I’m a drinker. And I love to entertain. I am in here generally more times per week than I can admit in polite company. But if I’m going to have the dubious honor of being a full fledged Regular at a liquor store, this is really not a bad one to associate with. For a neighborhood liquor store in the hood, it really has a surprisingly wide selection. No, I can’t get 30 year Islay Scotch there or anything, but whether I’m looking for a big old case of cheap beer, a mid-range bottle of spumante, or four different flavors of Smirnoff for some summer-y lemonade drink, they’ve got me covered. And the people there are always friendly and helpful. I only docked a star because they could do a much better job of chasing away the pan-handlers and pirated DVD salesmen out front. Seriously, people, at least pretend you’re not spending my charity on your liver. This corner of Penn and Lowry Aves N is really starting to become something nice, and I hope this old neighborhood stalwart hangs on and is lifted by the rising tide.
