Big Al’s Steaks

First let me start with the positives. Very clean establishment and very friendly staff. Young man took my order and then proceeded to put on plastic gloves and help making my order. Bread is also very good and fresh which I was surprised about seeing I ordered about 30 minutes prior to close. The condiment station and ketchup bottles out are also a nice touch.
Problem is the sandwich. While I am no expert on Philly Cheese steaks, I am from Jersey and I have been to Pats and Geno’s as well as a few other establishments on Broad Street as well as Brandywine on more than a few occasions. The steak did appear to be Rib Eye but was diced up to small on the grill. It should only be pulled twice no more than three or four times. Next the cooks use to much oil on the grill. The steak should not be soaking wet with oil. The onions should be translucent, not completely overdone and caramelized. My combo came to $ 14.30 for the sandwich, small fry and drink. This is a lot of money for a mediocre sandwich. Hopefully the staff can be trained on how to properly prepare a Philly style cheesesteak and the place can prosper. All the best.

Food was ok, nothing really to brag about. I got their Philly Cheese Steak w/​Provolone and wasn’t impressed by it. We actually stumbled across this place just before they were about to close simply because the Golden Krust ran out of rice to serve with their meals so I won’t be too critical but I’ve definitely tasted better Philly Cheeses down here in SoFlo… although Customer Service was good. Not sure if we’ll be coming back. Recommendations: may want to season or add something else to your meat just a little so that it doesn’t taste like a frozen cheese steak from Publix.

So the bar is set pretty high with little bit of Philly in Miami Gardens. The bread is exactly the same as little bit of Philly, very good, and the steak had good consistency, however thats where the good news end. The cheesesteak is extremely greasy and peppery, not sure what the amount of pepper is about, but the greasy meat with pepper overload was way too much for me or anyone in my party.

Absolutely amazing. The triple threat with mushrooms and grilled onions put me into a food enduced coma. I could not be more satisfied with the quality of the food.

Yum yum yum!!! I’ve had this restaurant twice already doesn’t disappoint :) I ordered two black bean burgers with cheese & coleslaw! To die for !!! I’m obsessed. I’m becoming a regular & love it. I’ve had it delivered twice from doorstep delivery, the best customer service for delivery thus far.

Just had one of the best cheesesteaks I’ve ever had. This spot is a hidden gem. Will definitely be back again. Also congratulations on the one year anniversary and thanks for the «Andy cookie». It was soft and sweet! #SeeYaLater

Could have bought 5 packs of steak’ems at publix for the price and would have tasted better!

Their rolls deserve five stars. The menu is nice and enticing too. The amount of meat was just adequate and the onions were already grilled and sitting on the side all chopped up. Their toppings were nice and plentiful. I had a delicious apple juice with my order. The staff were friendly and did there best to take care of us. I would order mine with provolone or mozzarella next time as I don’t like cheese whiz.

I’ve had cheesesteaks before but never like this. This is what an authentic cheesesteak look like! It’s not made with steak (like the imposters); it’s made with ribeye on a soft amoroso roll and any cheese of your choice (they even have cheese whiz). Also, the fried onions and mushrooms made all the difference. I will be coming back here.

A taste of Philly right here in SoFlo. Let’s start with the meat, it’s not your typical steak, it’s «Ribeye» slow roasted & tender, then you have the bread which is shipped straight from Philly, soft on the inside & lightly crisp on the outside, finally the Cheese! You have a choice of Provolone, American or Wiz, all great but the triple threat is the best. Top it off with extras like grilled onions or mushrooms an Damn! Dare I say this is as close to Geno’s as you’re gonna get, without wasting all those Airline miles. ;)

The Philly cheesesteak was great best I have tried in Miami. Bought a groupon and decided to give it a try and so glad I did. I love trying new places and will definitely be back.

Very good cheese steak! When you’re having a cheat day and you’re craving salty savory cheesy deliciousness, this cheese steak hits the spot!
I came in on the lunch hour and it wasn’t crowded at all. The sub was made to order so took a little bit of waiting but it was well worth it. The combo comes with fries and a drink and ends up being about $ 12. You could easily do without the fries though, the sub is quite fulfilling.
Definitely a great sub place!

I came here once because I was taking my daughter to Panda Express which is next door. It caught my attention and decided to check them out. I got really excited when I saw that they have Cheese Whiz as a cheese option for your steak sub! I tried it but it was just ok. A little better than a subway steak and cheese but not even close to a Hungry Bear steak and cheese sub.

This new spot is right next to Panda Express so I decided to give it a try. The place was empty but the staff were very friendly. I went ahead and ordered the bar-​b-​que cheesesteak, onion rings, and a drink. It came out to $ 17 geez!!! After that price I was praying the food was at least good. Well the cheesesteak was DELICIOUS. Very flavorful, and had plenty of meat. But the onion ring were burnt! I paid $ 4.50 for burnt onion rings. Needless to say I was extremely upset. If I do go back I won’t bother ordering sides.

Ok I’ll make it quick, the Philly Cheesesteak was delicious, soft, tender and juicy, problem is they’re a bit stingy with the portion. The bread is nothing special which shows the lack of attention to detail and the fries are ordinary plain fries. The service was friendly and fast and the prices are somewhat high for what you’re getting. I doubt I’ll be back. More bread than steak is never good.

Our leadership team met here and had a blast. We ordered everything from the Philly cheese subs, hamburgers, and even the black bean burger. No one had one complaint. This is a great spot for a quick delicious meal.

As a native Philadelphian, I have had lots of cheesesteaks throughout my life. Few can be considered ‘bad’, most are ‘good’, and some are downright ‘excellent’. Without a doubt, the cheesesteaks at Big Al’s are classed as excellent, in my opinion. The rolls are shipped in from Amoroso’s from Philly, and are warmed with a touch of crispness before serving. There are choices of cheese for customers, but Cheez-​Whiz is my favorite. (I realize there is nothing organic or healthy in Cheez-​Whiz, but it’s what I was rasied on, and just tastes great when warmed and poured onto the steak). The steak is thin, tasty, lean and is perfect.
Load up at the condiment bar, add some of the best fries available, and enjoy every crumb.
The manager and staff are very friendly, service is quick, and the place is spotless. This place is a home run!

When I first came in I was greeted and a very friendly lady took my order. I ordered the 9inch cheesesteak lunch special ($ 12 w/​small fries & drink) The place was practically empty with one person eating in the dining area. I waited for about 10 – 15 min which to me was a little bit too long being that the place was empty.
Now the food itself was just OK. The fries reminded me of Burger King, nothing special. I ordered my cheesesteak with onions and provolone, there was not much flavor. I put on the pepper relish and that barely made it better. The bread itself was pretty good though nice and soft but still. Needless to say I was a little disappointed. For the price I paid I was expecting a lot more.
This place has a lot of potential especially since it JUST opened, but they need to season the food more. The customer service was excellent though, I can’t complain! I really hope it was just an off day because I was so excited to have a cheesesteak joint so close to my house.
