Wonderful little place! The buffalo shrimp had just the right amount of zing and the sides were great The service was excellent as well. We’ll be back!

Great food! It is nice to have something with a variety of seafood so close by. They’ve recently started doing specials every night, which is great. The menu selections can get a little pricey(which I expect from being a local seafood place) so the specials help make it a more affordable option.

Went here for dinner tonight. It was our first time here. We have lived in Joliet for our entire lives and never heard of this place(8 miles from home). Stumbled across it online and decided to go. I can not express how delicious our food was! Started with the lobster bisque, yum! I had the linguine with grilled shrimp in a white wine garlic sauce… a very light lemony taste… good! My husband had the combo of grilled alligator and fried catfish. I usually do NOT like cat fish. I must say, this was very tasty! We finished off our night with the drunken brownie… need I say more? The owner/chef, Robert, came out to inquire about our meal. I had nothing but compliments! Absolutely delicious! Will be going here more often :)

Well… I have one word for that place, GREASY! We were so excited to try this place on recommendation by friends, everything was either burnt to a crisp or soaked in really old grease. Disappointed to say the least.

Place is amazing. Best fried catfish I have ever had. Honey stung chicken and walleye was great as well. Best seafood in the area

Time and time again my husband and I come to this place and have nothing but enjoyment. Hard to find a place that has a variety of fish let alone fish at all. I pick my wine and tell the cook/owner to surprise me with a pairing and he always complements the wine just right. Its a Minooka secrete if you ask me, always over looked by the community. I highly recommend it if you like the idea of a small, family friendly restaurant where the owner and his family knows your name and knows your taste. We are always greeted with a smile since the day we have gone in there.

Food was tasteless and overdone. Service was extremely slow. Restaurant was so cold, we gad to wear our coats inside while eating dinner. Do not recommend to anyone!

Oh my goodness! How great to find fresh seafood that isn’t coated with delicious batter. We had the lake perch & scallops combo. You can choose from 4 different fish. Cole slaw best ever. Home made sauces which we tried but fish was so good you don’t even need them. Apple fritters were like a dessert. They make their own soups & sauces. Fish is fresh. Robert greated us with great history of th bld & eager to please. This is a gem. So many original things have been left. Its an easy find just blocks off I-80. Can’t wait to pass thru again just for this food & atmosphere. Lots of grilled options too.

They definitely get an A+ for the ambiance… it really does look like the place is an old barn. The décor on the inside is pretty cool — kind of a country theme with lots of vintage stuff on the walls. The food, also an A+. I had shrimp(of course) jumbo fried with coleslaw. I wasn’t blown away by it, but it was definitely good. Was served piping hot and fresh. Service was kind of a let down. They had 2 servers taking care of the whole dining room, and they both seemed like they were barely in high school. I’m not being too critical here, because Minooka is a small town and I am sure it’s hard to find really good adult servers. But, overall our experience was good, and I would definitely come back again!

Our 1st time coming here since its been the Shrimp Barn. My wife and I were both impressed and the kids were happy so all was good. Place has an antique theme where the chairs are a hodgepodge, etc. They offer gluten-free pasta and have a large selection of seafood by the ½ pound. I had an Italian sausage sandwich that was awesome. They do have craft beer in bottles but it is mostly Abita. Also a large selection of Illinois wines. A smaller, unique place that I would recommend.
