I came to to Uppercut with zero boxing experience and very little gym experience. Lisa and the other trainers were friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. Overall great gym and great atmosphere. Boxing is super fun, and the classes are a great way to get in shape and learn a new sport.

Uppercut is truly a special place, and what other reviewers say is true: everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level or familiarity with boxing, and it is a fun, challenging, and empowering workout! Even if you never thought about boxing before, you may be surprised at how much you enjoy it. As a young(ish) woman I was a bit intimidated to step into an old school boxing gym, but my concerns were completely unnecessary. Kudos to owner Lisa Bauch for creating a great environment for everyone to learn and train!

I heard that the Uppercut Gym is the most renowned orthodox boxing facility here in the Twin Cities and the largest in the Midwest. Professionals boxers workout here, as well as amateurs who wanna box. and wannabes.who want to try out boxing! .um yup, I guess that would be me… I am actually a gentle soul, who practice yoga daily and take her spirituality seriously and did not think I had it in me to box… but …I really, really enjoyed it! It was the first time I tried boxing, and I did feel very empowered. I was there for a special class for women, taught by women boxers. By the way, the gym is owned by a former professional woman boxer! How awesome is that! The instructors did a fantastic job, as it was paced just right. As for spirituality, people are really seriously working out here, giving it there all. The place is filled with energy and spirit. I’m still a yogi, but this will be the place I’ll come again, if I feel the urge box and who knows, I just might! Yes, the answer to your question is yes, this is hardcore, and an awesome workout.
