Emerald Coast Urgent Care of Destin

When a medical issue occurs and it happens during non-​business hours of my family physician’s office, I have gone to Emerald Coast Urgent Care in Miramar Beach. I am thankful for their business being open on the weekends! I have been there 3 or 4 times, each time being seen by a different physician and every time I felt the physician and staff did a great job.

Best urgent care visit EVER…
Friendly, easily took our insurance for our daughter (made sure I had her card, check), saw us promptly. Thorough check out… very pleased with them seeing her and this visit…
Total time her, about 40 min, awesome …
Will absolutely use again, no doubt if a Minor issue…

Perfect experience. Walked in, filled out forms, headed back to see doc, sinus infection, got script zapped across the street at CVS. Beginning to end 30 min. Highly recommend.

Emerald Coast made us pay in full, saying they didn’t accept our insurance. We paid in full and asked for details so we could submit a claim with our insurance carrier, we were told we didn’t need to, they submitted the claim for us as a courtesy. Courtesy my a$$, they filed a claim, saying that I didn’t take any responsibility for the payment, and collected full payment from my insurance carrier. So, basically they double-​billed and I didn’t get reimbursed at all (which, I should have been, according to my insurance coverage) as a result of the «courtesy claim» that they «filed on my behalf». In total, they collected over $ 300 from double-​billing, they didn’t even do any tests, or require any labwork, or anything at all, they just looked at my son’s ears and gave him a prescription for an ear infection.

I put off coming to the clinic for a couple of days because of the reviews. What was I thinking?! I couldn’t handle my skin infection for any longer so I bit the bullet and headed to the clinic this morning. I was greeted by a very polite woman at the front desk, the wait time was not bad at all, and I was diagnosed and treated very thoroughly by knowledgeable professionals. All total I was in and out in about an hour and a half, that’s extremely quick in my experience.

It’s far too common for people to complain of their wait, brief care, and «no one knows what they’re doing» in the medical setting because they typically refuse to grasp what medical professionals have to do behind the scenes. I showed up to the clinic, filled out simple paperwork, and was called back within 10 minutes of submitting my paperwork. Now, this is pretty rare, and likely due to being the only person in the waiting room. Once I was called back the nurses were quick with their vitals, assessments, and polite as hell. The PA entered shortly after, who was straight to the point and provided treatment as well as a local referral for my presenting symptoms. I appreciate the efficiency of this Urgent Care establishment. Thanks for making my vacation more bearable!

There is no urgency to see patients here. Waiting going on 3 hrs. Otherwise it’s clean. While sitting in waiting room listening to receptionist phone conversations it doesn’t sound like they take many insurances either. Drive the extra distance and go somewhere else it will save you time in the long run.

NOT SO URGENT CARE!!! If I had the ability to give this place ½ star, then I would. I waited 2 hours in the waiting room despite the fact I completed all paperwork in less than 5 minutes. Heck, I am writing this review and just got back to the examination room! 3 hours later!!! 11 minutes until they close… I wonder how fast they will be now that it is time to get off work.
UPDATE: 7:57 pm… just saw the PA and he said that he will give me prescription and have me out in 2 minutes.

Other than a slight wait, ECUC is a good place to go for minor health problems. Staff was friendly and kind.

If you come here, I hope you are not expecting friendly, hospitable service. Better bring your insurance agent or banker. They treat everyone – once you are paid in full and have signed off on all the other stuff they will charge you for. Go somewhere else!

While on my family vacation last week, I somehow hurt my back the first day we were there. I’m not sure if it was from my flight, exercising on the treadmill when I arrived, lifting heavy bags or what. All I know is that I was in terrible pain and could not sit, stand or lay down without almost crying. Finally, after a day and a half, my parents convinced me to go to a doctor. I called the local hospital and they were not very helpful, so I looked online and found Emerald Coast Urgent Care. I called and they said I could just stop in. Walking in, you could tell it was a very clean and quite office. After taking about 2 minutes to fill out the paperwork, I was taken in to get my information/​reason for coming in. Almost immediately I was seen by Dr. Hinckley. He could not have been more understanding and helpful and I really felt that he was concerned for my comfort and getting me on the road to feeling better. The entire staff was sweet and efficient and made me feel at ease. I would highly recommend this facility!

Nice people, arrived when it opened for a small bug bite. Waited over an hour and a half for a two minute conversation with a doctor who prescribed an antibiotic and sent us on our way. Had to go out in the hallway while waiting and ask a nurse how much longer since we had waited in the room for about 45 minutes. Gets the job done, but if you’re on a time schedule DO NOT come here. 2 hours for a two minute visit.

Took a friend for a sting bite. He was in scrutiating pain. We asked for wait time. The front desk person was unprofessional and did not gave us a straight answer. She had «I don’t care» attitude. After hour we inquired about the status and once again bit rude and was told that you are next and wait.
We end up waiting for 1.5 hours but got the sting taken care of.

Visited Emerald Coast Urgent Care for my daughter’s fever/​cough/​chills. She forgot her ID, and since she is above 18, they would not take my insurance card, even though it is the same number. The front desk staff was borderline rude, talked about her refusal of a steroid shot across the waiting room with other patients present, and provided a receipt with no Diagnostic code so I can’t file a claim with my Insurance. The staff asked her questions, the doctor prescribed an antibiotic with no diagnostic tests, and sent her on the way. Net, we got the antibiotics we needed, but very little attention to detail, and $ 125 out of pocket with no way to file on my insurance.

Nice people. Got me in and out quickly without compromising care. Just shy of 5 stars because they sent me three different individuals to my room asking the same questions. Felt that was a bit redundant.

while on honeymoon, i developed severe stomach pains, but i wasn’t trying to spend a honeymoon day at the hospital emergency room. we arrived at the office around 10am and i was seen immediately. the receptionist and nurses were so kind and also efficient. i was taken to a very clean and organized exam room and was treated in such a way that i felt the staff really cared what my diagnosis would be. my only complaint about this clinic is that they do not have a lab or imaging services available on-​site, and i had to drive about 20 minutes away to get the appropriate tests. that being said, though, my results and diagnosis came through rapidly, the good Doctor Gonzales calling personally to deliver the good news — no ER or emergency surgery! overall, this was the best trip to any doctor i think i’ve ever had. i give huge thanks!

It’s never pleasant to need a doctor on vacation, but Emerald Coast Urgent Care took most of the pain out of it. The staff were kind and efficient, there was no wait when I arrived and I was out of there in less than 30 minutes. If you find yourself in need of a doctor don’t try anywhere else just go there straightaway.

While on vacation my wife came down with bronchitis and we went here for treatment. Everyone from receptionist, nurse and doctor were thorough and efficient in getting her diagnosed an getting an injection and prescriptions. We arrived when they opened at 8am (no appointment necessary) and were out in 35 minutes. Went across the street to CVS and had scripts quickly filled. We would definitely go back if we get sick while here on vacation.
