Have eaten dinner here and today had breakfast. The food both times was so good. I’m glad we got there at 930 this morning though because the lobby was packed when we left.

The Uptown Diner has come a long way since the dark days of 2011. Then, I went to breakfast with friends and after a perfectly reasonable time for three people to order and eat a meal, maybe 40 minutes was asked by the waitress to leave to make room for the all of three people waiting for tables. We did leave, and then Come Monday I called the manager to raise hell. At first I got some babble on issue but in the end got all 50 or so bucks back the three of us had paid to eat. A recent experience there(it took me that long to come back) was better. Decent coffee, great service, nice ham and cheese omelet with some tasty done just right hash browns. From what I see I would recommend it for sure. Priced right too, which can be hard to come by in this area.

This is about as classic a greasy spoon as you’ll find in the Uptown area. You don’t go there to be adventurous. You go there because you know exactly what you want, and they know exactly how to make it for you. And let’s be honest. You go there for the breakfast. I’ve always had stellar service. They’re quick on coffee refills and are attentive with everything else. My Lady and I have spent many a brunch there, feasting on carmel apple waffles and the excellent country fried steak and eggs(remember Patton Oswalt’s great routine about the KFC bowls? That’s how I feel about country fried steak and eggs from Uptown Diner… just mix it all together and inject it into my femoral artery with a caulking gun). Their eggs Benedict is really good, as well. In a rare fit of wild adventurism, we once ordered lunch there. She got blackened catfish and I got a burger. The burger was just average, and the catfish was too salty for her liking(I didn’t think it was too bad). But we decided after that meal that we’d stick with the breakfast menu. And it’s never let us down.

Decided to check out this local diner after seeing their Groupon. It was Sunday just after noon so I was expecting it to be packed, but the zero degree temps had stifled their typical rush somewhat. I found a seat at the counter, and a friendly rainbow-haired waitress immediately brought a menu.(Throughout my visit, I was called pumpkin, sweetie, and hun.) After ordering coffee, a cinnamon roll to-go, and the #3 combo, I opened a book, expecting a decent wait. The coffee was out in seconds and the food just minutes after that. While I was expecting the poached eggs to be the highlight, they were outshined by the honey-wheat toast. Thick, warm, buttered slices of perfection. Sausage links were above average, but to be honest I was a little disappointed by the hash browns. A little too crispy in some places, and not quite done enough in others. That’s the only reason I didn’t give five stars. I could only eat about half, so the $ 19 bill felt more than justified. Also, I expected that sitting at the counter might prompt too many«are we doing ok here?» questions, but was pleasantly surprised. TL;DR: good food, fast service, friendly staff, will return.

Our waitress with rainbow hair was absolutely wonderful! However the rest of our experience was not. Upon arriving, I gave a smile to the waiter at the host stand. He looked up, made eye contact, looked unhappy to see me and promptly looked back down without saying hello. He then walked away back to the bar which is his section(we’ve been before). I waited about 10 minutes for any acknowledgement! It wasn’t even busy. The quality of food seems to have really gone down. My Cajun Breakfast with no cheese was way too greasy. The Crabcake Benedict was made of imitation crab– in past visits it was real. This should be noted in the menu.

It’s a pretty standard diner, but it would be nice if the menu were more extensive as is typical at diners.

I just moved in the area and first off I LOVE that Uptown Diner is 24 hours… aka the perfect option for late night drunk snacks. Even in the morning. I’d really go here whenever — it’s like a perkins feel to me, but nicer servers and better food. So far I tried the chocolate chip cookie dough pancakes which were super good, the Caprese eggs benedict — yum, and the chocolate chip cookie dough malt/shake(my friend got it and I tried hers). The shakes are yummy! Also, the sweet potato tots are delish… my kind of tater tots. The last time I was there, the wait time was less than 10 minutes, not even joking. The servers are super nice and helpful, and food is always out fast. I’ll definitely keep coming here!

There are many things here that I have ordered that I do not like at all, however it still gets five stars in my book and here is why: Service-10 stars-the people who with here are awesome, funny, friendly and attentive yet not over bearing Shakes-10 stars-lots of different flavors and they make a killer banana split milkshake-chocolate, strawberry and pineapple mmm Food-my go to is the veggie burger with pepper jack cheese and sweet potato tater tots. It hits the spot every time and there are enough tater tots for four people to share. I usually go to Uptown Dinner for dinner but have also been there once for brunch. I e never had a cinnamon roll even though they look delicious! I never have enough room with my shake because that fills me up every time! Those shakes are so good! I think I need to head there now and get one!

The omelet with mushrooms is fantastic, I met a client for breakfast and it was great. Funky crowd and very friendly wait staff.

The first time I went to Uptown Diner it was after working a really long day on July 4th. My friend and I were to busy throughout the day that we didn’t get much time to eat and we were starving. Luckily Uptown Diner is open 24hrs!!! When you are starving in the middle of the night there is nothing better than that. The food is also delicious. After my initial visit I have gone back a few times and I have never been disappointed. I have had the Carnita Benedict, Spicy Cajun Benedict, and the Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes, and all of them are very flavorful. Wait time: It usually does not take me more that 10 –15 min to be seated for brunch. If you are short on time I recommend calling ahead. Parking: They have a few spots reserved for customers in the parking lot next to the restaurant. For anyone who knows the uptown area you know this is key!

I am on a pancake binge and heard about the cookie dough pancakes. I knew right what I wanted and ordered it immediately. Service was kinda nonchalant and nonexistant– they weren’t rude or slow or anything, just very straight up. My pancake was disappointing– very little cookie dough. Lots of whipped cream on top. It was nothing special. I ate half of it, paid and left. Might be back to try the pineapple one at some point but I’m in no hurry to come back. I do like the whole breakfast-all-day thing.

I really want to love this place, which is why I keep giving them another chance. They’ve consistently messed up my order, I’ve had to go back 4⁄5 of the last times I’ve gotten takeout because they’ve messed something up. I’ve gotten rotten waffle fries and all they did was ask if we wanted more. They do nothing to make their mess ups better, sometimes don’t even offer to replace it. I love their gyro omelette and sweet potato tater tots but they always seem to mess it up somehow. For example, I get egg whites, no cheese, extra tzatziki. They didn’t give me egg whites or no cheese. Also don’t expect much from the manager. I’d say the service is so-so, but the manager is one of the worst. He’s defensive and refuses to admit when he messes up. I wish another place would make a gyro omelette and sweet potato tater tots and I’d never go back!

Its a diner that is pretty forgettable but not bad. I have been here a few times, both for breakfast and late night dining. The service is forgettable but not bad. The food is average(not great, not bad). There seems to be a overall lack of late night eateries in the area, so for past bar close this place is great for that! They have a good selection and prices making it a good place to just get a decent meal anytime of day.

Come to uptown diner if you want: — Delicious breakfast food — Friendly service — Fair price — Generous portions — Wanting 2 people to take up the biggest booth(because of self seating) Let’s be real here. Uptown diner has some SERIOUS food with some SERIOUS portions. I’m SERIOUS. I ordered the Carnitas Benedict, let me just say that their hollandaise game is ONPOINT; they don’t mess around here with the SAWSE. My sister-in-law ordered the veggie burger with sweet potato tots and she was greeted with a MOUNTFUJIPORTION of tots; I went to grab one and almost died in the avalanche. The server was friendly and knowledge and had killer calves from walking around a lot, SERIOUS. The only thing I didn’t like was the self seating. The biggest booth in the place was taken by 2 people. TWOPEOPLE. What you need that much room for? Why yo purse so big? You wanna fart and have no one notice? Damn get in a smaller booth. Anyways to sum it up: You’ll feel deliciously fat here.

Hit this place a little after noon on a Wednesday and thought it a pretty nice entry in the diner sweepstakes. Looks like a diner and serves food like a diner. so what’s not to like. Two of us had breakfast and one had lunch… all were good. One breakfast was simply eggs and sausage… eggs done right, cheap sausage just ok but nothing special, pumpernickel toast very good, and fresh squeezed OJ just that and very nice. The other breakfast was eggs and steak… eggs done right and the steak the stand out as it was tender and cooked perfectly and had no gristle or fat. Both of us had the hash browns which were disappointing as they were so soft and mushy… could have been cooked just a bit longer. Coffee was also a standout… started out strong as it was our first of the day but as we woke up it was just perfect. The other meal was chicken tenders… the tenders were the cheap thin frozen kind that were just ok. It was chicken but just barely… they certainly weren’t chicken strips. The waffle fries on the other hand were a winner… crispy on the outside and meaty on the inside and plentiful. So this meal was both good and bad. All in all this was a good visit. Diner food served hot and fast when you are hungry. Our server Clint was sparse but spot on… he didn’t waste any time. We’d go again.

One of the few places I can find that serves breakfast all day, every day. On weekends, they’re open 24 hours. That’s tough to beat. Uptown Diner has a great menu, with some surprising treats. My favorite dish has got to be the carnitas benedict. The atmosphere is that of a diner, which is a compliment. The staff are all friendly and conscientious. Definitely give Uptown Diner a shot.

Coming from NJ I was excited to check out this place. I’ve been craving great diner food and this place looks awesome from the outside, but the experience was overall disappointing. We showed up around midnight on a Saturday night and I was excited to order some typical post-bar food. The service was a bit blasé(they didn’t seem particularly excited to have customers) but we ordered a variety of things. My burger was hugely disappointing. The patty was unfortunately flavorless and overcooked. The breakfast that my friends had ordered looked better, so maybe I made the wrong choice. In the end, I think there’s better diner-style food in town.

Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes, Tex Mex /Farmers, Minnesota Omelette. That’s whats up, and anything with their waffle fries. I’ll be honest, I’ve never been here before 1AM on weekends in my early twenties. But everytime I go, it is on point. The food portions are huge, so you can share with your other friends that may be slightly intoxicated. People watching is fun here too at the right time. I sort of call this place«last chance diner,» because there are some people that walk around hitting on people that they struck out… from wherever they came from(club, lounge, etc.). Yes it is kind of funny that you have to stand in line sometimes at 3am for a table but it’s a part of the charm of this little corner diner nestled in the heart of Hennepin. The caramel /pecan rolls, take one home with you and try it out. It’s got a kind of odd addicting quality to it. Not many 24 hour places besides chains in the city and glad this one provides the alternative. Only near the weekends though are they open late /early.

Awesome breakfast food! Went here for Mother’s Day and everyone was pleased with the service and food! The price is super right for the portions you get! The wait was not long and our order was correct! We ordered: Simple french toast with pure maple syrup & blueberries Crab cake eggs Benedict Catfish breakfast Will definitely return! They have their own parking lot so finding a space was not a problem! Wish I would have found this place sooner!

I came here for some late night munchies after a night out. This isn’t just your mom and pop diner, it’s actually a trendy place! Nice ambience and cute décor. I ordered the steak and eggs combo. It came with toast and hash browns. So, toast in general is nothing exciting, but this was some good quality toast– probably my favorite thing on the plate. It wasn’t your average wheat toast. Hash browns were nice and crispy. The steak was okay, but could’ve used a little more seasoning. The food my friends ordered looked amaze. I tried a piece of pancake and it was wonderfully fluffy. Also tried a waffle fry which was delish. Our waiter was awesome. He was nice and funny without trying too hard. He checked up on our table a few times which was nice. I would come back to try more items on the menu. It’s an ideal late night spot!
