I purchased a lot of products for my husband including a straight razor blade. The one he chose, the associate Sheila(hope that’s how her name is spelt) said that it was the last one so she pulled it from the display and went to the back to get the box. At first I was a little hesitant about that, but hoped that it would be okay. When we got home, my husband was anxious to try everything out and came to find that the straight razor was extremely dull. He’d have to stretch out his skin so much and press down very hard and still wouldn’t remove his facial hair. It’s very displeasing to spend a lot of money on what seems to be used and dull. We went in today and told the associate(different girl) about the blade and that we purchased it very recent and tells us that some people just like the blade very sharp. Yes I agree with that, but that doesn’t answer or address the fact that this razor I just bought is so dull, he can’t even use it and wasted the shaving facial products attempting to shave his face! They gave us a number to call for a guy they send business to to sharpen blades. My husband tries calling and the phone number is for an apartment complex in Las Vegas?! Now, we’re very turned off by The Art of Shaving. I work in cosmetics and retail — a few stores down from this place and it’s like if I were to sell a client a used tester that’s in the store when clients expect to purchase NEW product. I was looking into their return policy and basically you can’t return anything if it’s used. I already sent a «contact us» email via their website explaining all of this and I’m hoping to be able to make my return. Already displeased by this experience and I’m truly hoping they contact me. Two star rating for Sheila’s customer service and showing a demo to my husband, but I can’t get past everything else.

Beautifully shop. Came in today expecting to buy only a safety razor and ended up getting the entire lot of supplies. Both women working today(the lovely woman who helped me & the cute pinup girl [forgot their names, sorry if either of you are reading this]) were very nice and helpful. I could have paid less and purchased something online only to be disappointed with my purchase, so I don’t mind paying a little more at a shop like this.

The staff is friendly and professional. They will take time to explain their products. Although most of the products are a bit on the pricey side, consumers receive a quality product that delivers results. The single razor they sell is an outstanding value, and complements their products. I used to purchase expensive razor blades at big-box stores, but found the single cartridge razor here. The razor works very well, and I’m saving a lot of money. The holder of the razor is an initial reasonable cost, but well-worth the value of the razor.

They need to rename this franchise«The Art of Profit». I stopped in today to pick up some DE safety razors. Asked them for a ten pack of the Merkur blades and a five pack of Gillette Platinum blades. Total cost was $ 21.60 which is more than double the cost of what anyone else charges for these blades. From now on, I’ll order from Royal Shave in Costa Mesa and save the cash. Also, this place is like the Trader Joe’s of shaving carrying most of their own branded, over priced items. You won’t find the top of the line Above the Tie or Ikon brands here, but you pay the same price as those brands and get inferior product like a vibrating battery operated shaving brush. If you need to learn about shaving and don’t mind driving, go to the Old Town Shave Company in Pasadena. They have a much better selection and their prices are much better.

The staff here is very knowledgeable and friendly. They’ve always been quick to answer any questions I have and have always given me more information than I anticipated needing to know. Only complaint is that the products are a bit pricey for me. Also, while they do have a license to actually shave here, the company decided to only have the South Coast Plaza location do that. So they just have a barber chair sitting there, teasing you as you walk by.

I stumbled into this place by accident and it changed my shaving experience! I look forward to shaving in the morning, my face has never felt so refreshed, bought the whole kit, razor, brush, stand and all the shaving kit, recommend this place o anyone that doesn’t really enjoy their current shaving experience.

As a barber I find it a huge joke that no one in this place is a barber as well. Went in for some high quality razors or products, or to chitchat… Came out disappointed because of how uneducated the staff is

TERRIBLERETURNPOLICY!!! I purchased a box set in mid-November for my husband’s birthday. Since my husband had never used their products, I verified that it was returnable if he didn’t want it. The sales associate agreed so I purchased the set. Of course, my husband decided he didn’t want the set so he went to the store to return it with the receipt. The set was completely untouched in it’s original packaging. They told my husband that they wouldn’t be able to refund the purchase amount without the original CC card the item was purchased with. My husband called me from the store after going around and around with the sales associate. I had to bring my card back to the store personally so they could process the refund. Basically, don’t get anything from this store as a gift. The recipient will only be able to return it for store credit, and their product line is pretty limited.

I bought my first Merkur Safety Razor here along with their $ 25 shaving kit. The lady who helped us out was very helpful and was really patient with us. Very personal service. I was hoping that this would also be a barber shop but it is only a store for shaving supplies. If it was a place to get a shaved I think I would have given it a 5 star rating. As for the products, I just used it this morning and I think I got one of the closest shave outside of the barber shop. Also the shaving kit that I bought was a great starter kit. It came with a $ 25 gift card so I get my money back to upgrade to a real kit with a full size shaving brush. Overall I’m please with their service and products. I know I could have probably gotten the Merkur Safety Razor cheaper online but I think it’s nice to suppose local businesses even though they may not be a mom and pop shop.
