Tom Thumb Food Stores

I think the store is very well run and it is a clean store. It has a nice variety of product. However, I think the way the employees are treated is not right. They do not give lunch breaks at this store or any Tom Thumb store. If one considers being outside to take the trash out, cleaning counters, restocking shelves, or refilling coffee pots and having to eat in the process a break, it is not. The stress level at this store appears high. The turnover is high. Being on your feet 8 hours is hard on anyone. Although the law in Florida does not require breaks and it is voluntary, Tom Thumb should realize that breaks are important. Do you think we don’t know what is going on when we see employees behind the counter eating lunch while ringing up customers? I am sure they are reviewing their camera tapes to make sure employees are working while eating! I would give this store a 4.5 but I can’t because of this practice. Florida needs to change the laws. I will have to write my congressman.

Quick trip from the condo… if you need eggs, bread, the basics this is a great stop for it. Very clean, organized and well maintained for the basic groceries and treats!
