Well I too do not like leaving bad reviews /but I am only in hopes this gets back to someone that own’s this restaurant for the sole reason of the following review may help them keep this restaurant surviving for the future. This place has been around for a long time /family owned since 1986 I ate lunch here on a Sat. about a year ago /and it was fantastic /GREAT Beans /Rice and the soft taco beef was amazing. Thus I had this place as a FAV since then… Well today /02÷15÷16 — I came in for lunch, I for one like the chips and salsa … But the Rice and Beans were OK The reason I am leaving review is the fact that I ordered a beef tamale — it was a step up from a canned store bought tamale by XLNT … If any of the family members /owners of this restaurant see’s this /OMG do not serve an XLNT tamale to your customers /Sure I eat them every once in a while when I pick them up shopping for food /but with the choice of getting a much better tamale from Costco /deer god serving an XLNT tamale as a beef tamale is the quickest way to drive customer to never come back. I think most would agree … So for those whom are seeing this /give this place a try /I am not leaving this review to drive you away /as I know this place can do better … For those whom do not know about XLNT It’s an acquired taste for sure. *** Update, I called the restaurant just to give them some friendly advice about serving a 89 cent tamale that you get from the store … The«Mother» of this family answered the phone /I know this as when I was served today /the son was running around calling her Mom. But she answered and I said /is it normal that you serve a store bought Tamale from XLNT for your beef tamales dish /she had no answer but gave me to someone /sounded young that had no idea what the brand XLNT is /and she said she was sorry for the bad experience /but I did mention this is not a complaint really /it is more advice /as I stated earlier /anyone who get’s served this whom is familiar with off the shelf /store food — will know they were served a 89 cent tamale /that tastes just like a Jack-in-the box taco filling /a tofu type mix that taste a little bit like beef but not really. Continue to serve this for your beef tamales and patrons will not come back :( Hope the person I talked to take’s it serious /I for one am taking this place off my list(saddly)

I’ve been going here since I was a kid since I grew up in MV. My kids love it and the food is reasonably priced. There is a reason they’ve been around so long.

My girlfriend and I came here a few weeks ago for dinner. My friend comes here quite often and was warmly greeted by the staff. We were seated right away and fresh chips and salsa arrived shortly afterwards. They have two types of salsa. One is a purée and the other one is the traditional chunky salsa. I liked the traditional one better. We both ordered combo dinners and I got the enchilada and taco. My enchilada was cheesy and my taco was crunchy… just how I wanted it. What sets this place apart from other Mexican restaurants is the excellent service and the décor of this place. It’s very cozy and you can tell it’s been there awhile. We’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area again.

We are here the other night and enjoyed it very much! I saw a previous post about the salsa. Which was incorrect, they brought out 3 types, which were all very good! We had chili rellano and pork verde enchilada, which were excellent. We look forward to going back. The owners were great and friendly. They made you feel at home.

I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl, craved their albondigas soup and crispy beef tacos when I was pregnant, and now my son is 6 and we still come here at least 4 – 5 times a month if not more. I LOVE the family who owns this place, Daniel is full of personality and an amazing bartender, everyone is so friendly and the atmosphere is awesome. Best Mexican food in the area by far!

I have been coming here for years and the food is consistently good. The salsa is fresh and the beans and rice are moist and flavorful. Their chile relennos are very good too. I recommend the albondigas soup, it comes with tortillas and is very good. The food is homemade and family owned, would highly recommend.

I hate leaving bad reviews for mom-and-pop shops, but this place has been open since the 80’s and it can’t hold a candle to Del Taco. To start, walked in about 630 dinnertime. Waited for a moment to be acknowledged by the two chatty workers at the front(mom and daughter?). Place was empty, booths had duct tape. Sat for about 10 minutes while my husband ate a whole basket of crappy chips and enchilada-marinara sauce. Waitress(daughter?) finally came and asked us if we were ready to order. I said«can we please get some drinks first?» Hello it’s friday day night and I’m dressed up its not Chili’s on my lunch hour. Fast forward, I ordered a tostada salad sans shell with black beans. I got a half a can of A&W beans with the juice dumped on my plate, complete with shredded taco lettuce and a teeny bit of gross chicken. I can’t even speak about the«salsa» because it makes me so mad. It’s tomato sauce. Took forever to get our check and I got an abysmal pour of patron rocks(like a jigger). I would say try harder Maya, but I think you already know you suck and don’t care. My only solace is knowing this place will die soon. Taffer couldn’t even fix this ridiculous excuse for a mexican restaurant.

Let’s start with the salsa they serve with the oily undercooked chips. The salsa isn’t salsa at all, it’s sauce, basically canned tomato sauce… that’s it. Absolutely no flavor and not even a hint of spice. It’s quite comical. I seriously can’t imagine that every single person working there agrees that the«salsa» is remotely palatable. Food: Equally as flavorless as the table chip sauce. Service: Service for the entire restaurant was carried out by one bartender trying to do everything. I would avoid this place. But if you need a laugh, stop in and try the chip sauce/salsa.

Years back this was a great mexican restaurant! I always ordered take out and the portions were big and HOT and reasonably priced! However; the last few times I went in this past year, I have been continuously disappointed with the food, prices and service. The food doesnt taste as good anymore, the portions are smaller, and the prices went up!!! Needless to say; I quit coming here for good!

Think of good Mexican food with an authentic home made feel and very nice and personable staff… well then your thinking of the Maya Inn. I’ve eaten here plenty of times and every time it’s a good experience. I usually order the Mexican pizza or the Lily’s Taquitos and I always order the albondigas soup. Both of these plates along with the majority of everything else you can’t go wrong with. The Mexican pizza is really good and changed my perspective the first time I had it because I was so used to the typical beans and cheese just thrown on a half fried tortilla. However this Mexican pizza has just the right amount of cheese, beans, tomatoes, and salsa/sauce, not to mention the tortilla isn’t sloppy at all. The Lily’s Taquitos are flour Taquitos with a little cheese on them and they are perfect for an appetizer or a meal any time. Of course the albondigas soup is amazing and very well seasoned and reminds of my grandmas recipe:) All of this comes with tasty home made chips and awesome pico de gallo. In addition to the great food the service there is always great. The waiters and waitress are really nice and always give detailed and good suggestion whenever I fell like trying something new. The manager is really friendly and if an issue ever does arise he is always quick to solve it in a professional and fair manner. Lastly the price, for the quality of food you get and the good service, is great as I usually spend around 10 dollars for lunch and around 10 – 18 at dinner. This also includes drinks and usually a three course meal, so all in all a pretty good deal. So as you can probably tell this place is great and really deserves a try. Bring the family or come by yourself because the staff is super nice so they’ll keep you company:)… but really come down and give this place a try you won’t regret it!

I don’t know what the trolls are saying, but I just had some pretty awesome nachos, granted I requested black beans instead of retried beans, but hey, that’s just personal opinion. Still, recommend putting that on the menu. The meat in the burrito is very flavorful! Holy sweet jeezus! The enchilada sauce is a tad thin, but also flavorful. The staff was pleasant. They even put up with my incessant drinking and requests for a special beverage(passion tea with a splash of lemon aid). The portions are pretty decent too. Especially for south county! All in all, a worth while visit. Oh! And it was totally empty! And service was quick! Great spot for lunch if you’re in a rush!

First time and NEVERAGAIN. I don’t even know where to start other than the rude waitress who chased me out of the restaurant claiming this was a «Fine Dining Restaurant» and that clearly I am used to McDonalds and should go there next time. Now that I’ve set the tone, read on… I was excited to go here by a recommendation and thought the fact it was just labeled«Mexican Restaurant» in the corner of a strip mall meant it was probably going to be great. The feel inside is comfortable, there’s a nice bar with sports on TV. Our party of 5 plus a baby had a nice size booth but the 9 month pregnant gal ended up sitting on a lumpy spot in the booth. We ordered beverages and an appetizer of cheese chips. We didn’t receive the cheese chips after confirming the order was in twice, after the third request we received them but once you eat the top layer that has cheese on it, that’s all folks. $ 7 for a top layer of cheese on the same chips they serve for free. The«salsa» served with the chips is pretty much like dipping in Cholula, with les
