — Good! Caterpillar(8 pcs) — Good! Crunchy Spicy Tuna(8pcs) — Good! Kamanawanarollya(8pcs acquired taste) Appetizers: Edamame — nice and salty! Shrink Spring rolls — would definitely get these again! Good size and tasty with the dipping sauce! Our waitress was excellent and offered great service and even brought us some thai chili peppers which we added to our spring roll dipping sauce to REALLY spicy it up a bit. All in all great environment, service, and reasonably priced good food especially for what you usually have to pay for sushi. Thanks! We’ll be back!

A great sushi spot with the vibe of a party! I ordered the yummy roll(tuna) and cooked salmon roll, which I forgot the name of. My friend ordered her own, and got miso soup as an appetizer. I tried the miso soup and it was alright. Filled with tofu cubes and seaweed, but was a little bit too much on the salty side. The yummy roll was good, but the cooked salmon roll I had was amazing! The cooked salmon roll had a lot of texture and flavors. It definitely fulfilled my cravings for the night. All the times I was there, the space was neat and clean. The restaurant space size is okay. There are areas to sit at the bar and sushi bar. There are a lot of 2 people seating tables. However, I seem to see only one area where they seat big groups every time I’m there. So, if you want to dine in with a big group, I would recommend to reserve ahead of time. I always received good to great customer service from the waiters and waitresses. They are really friendly. Probably one of the few places where I tip every time because I was well taken of. The environment of the restaurant, especially during the night, can get loud and lively. Overall, Sushi Tango is a great place to eat with a date or with a couple of friends. One of my top spots to eat sushi. However, if I’m not in the mood for the loud environment, I would go somewhere else.

Incredibly bad service. We had 6 people. Not a huge party, but multiple surrounding tables who arrived AFTER us were served BEFORE we were. It took 45 minutes to see any food. Can’t even get water refilled. 6 appetizers, 5 arrived. Find server to sort it out. 9 sushi items, 8 arrived. Server just totally overwhelmed by his job. Ask for the check, server brings check with last sushi dish in a to-go box. And yeah, it was on the bill too. The food? We were hungry and we ate it, but meh.

I think it’s safe to say that this might be the worst sushi restaurant I have ever been to. They put mayo or a mayo like sauce on everything. The fish didn’t taste great and the rolls were small. Two sushi rolls took over 1 hour to come out on a Thursday night and then the waiter disappeared. We had more drinks than sushi this night. The service was terrible and the sushi was bad. I wouldn’t step foot in here again.

Fabulous Happy Hour. Pretty good sushi. Really yummy gyoza. Worst. Service. Ever. Consistently. In particular the larger, male bartender. Sorry. Had to call him out. Plus you are never greeted in a timely fashion. Ugh… I can’t go on. It’s Sunday and I would like a drink and a snack. Not. At. Sushi Tango. Ever. Again.

I visited Sushi Tango on a Tuesday night around 6pm with a group of 4 people. I’m not from Minneapolis but the locals really talked up karaōke night at Sushi Tango… but that doesn’t get started until much later in the evening so I can’t speak to how awesome the karaōke is. But with the right amount of drinks and the right crowd… I do love belting out«Let it go» karaōke style. :) Sushi Tango has an awesome Happy Hour menu. I started off with a glass of their house wine even though my table criticized me for not ordering sake… but I really wanted wine! Their house wine was a Malbec and it was medium-bodied, not too dry, and satisfying. I ended up ordering several more glasses. Our table ordered an array of small plate appetizers that we all shared. Everything was great but the eggs rolls and asparamaki(asparagus wrapped in thinly sliced beef and covered in a BBQ type sauce) were most memorable. We also ordered several rolls. I had requested a crab tempura roll that was pretty good even the rest of my table wasn’t a fan of anything tempura… psh! If you ever in Minneapolis and in the mood for sushi, I’d definitely recommend Sushi Tango!

Great Happy Hour menu! I went with four others on a subdued Tuesday night and we feasted off the happy hour menu. We tried both the tuna and steak tataki — thin, marinated slices seasoned to perfection — spring rolls(shrimp/pork with a decent mix of greens and rice noodles), gyoza(pan fried is the way to go!), egg rolls(a bit…“petite”). We also ordered a number of rolls, some very good, some not so. to my liking(crab tempura rolls or anything with cream cheese in it). We then ordered a few things off the normal menu: the asparamaki — asparagus spears wrapped in thinly sliced beef and chicken wings, served with three different sauces. All in all, a fun experience with beer and sake(go cold!!) If you do stick around on Tuesday nights, they do have karaōke, which can be a lot of fun. It starts at 10pm, but things don’t usually get going until around 11pm.

This place has the best beef tatake! It can get a lite spendy here so I recommend coming for happy hour. They’ve got a delicious sea laab & delicious sushi. This place is pretty popular with the Asian community. I don’t blame them for coming here. Great sushi & delicious sake. Did I mention they serve Hennessy as well? There is plenty of parking because it’s located I Calhoun square so it’s connected to the convenient parking ramp.

I like to consider myself a sushi connoisseur so I decided to try out this place. This is the first time I’ve ever gone out for sushi in the later hours of the night. We arrived around 11pm and were able to order off the happy hour menu. More basic rolls like spicy salmon, Philly, spicy tuna, etc were only $ 5 while specialty rolls ranged from $ 8 – 10. To me, these were great prices. We were a party of 8 people and were seated right away because it was so late and a Wednesday night I’m assuming. The restaurant was modern with high top tables and a bar. They were playing great throwback songs by artists like Backstreet Boys and Spin Doctors. Our waiter was friendly and checked up on us regularly, the only complaint I have is regarding how long it took to receive our drinks. After looking over the menus(happy hour and regular) I had a good feel for the variety offered. The full menu had a huge selection of delicious sounding rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and appetizers like spring rolls and gyoza. I made the decision to take advantage of the happy hour deals since that’s why we went in the first place, so I ordered the caterpillar roll and the spicy salmon roll. My friend Sara ordered the shrimp gyoza so I was able to try that as well. While I’ve definitely had better sushi, I’ve often had much worse. The fish tasted fresh enough and the rolls exploded with flavor. The spicy salmon had a nice kick to it and the caterpillar roll was sweet. I was careful not to dip too much in the soy sauce for fear of taking away from flavors intended for the roll. I was satisfied with my order but not blown away. I would love to return and try more items on the menu, especially the rolls specific to their venue and to see what kinds of sashimi are offered.

I was downtown and wanted to eat something after the art fair. Since I was parked in the lot right by sushi tango, well the choice was obvious. On the other hand I wanted my kids to try some sushi, since last time they ate most of mine. Usually this place is little crowded, but today it wasn’t and I decided to sit in the patio, since I didn’t see my favorite bartender. They call him«Mama», you might have seen him here or at Crave too. We got a nice spacious table for 3 of us and it was nice and clean. The atmosphere was great for a quite dinner with couple of 6 years old(yes, that is an oxymoron). Our waiter showed up pretty quickly to take our beverage order, and was very courteous. Kids had lot of questions, enough for the waiter to run out of answers :) all because they didn’t have Mountain Dew for me. I ordered some specialty salmon roll, and some salmon sashimi. My son was full from eating the cheese curds and corn dog from the fair, but my daughter wanted some egg rolls. It doesn’t matter what she orders, cause she likes to eat off my plate. Now this is where they lost a star, my sushi and sashimi came long before the eaggrolls. And egg rolls were on the appetizer menu. By the time egg rolls came my daughter is already full from couple of the sushi. She loves to play with chop sticks and getting better at it, even without the rubber band at the end. She did try couple bites of the egg rolls, we ended up taking it home since we were short on time. But overall, it was a great experience, very nice little place, clean and great atmosphere. I have lost count for how many times I have been there, but i never had a bad experience. I would highly recommend this place.
